Paddy truly deserves to win an Emmy for his performance as Viserys, or at the very least beign nominated for it. He fleshed out the character in such a real, complex, moving and human way, so full of nuance. That last episode, Gosh...tears man, TEARS! You could see everything! The guilt, the sadness, the love for his family...and to top it off that bittersweet smile, watching them all drinking, dancing and laughing together for the last time... brilliant!
Crazy how he managed to flesh out this character as much as Ned Stark or any other character in the original GoT, a series that had 4000+ pages of content to draw from for characterization, while Fire and Blood is not much better than a historical timeline with something like 4 chapters on the Dance.
Paddy is the Sean Bean of HOTD. Only present in one season of the show but his character and his significance to the story will echo throughout the rest of the series. It would be amazing to have young Rhaenyra/Viserys flashbacks later down the road, I love Milly and Paddy so much
I actually wonder if Paddy was offered the part of Ned Stark, because he told in a talk show he was offered a part in the first season of GoT but turned it down.
it will really feels like when the grandparents die and this big family begins to separate, but in this case it will be fatal for the Targaryen house, a tragedy
Never cried in GOT like I did that scene of Matt and Paddy with the crown. Bravo. What a great human as well. He deserves all the accolades for Viserys. Just rewatched the first episode/OG fight with Daemon AFTER seeing his death, and it takes on a whole other emotion.
Mr. Considine you are elegant and truly a regal actor. Your personality and kindness surfaced during the most memorable and touching scenes throughout each episode. I am hoping you win as many awards as possible for this role Sir.
I love how this whole interview is just Josh trying to ask questions or steer the direction, but Paddy just wants to talk about his favourite films. Lol. Bless
One of the best episodes of anything I've witnessed. His performance combined with the other cast, the composer, director, etc have created something truly beautiful.
Oh man i truly hope Paddy gets tons of amazing offers now, he clearly has been waiting for this kind of recognition and he absolutely deserves it. I cannot wait to see the stuff he does next.
Man whou woulda though an actor as accomplished as he is has deep rooted self esteem issues and self doubts I guess that makes me to be more comnfortably with myself.
18:15 I love this part. I defended King Viserys from many reactors who said that Viserys is weak in the earlier episodes. It was mostly because Daemon said it and most people stan Daemon, but truth of the matter is Daemon is a great warrior but he doesn't know jack about ruling. Viserys is the best king we've seen in GOT television not including the few seconds we saw Jaehaerys in the first episode.
When he was saying "no more" in his deathbed it shocked me, I thought I was watching my grandfather when he died, I couldn't believe how real it was I forgot I was watching a TV show. I assumed he was drawing from personal experience, now I know for sure he was, what a talent.
Amazing performance and great actor. I cried this whole episode. Meeting his grandchildren, The Throne room scene and his death. Wawooo just waoooo. This is why GOT universe is so amazing. Must be so talented to cast these talented actors and make them match. Terrific
It's amazing how Fire and Blood was nothing but a historical timeline of events and somehow the writers and Considine managed to flesh out this character to such great lengths and bring him to life as much as Ned Stark or any main character in the original Game of Thrones which had 4000 pages of content to draw from.
I love that Josh was ready to let him go and he kept the conversation like "wait a min, I have more things to share with you", what a lovely human. I hope he'll get a lot of scripts with very interesting characters from now on, because I don't want to wait too much to see him on-screen again. For those, like me, that didn't know his band Riding the Low, go and have a listen.
absolutely incredible performance. as a hardcore asoiaf fan who’s first reaction to the timeline was “ugh why are they starting in viserys’ reign”, he has greatly impacted how i view the character
I would watch this man in literally anything. His ability to completely transform his entire body, his personality, etc...it's just incredible. Such range as an actor is rare but he makes it look easy.
Paddy is a very humble man. I have no idea what he's gonna do when he gets on stage thanking everyone for the EMMY he SHOULD win. His performance in episode 8 sealed it for me. I don't get the sniffles much during movies and TV shows but that man had my "allergies" on 1000%. Whether he knows it or not...his performance is already legendary in my eyes. Unbelievable work this season. Thank you Paddy and Josh thank you for the wonderful and insightful interview.
Viscerys was one of my favorite characters. I loved that he was always a father first to Rhaenyra. I love how he was always her number one supporter no matter what. I don’t believe he was blind to the fact that Rhaenyra’s 3 eldest son’s didn’t favor Laenor. Regardless of the boys biological father he didn’t care because they were still his grandson’s and he loved them. His character was beautifully written and Paddy Considine executed the role of King Viscerys to perfection. I am eagerly awaiting Paddy Considine’s Emmy winning speech. ❤❤
Paddy consadine deserves an Emmy Award, made a tremendous performance and fantastic and magnificent Scene did last Sunday, I admire him very much, ❤️👑⚔️ Always the king Viserys! 🔥👑🔥
Viserys was such a compelling and complicated man, I got frustrated with him alot, but I truly think that just speaks to Paddy's skill as an actor. What a damn chad.
I just love how he is always so upfront, beredt and honest. The more I see of him the more I'm sure I'll be a lifetime follower :3 Thank you so much for this interview!
Looooved this interview. You can tell they really bonded and had a good time together when Josh was being gracious and tried to end the interview but Paddy shot a question back at him about Rambo at the end.
Paddy has always been such an inspiration, for my generation, "Dead Man's Shoes" came out the year we started Uni in the uk. That film became a kind of talisman for our independent filmmaking endeavours, Paddy in turn personified that. He's in my opinion, the best of his generation in England. + We loved "Le Donk's Breakdancing Masterclass" xxx
This was such a fantastic interview. Great questions from Josh. He has the ability to bring out the best from his subjects. Paddy's humble answers and amusing anecdotes made me love him even more.
That was an absolutely fantastic interview. It felt like I was just listening in on a conversation, honestly 10/10 Paddy was remarkable, but your conversational skills were just brilliant and the two of you talking together was great
I've been a fan for quite some time. Every project Paddy's done is worth watching. Even if it's a meh movie, he absolutely delivers. I'm so happy he's getting the love and recognition he deserves ❤️
I'm really happy for Paddy and that he feels fulfilled by his performance as Viserys. It really was such a pleasant surprise to see his stellar acting on HOTD. Viserys easily could have been, as Paddy put it, just "some boring king", but Paddy (and due credit to the writers as well) really made the character feel so very genuine and human. His emotion really resonated with me in the audience. I was a bit familiar with the story beforehand (hadn't read Fire & Blood but I have read the relevant chapters in World of Ice and Fire) and Viserys was a character who I didn't expect I'd come out the other end thinking "wow I think he was my favorite character". Whether or not he wins an award for the role (and he certainly deserves one in my opinion), I'm glad it took him "to the next level" and helped him demonstrate and realize more of the potential he knows he has. And I'll look forward to what's next.
Paddy Considine’s went from a familiar face to a stand out when I saw The Third Day. His performance as Viscerys put him in the top tier of great actors. It truly is a thing of beauty to watch. He made Art and his Viscerys is now an icon. Bravo!
Paddy was inspired casting. A total surprise, Viserys is a tricky Targaryen to bring to life, as he's really neither side of this infamous coin but my god if there was a coin flip for performance between Greatness and Madness Paddy was certainly on the side of Greatness. I think that walk up to the throne may well be my favourite moment of westeros on screen.
Watching his performance as Viserys in the last episode, all i could think about was " Holy s*it, what a performance from Paddy". Someone give this man an emmy please!!
Please tell Paddy if you talk to him that out of all the roles and actors, it was his portrayal of Viserys that was I transfixed by - from the outset. Not the others, although everyone is superb. I was watching Viserys Targaryen, First of His Name - aka Paddy Considine. And each time he graced the screen, my heart broke just a little more, in wonder and sadness. Great things will happen for Paddy now, I believe. Much love and admiration from many of us.

Incredible performance in episode 8. Very moving. Couldn't agree more with your assessment.
I love they were able to convince Ryan to keep the daemon crown scene in, it's just the perfect topping to that scene.
Yes an George messaged him about how he portrayed king Visarys better than he did in the book he really brought him to life
