To align your workpiece perfectly in the Y axis anywhere on your spoilboard, jog your endmill down to just above the spoilboard.... Push the side at one corner of your workpiece against your cutter shank and screw that corner down... jog Y axis to other end of your workpiece and do the same at other end of your workpiece. Now your workpiece is perfectly aligned to your Y axis. The advantage is you can do this at any location on your spoilboard you choose.

Thanks so much for showing all the feeds and speed. I find that really helpful. Also, love the weight reduction in that scroll. Thoughtful design.

To be honest, you have a very sophisticated system for installing the workpiece on the CNC table. Personally, I use furniture pin. I fasten the workpiece on the table, I find the middle of it. Milling through holes at the edges of the workpiece. Then I remove the workpiece, and without changing the coordinates, I mill the same holes, but already on the CNC table. I insert furniture pin into the holes on the table, and put a blank on them. Voila - the workpiece is well fixed. And without unnecessary manipulations - you can turn the workpiece over, and process it from behind without losing coordinates. And the lines on the cnc table - for me - are not a very reliable option for positioning the workpiece...😊

Not only have I considered it, I used to do it that way. If I was making the same parts over and over and using the same size blanks, I would still do it that way. However, I never cut the same parts more than once and my blanks are never the same size. If I were to continue using the pin method, my waste board would be so full of holes, I would have to replace it a couple of times a month. Homing the X-Carve Pro only requires two mouse clicks.

@@HighlineGuitars And so that there are no holes from the pins, I seal them with these pins.

Thanks for sharing so much knowledge and going in to so much detail in your videos Monsieur Highline ! 🎩 Far more thorough than a lot of the channels out there.
