I'm a grandmother now, but back when I was in college, we would do hill sprints repeatedly for martial arts training (no weight though). I have to go ice my legs after just watching that :-P If you have never done that sort thing you have no idea how much pain can result in your legs from the building up of lactic acid. Flat-out muscle failure is not uncommon. (Its also hard on your back. And again, back in the day some 30 years ago, we weren't carrying weight while we did it.) Goodness, and these guys and gals make it look easy, especially Toomey and Fraser.
Great video, great commentary. I love it that CrossFit Games found a way to make some kind of competition happen, its very much in the spirit of the games to find a way to get it done.

The self is very strong in most of us; sleeping or waking, it is ever alert, always strengthening itself but when there is an awareness of the self and a realization that all its activities, however subtle, must always lead to conflict and pain, then the craving for certainty, for self-continuance comes to an end.

Amazing corn sac race...they make it look easy but it's devastating !....Also, one major mistake athletes do is that they drink ice-cold water after the workout which is a very commonly thought misconception that cold water helps you cool down but it's opposite of the truth actually...the temperature of your stomach is around 37 degree C so when we drink cold water, the body needs extra energy to warm it up and that takes away energy instead of replinishing it so the best temperature for water is either room temp or luke-warm..that way the body fights fatigure and heals faster !

    • @alan181090
