    DENR Secretary Gina Lopez is sure great. She resigned from her foundation thus staking her pay. Now she accepted the DENR without knowing if she will have a salary or non. Great. She needs no money all her drive is to clean DENR, look at the welfare of the oppressed farmers, Filipino people and the condition of the Philippines. WOW! ma'am I love you for that May God shield you from danger and corrupt businessman who will do you harm.

      gem241968 #ConfirmGINA! She's giving us results (8 months in office take note) more than any other officials in the cabinet and secretaries before her! I strongly feel, while watching the hearing on the net, that these oppositors were just shaking-afraid if this woman-of-substance will serve as the secretary - MAWAWALAN SILA NG KITA KAHIT NA MASIRA ANG KAPALIGIRAN!!!!! 😠
      F%*ck this Commission on Appointments if Secretary Gina won't be duly appointed! That hurts for me 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 bakit kung sino pa ang may passion at tunay na nagsisilbi, sila pa itong ginigisa, binibitin, hinaharang at tila inaapi. There's something WRONG! 🙅

    Ms. Gina Lopez is another great woman side by side with Sen. Miriam whom we miss greatly and whom we see as 'sayang'. They could have given more and served more the country than we could have imagined. Thank you Ms.Gina for all that you've done for humanity and the environment, whether publicly or in silence. It's been a great honor working with you on the Pasig River projects and La Mesa Dam rehabilitation projects

    I can feel her sincerity to serve, the passion and love for the job given to her. She's upbeat and positive but this Winnie Monsod appears to be on the negative side. She seems discouraging Gina Lopez about the low salary in government job. But the wonderful thing is she's not bothered by it. She doesn't even know how much her salary is. I'm starting to like Gina Lopez.

    I have been amazed by Ms. Lopez's uncompromising stance on environmental protection and social justice. Her video clips depicting her passion and courage were inspirational and opened the minds of Filipinos across all political divides and social backgrounds. Her advocacies came from a heart filled with love for the majority of Filipino poor. That kind of message was powerful and had captivated the admiration of hundreds of thousands, if not, millions of the Filipino marginalized who were clamoring for social reforms. Her non-confirmation was not her loss ( she has everything in this world). But it was a huge loss for the marginalized and the government because she represented a new hope and a fresh face of politics that was honest, pure and non-partisan. Just like how millions of people felt about PRRD. I have understood her "dream of poverty eradication" through environment- friendly area developments. Such dream was quashed in a decision marred by lobby money. Too disappointing!

  • @rommelmartinez8820

    Let's just give her the benefit of the doubt. She's a well known environmentalist in the Philippines who fought hard againts influential mining lobbyist and businessmen in the Congress. The fact that she accepted a very sensitive job in the government even though she doesn't need such a pitiful salary of a DENR secretary brings me to mind of a somewhat true and undeniable desire to protect the common good of Filipino people. To bring into justice those who destroy our environment and to protect our ecosystem what ever the cost. Anyways, what is economic progress if your environment has already been destroyed by a some giant foreign companies , or even small scale mining industries? What 's the difference between those two marauders of our " Kalikasan"? And to Winnie Monsod, i guess you, madame, need to seriously consider a retirement from your media career. Your line of reasoning reflects the heyday of a corrupt media practices in the Philippines. I'm not trying to insinuate here,with all my due respect to you madame, that you are among those corrupt media fractioners , ok?Change is coming in the Philippines, and I believe that the bad practices in Philippine media must do the same or else. . ., lagot kayo kay Digong! LOL!

    ang problema kasi sa mining sino ba ang nakakabenifit the most, may pera talaga jan pero ang tanong sino ang pinakamalaking makabenefit? tao ba o mga mining companies? mining is not like agriculture nauubos yan hindi ako pabor sa mga mining companies na sinasabi nila babagsak ekonomiya ng pilipinas o malaki epekto nyan sa philippine economy etc etc. pag ipinatigil ang mina, sa kanila malaki epekto nyan dahil mawalan sila ng kita pero kung isipin mo mabuti hindi naman kawalan ng pilipinas yan dahil yung mga mineral nanjan lang yan sa lupa hindi aalis yung yaman nyan. wag kayong padala sa mga mining companies sa mga panakot nila, as long as their is unresponsible mining na nangyayari ok lang yan na ipatigil dahil wala namang mawawala sa pilipinas, nakabaon lang jan yung mga mineral sila lang naman yung mawawalan.

    • @eleazarmantaring3578

      yes nasa mining industry ako. wala akong minahan pero nag work ako sa MGB at nagretire na at alam ko kung bakit di nila naprotektahan ang kalikasan 1. pianyagan kasi ni cory aquino ang small scale mining na mag operate ng minahan kaya ganyan nasira ang kalikasan. tutol ako dun pero anong magagawa kundi sundin ang utos ng presidente aquino. walang environmental mesures basta magmina lang sila at nagpatuloy yun hanggang ke pinoy kaya nasira ang kalikasan.2. Talamak ang corruption sa mga Government officials at kaparian hingi ng pera dito oon sa mga malalaking minahan, paggastos sa eleksyon at etc. at napabayaan ang environmental commitments. Yan ang totoo. Bago umalis ang dating administrasyon nanghingi ng milyong milyongpabaon ang mga dating higher ranking officials para ma approve ang mga mining permits. an ang katotohanan. Masakit pero totoo. dahil corrupt ang mga nasa gobyerno napabayaan ang mga environmental measures na dapat gawin ng mga minahan. Yun din ang naging dahilan kung bakit ako nag early retirement sa gobyerno at ngayon ay nag work na lang sa ibang bansa asmining consultants. Wag po kayong magalit sa akin sinasabi ko lang po ang totoo. Go bless na lang po.

    @charlierivera9910 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    If there is one word to describe Gina Lopez's hatred of mining, it is 'anal'. She seems to disregard other aspects of environmental destruction like illegal logging and improper disposal of garbage and remains fixated on mining. She even refuses to consider the illegal small-scale miners who are even more disdainful of the law, because they do not afford her the same media exposure that going up against big mining would, She will not brook any opposition and responds to different opinions with shrill non-sequiturs and generalizations. Back when she was just with her private crusade, she was just irritating, even laughable. But now the jester has ascended the throne, and presents a danger to national growth.

    • @izenngarddrayne6414
      @izenngarddrayne6414 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is the most articulate dumb thing i have ever read. Have you watched her other interviews. It's not just mining. As long as you destroy the environment you are on her watch list. She has good plans for our country and miners only have plans for the growth of their own businesses while disregarding the welfare of the common people.

    • @charlierivera9910
      @charlierivera9910 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      And as long as she speaks on those other issues, including the arrest of illegal miners, then the entire country is behind her, and this includes the responsible mining industry. She waxes sentimental on those other issues, and grants them passing mention, but reserves a special virulence against big mining. Not illegal loggers. Not small scale illegal miners, but large-scale mining. I will disregard the 'dumb' remark and point out your misinformed - if not emotional and judgemental - one that miners disregard the welfare of others. Now what business on earth is not after growth? But to say that all miners disregard the people is Gina's style: Universal condemnation based on selective blindness. Oh, I'm sure she has seen how Benguet is the top placer in the United Nations Human Developement Index. Gina attributes it to tourism and agriculture - and certainly not to that evil mining. But wait...agriculture? Benguet is rich through agriculture, she says, but did she not also say that mining destroys agriculture. How does she reconcile this contradiction, unless she has misrepresented something? She lamented the lack of farm to market roads, but forgets that Philex Mining built such a road. In the Itogon are is a thriving community built by Philex with amenities oyher parts of the country can only dream about. Rather than adopt belligerence towards mining in general, would it not make more sense to join hands with responsible miners to shut down the illegals? Would Gina Lopez's crusade not like to tap into Philex's reforestation efforts that is responsible for 7 million trees?

      you sounded like a concerned rep or even owner of one of the country's greed mining companies. big mining companies has the most destruction causing to the environment because of their large scale operations, have the money and capacity to bribe the corrupt agencies of the gov who supposed to do this job.... how many do we see on tv the current distractions coming from big companies that damaged the rivers, shores, etc. and never been stopped because lack of action from the gov. or never even been exposed to the greater public? and by the way, same thing to illegal loggers, only the small scale had been caught while the big jerks had been protected. why do this type of issue be different from the common sense of understanding to the Phil gov?

      I am not connected with the industry in any way, but even if I were, does that make my statements any less valid or accurate? Rather than accuse a person you have never met of partisanship, perhaps you would instead care to refute my points. If any mining company big or small is guilty of violation, then they should be made to answer for it. Punish their protectors as well. (Yes, small-scale miners are also protected by local officials.) There is no question that there is destruction caused by mining, but to say that this is typical of all big mining is specious. Every example of the destruction of big mining, can be countered with examples of how mining benefits a community and the nation. If we're going to be swapping examples how about that mining company that planted 7 million trees? That sort of thing - positive news - doesn't reach a media (of which Ms. Lopez is a part) which feeds off the public hunger for sensationalized news. The problem with using examples for an argument is that it can be easily twisted. For example, is it fair to call all priests pedophiles just because of isolated instances? And my question as to why there has been silence from Ms. Lopez on small-scale illegal miners or illegal loggers still remains unanswered. I am not in favor of all sorts of mining, only of responsible mining.

      your second statement seems declining from your the original one.... my point here is, only if mining or other related industries, big or small, does the right thing, there's no reason they should be concerned with Ms Lopez appointment as DENR sec. but it looks like you have person grievances with Ms Lopez appointment herself here...
