    I have been watching all your collection and I can tell you that you are the best professor of statistics I have ever seen. I have read many books, took many statistics class, but you explain in a way that makes things much easier. As you always mention, you are teaching us the concepts, which is very different from many classes, where they throw us loads of formulas to memorize but we do not even know what we are doing. I hope people keep contributing with donations and you keep up this channel running like a rock!! Thanks a lot for sharing all of this! :)

      @@marinstatlectures yes! these videos are really good and clear. It is a gift to be able to explain a complex concept in a way that is understandable and makes sense. Thanks!

    I am taking an introduction to R class in University with cero context of statistics and with a profound hate for math. This video is clarifying all of my doubts about what's going on in that class. Thank you so much. This really really really is bringing me out of a whole of depression

    Hitting this video in June 2022, having slowly but steadily progressed through the whole playlist, and what can I say? Amazing, I love it! Finally got confident with some major concepts in statistics they've been trying to just throw in your brains as I was a rookie med student (sd, for example).
    Nothing was not even vaguely clear as it is now. I really want to support you so that you can go further with this beautiful projects..
    Huge thanks from Italy/Germany!

    Beautiful teaching and science. And the ease with which you write from the other side is amazing.

      lol thanks...im not actually writing backwards though. i use something called a "Light Board" (or sometimes called a "Glass Board"). i write on a piece of glass with a camera on the other side of the glass. the writing is backwards to the camera, but after recording the image is "mirrored", so that the writing comes out the right way (I'm actually right handed, but in the video, it looks like I'm left handed.,.its because the image has been flipped/mirrored). UBC Studios makes this available to Faculty free of charge, so I'm fortunate to be able to work with them to create these videos :)

    Without this video, the odds of passing Biostatistics 2 at Makerere University School of Public Health, would be below 0.5.

    how to make estimate and interpret or predict y with p-value?

    • @marinstatlectures
      @marinstatlectures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, there's a lot of different things mixed up here...
      the p-value has the following interpretation...it tells us the probability of observing the estimated coefficient (b) that we did or one ever further from 0, if the null hypothesis is true, and the coefficient (b) for the population really is 0.
      in order to predict y, you can sub in an x-value and solve for the y-value. for example, if the model has an equation of:
      y = 10 + 5x, then for x=6, the predicted y value would be 10+(5*6) = 40
      i hope that answers the questions you have
