What kind of zipper are you using, that you can just cut it into two like that

I'm not sure if she is using a special type of zipper. I've done the same with a normal invisible zipper and it worked. It's important to create a new zipper stopper, I just took normal sewing garn and I sew around the zipper teeths until there was a bulk. Don't know if my explanation makes any sense but it has worked many times for me :)
Edit: I don't know if my method would work for this specific project but it has worked for dresses
