    Just for clarification, isn't there a double negation in "neither your online service nor the toaster was not up to the expected standard" ?

      Yes, you're absolutely right! I was so focussed on teaching about "neither" and "nor" + subject-verb agreement, that I missed this slip. Thanks for pointing that out!
