    Congratulations- your girls are looking fabulous - credits to the hairdresser.👍 Fancy or no - you are doing a great job, not only giving their original splendour back but also encouraging me to start working on my vintage girls.

    Thanks so much for this. I’m in the process of re-rooting a vintage bubblecut that had a partial crew cut by a previous owner. Recreating a bubblecut hairstyle is well beyond my skill set so I’ve opted for a conversion to a ponytail,
    I am much more confident about styling the new hair now!

    • @thatdollguy813
      @thatdollguy813  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good choice! I don’t think I could ever pull off a Bubblecut either! I’ve done a few ponys, and those are much easier, and look nice!

    I used to leave my new curls set by themselves with rollers for a looooong time with lots of hair gel in, do you mean they will set up permanently just with boiling water instead? Of course 2 of my 4 ponytails have shortened hair which makes the work harder, unfortunately ( I am a low budget collector and I like to save dolls that others do not want) .

    • @thatdollguy813
      @thatdollguy813  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’m the same way, totally!! I’m always getting fixer uppers! Yes, the boiled water perm will set your curls overnight, once they’ve dried! Then you just take your elastic band over the curls, to the top of the top knot, roll down, until the curls all bunch at the bottom, and you’re set!

    I just found a brunette #4 at my mother-in-laws and she’s in decent shape but needs her top knot redone and this video is so helpful!!
    Still trying to figure out how to attempt to fix some pink staining around her mouth but I think it’s probably too deep to remedy… looks like she’s been making out with Ken HARD.

    • @thatdollguy813
      @thatdollguy813  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oxy 10 cream, applied via a fine tipped cotton swab only on the stain, will make it fade after a few weeks, after wiping away and reapplying daily

    This is great - I just bought a Bubble and I had a bonus #6 head in it that need some help. I need to get a new body for her but I think I'll give it a whirl. What do you do for the multicurl (just use more bobby pins)? I really love that look! I've subscribed - have you ever redone a Bubble's hair? I'm not finding much out there so far for videos on that.

    • @thatdollguy813
      @thatdollguy813  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Colleen!! And welcome!! I'm so glad to see yo here! I bobbypin drinking straws and roll up to do my multi-curls, and clip with another bobbypin to hold in place. Then I just spoon boiled water over the curls without getting the topknot, and let air dry overnight. Then I take an elastic or ortho band, place it over the ponytail, up to the topknot, and slide it down as the curls at the bottom gather and separate, and viola! I've washed bubbles and used a Barbie brush to just brush and manipulate the hair until it takes on a shape that I like, working with the rooting pattern! Straight haired bubbles are the hardest to style cuz it just goes wherever it wants!

    Hey, I just discovered that I have a ponytail, two skippers, a midge, a kiddle, a fuzzy haired Ken. My ken's hair is rubbed off in spots. Is it salvageable?

      Absolutely!! I haven’t done one, but know that you can buy matching flocking! I’m not sure if you’d use spray adhesive and reflock, but I bet there are TH-cam videos that can show you, and a good site for doll restoration supplies is www.restoredoll.com

    • @thatdollguy813
      @thatdollguy813  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! No cut hair here! The piece that makes the top knot was always longer, because it needed to go around the ponytail, and still come to the same length as the rest when it was complete
