The mornings in Tagaytay were surrealistically pleasurable. I plan to return in the future.

I live about 13Km west of Tagaytay. Yes, it is much cooler up here than in many places in the Philippines. We moved to the PI about a year and a half ago. We had hoped to find a place with a view of Lake Taal and the volcano, but that area is some of the most expensive land in the Philippines. so we looked for land close to but without the great views. We found the right one near Alfonso, a small town a few KM from the Lake. We love it here. The last few weeks have been really cool here, I have had to wear long pants when I go outside. If you want a beach, you are not very far from Nusugbu.

I visited the Taal Vista Hotel restaurant a couple of years ago - great view down to the vulcano lake and excellent food! I agree Tagaytay could be a good place to settle. By the way, I enjoy your channel, lots of good information on the Philippines. Hope to be there sometimes myself for longer than just a vacation.

I have been to Tagaytay many times and stayed with good Local Filipino friends I really wanted to move there ...but the traffic on week ends is bumber to bumber ..they have to biggest and super view from the Starbucks coffee shop in Alfonso not for from where I worked....still have my beach house down in North Samar where we have a super long white sand beach with fun surf just a short walk down the beach....but can't get back there now so I am at my house on the big island of Hawaii...up in the hills we have snow here now up on top of the mountain Aloha...

Great place to visit and for me a perfect climate, public transport not great, but if you have a car no problems at all. About 1 hour to Manila airport. Not cheap to buy, but as you say, rentals sound good value

We are looking around latin America and SE Asia for cool temps, safe place, friendly people, decent hospital, and we hope to live initially on $1800/mo USD….my wife will still be 5 years away from getting hers. We also want a place that wont get boring after a few weeks.
Looks beautiful. We are looking all over from San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico, Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, Cuenca Ecuador, Arequipa Peru, Manizales Colombia, Dalat Vietnam, Cameron Highlands Malaysia, etc etc
    Thoughts ?
    Thx !….great video !

I keep thinking about Tagaytay or Baguio... but Alaminos is so much more affordable. I can use my extra money for day trips. Plus I’m kind of happy out here not being surrounded by other expats.

Certainly my first choice. Also when searching for a place to live, go to the neighborhood about 10 PM and listen. You'll find out if their is a neighbor doing a karoke, dogs etc.

My wife and I looked at properties in Tagaytay for retirement vacation home and we found five negatives. Too far from Manila and the Airport made worse by traffic, high price of subdivision property, prone to volcanic ash and landslides, average humidity of 80% all year. I can tell humidity is an issue as I've seen relatively new houses with already peeling paint and rust. Lastly, Tagaytay is like Hua Hin in Thailand with huge influx of residents from Manila spending time in Tagaytay in the weekends. That means the only quiet times in Tagaytay are from late Sunday evening to Friday morning.

Cebu is also a good location for those who want to live in the Central Philippines. I started out in Metro Manila in Manduluyong in 2018 and rented a cheap studio for 11K. You mentioned Subway. I have never seen a Subway here in Cebu. I was under the impression in 2018 that they were going out of business. Both of the subways near my place were shutdown and they would routinely run out of basic things like Lettuce. They don't know how to properly run a Subway supply chain wise which was ashame as it would be nice to be able to get good sandwiches here in the PH. They're not commonly eaten.

In the Philippines, If youre in the food business that involve rice, more likely you'll do well compare to running a Western resto. Coffee shop is an exception. Filipinos don't eat bread 3-4x a day but rice do.

I was going to move to Tagaytay until a Guy from the Philippines told me that it's on top of a live volcano.

    • @RichTravel1010
      @RichTravel1010  3 ปีที่แล้ว

It looks over at a live volcano and sits on a Super Volcano that’s not active. It’s not on top of an active volcano.

I have been to Tagaytay a few times. I didn't see any malls. That is one of the downsides to live there. Closest mall is 45-60 min away depending on traffic.

How can I transfer my pension in order that I can get it in the Philippines?
Is there an specific bank in order my pension will be transfer and I can use in the Philippines

It’s best to have an American Bank and use an ATM. But tell the bank you will be in the USA. Talk to them way before you leave to see if they will. Some won’t let you have a foreign address.

Tagaytay is not really that dangerous for many reasons. It’s actually pretty far from the volcano and the volcano is tiny. But I understand your feelings.
