Give those burning fools a place to dwell
But don't throw thou wishes in an empty well
Regret is just so close it can hear the charming demon bell
      Now go retrive those wishes
      They are close
      They are near
      Two steps from hell
      Just to slowly disappear

Cody Ventura To me, 3:10 almost sounds like the enemy realizes they're about to be defeated while the hero gives a speech about why they are about to win and then at 3:33, the hero finishes the battle.

    • @OlympusPublicAffairs
      @OlympusPublicAffairs 9 ปีที่แล้ว +29

Cody Ventura I've always viewed the entire song as one man's battle to cope with the loss of a loved one, told through his playing of a violin:
0:06 the scene pans in to the man (in his 30's perhaps) at his wife's death bed in a well-furnished, comfortable room as he solemnly plays along while her life drains away.
0:42 a shadowy figure grips his shoulders and whispers into his ear. Likely saying things like "It's all your fault.", "You could have saved her.", "You didn't love her enough." This figure represents his inner demons wrestling with his logical explanations that it is just her time.
0:53 The man tries to turn away from the figure, who stays on him, constantly berating him with how he "failed as a husband" and should just give in to his sorrow.
1:05 With an anguished cry, the man collapses to his knees, unable to fight back these feelings. He sobs as he plays, while the shadowy figure dissipates into a cloud that rips around the room, displacing ornaments, cracking the walls, peeling the paint, breaking the furniture.
1:40 The room is in a much worse state. The walls are pale and the floorboards are rotted, the furniture is torn. The man looks older now, a graying beard on his blank face as the figure, now accompanied by a few more tear at the room, further degrading it. They do not touch him though, for the music keeps them at bay. But he is growing ever weaker, and wishes for it all to end. The figures draw closer and closer with every passing moment.
2:33 Sensing his weakness, the figures attempt to close in. Angry at the turmoil they wrack at him, he attempts to drive them back with this powerful verse. They recoil at the music, and the darkness over the room begins to lift and fade into a dull gray. Alas, he is not strong enough to drive them away forever, and his desperate fight takes a heavy toll on him.
3:10 With no more fight left, he collapses to his knees once again and begins to submit to the figures. The darkness descends again, and his fighting accomplished nothing. But, when all hope seems lost, a warm, white gloved hand grips his shoulder, he looks around and sees a group of pale, but beautiful women begin to circle him to protect him.
3:31 With the last of his strength, the man stands, his gray beard begins to gain color and his skin appears more youthful.
3:34 With the aid of his protectors (you can hear their choir) he unleashes his most powerful verse yet. The figures, unable to withstand the might of this powerful music, rip and tear around the group as the damages done begin to mend, the walls gradually regain their color, the rot peels away from the floorboards, the darkness is replaced by a white light that renews all it touches, and the figures begin to dissipate, defeated.
4:11 The figures gone, and the darkness lifted, the women step away, revealing one more person in the room: the man's wife, still as beautiful to him as the day she died. She glides toward the man as he feebly plays his last chord at 4:17 and weakly collapses into her arms. The man, now old with a long white beard gazes into her smiling face as his life drains from his eyes with the notes of the piano tune. Closing his eyes, he smiles in victory.
The "story" is supposed to be metaphorical in nature. The figures represent his depression as he copes with the loss of the woman he so desperately loved. The room is his mind, being torn to shreds by this depression. He fights to keep these feelings at bay, for if they take hold of him (if the feelings take complete control), he will die (suicide). The playing of the violin represents this fight, perhaps representing a hobby or something to lose himself in to forget about her death. He ages throughout this fight, for the fighting drains his energy. This also represents the passing of time as e continues to live with this regret and depression. In the end however, his actions alone were not enough to save himself. The women represent some outside force coming to his aid. They can be literally seen as angels (pointing towards him looking towards faith, whatever religion it may be) or even some friends or family to help him cope (which could still be seen as angels in his eyes). With all of this, he is able to shelve his depression, and in the end, he dies comfortably knowing that he will see her again in the afterlife, or at least knowing that they loved each other, and he was not to blame. This is represented by his wife's spirit holding him as he dies, much like he did her when she was dying. He dies happy, having won his fight with depression and knowing that he will be with her again.
Maybe not as epic as an actual fantasy fight, but its just what I see. It is a sad song, at least. That's what it makes me feel. Sorry for the wall of text.

*Let me tell you a story,*
The story of a endless day,
    The day I lost her,
The day she died in my arms,
The day she broke the promise,
The promise that she will never leave me,
The day I tried so hard to save her,
But in the end it doesn't matter,
The day I was left alone,
The day I asked the God,
    The day I asked Why?,
    The day I tasted blood,
    The day I felt love,
    The day I felt pain,
The pain of losing your loved ones,
    The day I lost,
    The reason to live,
The day i fought the skies,
The day i lost my brothers and sisters,
    The day the sky cried,
    The day when I cried,
The day the angels ravaged on us,
The day when i fought them,
The day I tried so hard,
    The day I never wanted,
The day I tried to save her,
The day I felt dispair and pain,
The day I could not help,
    The day I suffered,
The day we tried to fight,
    The day we lost everything,
The day a new Era begins,
    The day we lost but,
    The day we got hope,
    The day we knew,
    That we are not alone,
    The day I lost meaning,
    Meaning of life,
    The day I felt,
The day I had to live without her,
    *Regards*

0:05 - 0:50 You're standing next to your comrades, your brother in arms. You're sharing good times having a laugh as you watch the sun set. 0:51 - 1:39 As the night rises you see the flame of a thousand torches over the horizon. The enemy has trapped you in a valley and there is no way out. Your men set up camp as the enemy army marches ever forward. With a few hours left until the battle which seals your fate, your army outnumbered and your spirit waning, you go to sleep. 1:40 - 2:33 You dream a beautiful dream, one with your family. You remember the peaceful times you shared. You remember when you were just a small child enjoying the breeze with your mother clutching your hand. 2:34 - 3:09 You awake to the smell of fire, the sound of death, the cries of your men. The enemy has arrived much faster than you anticipated and have ambushed your camp. 3:10 - 3:30 You crawl to your knees and watch as destruction obliterates everything you have ever loved. Your friends. Your family. Everything is turning to dust. 3:31 - 4:09 With a shout you unsheathe your blade and charge into battle. You feel nothing but glory as you cut down man after man. More and more soldiers slice you stab you and you feel more and more wounds open. 4:10 - 4:30 You fall to the ground, riddled with arrows covered in slashes, feeling your blood seep into the ground. The world becomes hazy and you see your mother, as beautiful as ever, calling you to her. You feel nothing anymore as tears roll down your cheeks and your heartbeat beats for the last time.

" *I did not choose this path. I did not make the choice to turn this way.* But I couldn't help it. It took me over, controlled my body and mind, blinded me. I wasn't able to think, wasn't able to see right and wrong.
It all happened in a split of a second, and before I knew it, it was all over. I found myself standing there without knowing how I got there, the blade in my hand, soaked with his blood. And there he was, lying dead on the floor in front of me. A large wound in his chest, his face frozen in utter terror.
Was it really me? It cannot be! I did not want him dead! I did not want all this! Why did this fate choose me?!
But now there's no turning back. They came here to figure out what the noise was all about, and what they saw cannot be misunderstood. And what can I possibly say? I am guilty of this crime and nothing can change this.
If I could only explain that it wasn't my choice...It's the curse that I carry that made me lose control...
Because my Heart is evil, Black as coal. The devil itself cursed me when I was young. 'Your fate is now sealed, my dear boy' he said. 'One day, sweet child, you'll understand it all'
And now... now is that time. The king is dead, and I am his killer. And deep inside, at the depths of my chest, beats my *Blackheart*. "

This song always makes me think of a story that has been brewing in my head for a decade. It's a story about a fantasy world where magic is heavily controlled by those in power. A story about a boy stolen from his life. It's a story about a conscripted soldier raising in rank. It's a story of a respected captain betraying his superiors, recruiting those he was tasked with destroying and turning a legion of the king's army into the starts of a rebellion. It's a story about a man that thought he had lost it all until he learned what loss truly was. A story about a man that gains more than he ever dreamed possible and laments it greatly.

I always imagine a rollercoaster through a ghost castle and then at 1:03 it drops down through a wooden gate and makes all kinds of awesome turns n shit and at 1:40 the rollercoaster slowly enters a peaceful forest with deers and birds and other animals and at 2:15 it goes up a little hill with creeks and rivers, and at 2:30 it drops down an huge waterfall, underwater, through caves and underground dungeons with red torches and at 3:10 you come in a little german village with farmers and citizens, all calm and nice but at 3:30 suddenly a huge horse cavalry charges past the town with flags and spears charging at a big black army with the ghost castle behind them. At 4:10 you realize you have fallen asleep in a jungle with animals everywhere.

The first time I heard this was during a PlayStation commercial. I had one of those false-smart phones. Was built more like a flip phone, but instead of being a flip, it slid the keypad out from the back. When I first heard this song I had grabbed it, tried to find the song on my computer but couldn't, and decided to record the best part with the 'Record Audio' function on the phone straight from the commercial, after finding it on TH-cam.
I listened to that small recording so much. Sadly, my family wanted to move forward with the phones, so they got smart phones, and I got one of those Android LG Tablets. My Slide Phone doesn't have service anymore, and I lost track of it years ago.
    I'll never forget those memories.

This piece is insanely good. It inspired me to write some poetry. I call it Black Heart in honor of this blessed tune.
    Trust not the man
Present in your hour of need
    Where before he has never been;
    As fortunately found favor
    Lasts little,
And is lost sooner or later.
    For there lie black hearts
    Beneath kind waters.
Lost men with nothing to lose.
    By hate torn apart,
    Or made lie's fodder,
It is a dangerous path they choose.
    Embittered by the past,
    Or blinded by the future,
    They forge ahead on fire.
    Using hate to motivate,
    Or a silver tounge
To tell tales better left unspun.
    Burning with all their might,
    Until they are undone.
    And woe to those fooled.
To those caught in the path
    Of reckless entropy;
    Of endless tragedy.
To those caught in the web,
Of the monster they'll soon be.
    Alas, falling is too easy.
    You simply slip.
    Step too confidently,
And you'll wake in a blackness
    That you can't see.
    A corruption.
    One that will decay
    And wither away
    All vibrancy in life.
Until your golden heart turns grey,
And you can't imagine better days.
    Until all that's left
    Is a pale, distant glow
    Amid swirling shadows.
    A lantern in the darkness.
The last light of a fading fire.
And from pain will cruelty grow,
For a burning hate with no fuel
    Looks to find further fools.
