I embrace the benefits of not being organized. It gives me the chance to find all the stuff I forgot I had while looking for the thing I want now. It's like getting surprise gifts.
That looks well organized. I haven't really considered organizing as being a form of procrastination. I see it more as thinking forward and investing. I like for everything to have a home, and to be able to reset everything in a matter of minutes.
Nice little layout. I'm hoping to get my own little workbench area built this year. I'm fortunate enough to live alone so I've got as much space as I want to use if I want it. I'm trying to cram a lot of stuff into a 3m x1m space :) planning it out in Excel helps
With all the huge shops going around these day, it so cool and inspiring to see what a shop in an apartment can look like. My setup looks alot like yours and it's a place where I can just sit and look at tools and parts.
Thumbs up indeed! I spent the last two weeks buying dollar store clear bins, stocking them, labeling and throwing out the ridiculous amount of trash afterward. It is a fall thing :) My inner OCD is much happier. Cheers Becky. Great vid.
So true! I much prefer starting new projects with a clean workspace! And cleaning my workspace is also one of my procrastination habits... but it's a good habit, compared to many of my others ;)
I love my label maker, and my magnetic wall bars. And even though my space is somewhat messy, I always say I never really own a thing until it's filed away. (because if you can't find it what use is there in having it anyway). :).
I absolutely organize when I'm procrastinating. But I do hate having to stop in the middle of a project because I can't find the whoozitdingy I need for the next step. I'm overdue for a major workshop overhaul. Maybe I need a label maker to get me started... 😉 I like your setup! It looks efficient and attractive! Very nice video!!
Some great inspiration Becky to tidy things up! Tidy bench is a tidy mind! I particularly liked seeing the "Fire" draw... was a little disappointed when I paused it and looked closer that it wasn't a draw full of actual fire.... shame! lol 😂
would recommend pulling the batteries out of the label maker when not in use, they drain down even when "off" and then you gotta get more batteries just when you want to make some dang labels so you end up with sharpied up green masking tape everywhere and nothing matches and arrrrrgh.
I try to put stuff I need all the time (resistors, caps, little connectors, etc.) right in front of me. I might have not seen it correctly, but it looks like you have masonry bits & dead batteries in the lowest little drawer unit... ;-)
@@BeckyStern Hey, it's YOUR workbench. You have enough credibility that you can do ANYTHING with it you want. Even store dead batteries in a bit of valuable real estate like that. 🤓
So you made a video letting everyone know that you organized your workspace, didn't put any useful tips in it and got featured on Boing Boing? Great job!
I'm an older, single woman and aspiring Maker and I need a way to organize my tools and supplies without a dedicated space. I rent an apartment and have no "shop" or garage. All my closets are full. 😭😭😭
But... but... there are always these things you have only one of, and you don't want to "waste" a storage drawer on. The problem is not the "one", but the many "ones" I have.

What a privilege to have enough space to work that way!
Love to see DIYers around the globe doing something what we have in common.
I love organization! 😃 ..... I've been wanting to procrastinate less, but I keep putting it off! 😁👍👊
Thumbs up for that sweet "Ohm Sweet Ohm" cross-stitch!

It's /productive/ procrastination 😆 Hey thanks for all your comments, glad you like my channel!
@@BeckyStern You might have noticed on your live counter that I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward for the next post.

I really agree with the Procrastination 😁

Yay! Don't you just love label makers! Probably one of the strangely most addicting inventions ever made (in a good way) 😊
I agree Becky. My bad habit of procrastination. ... I'm trying really hard this semester to put in more studio time & re-organize what's at home. 😂😭💪
Kinda disappointed that the first thing you labelled wasn't the label maker.
LOL
Ohm sweet ohm 😊 that's awesome
Ooh nice! I love watching organizing videos. I see lots of IKEA products, too.
I put a couple of those Ikea mag strips in my woodshop last year...yeah, great for screwdrivers, chisels, etc.

I've got the same label maker, very handy. I agree, I can't work in clutter.
Love the vibe of this video. : )
Motivational. I needed this. Thanks.

I Love it, so much... than i will get some like that by myself.
Nice
Smooooooooth😍
Cool, where did you get the red and yellow plastic organizer drawer things?
Online! Link in the description.
Cool, what kind of plant is that on the rack with the safety glasses?
My best guess would be a Tillandsia, also known as an air plant. They don't need soil instead getting their water from the air.
Exactly. Link in description. Also gets a weekly dunk so I don't have to worry about sawdust buildup.

Who says I'm not constantly in need of masonry bits and a receptacle for dead batteries? 🤣

Did you make the ohm sweet ohm ?
Yeah!
Omg..

It's not a waste if that's the most logical spot for it! I have a drawer for just my UV flashlight!
Ha... mine sits on my desk... as it is one of the "ones". LOL
