Automatic electric roller blinds on Arduino DIY

  • Homemade automatic transmission with gear for roller blinds on the Arduino. Automatic blinds with photocell hands. Homemade electric for curtains. Automatic control for the blind. How to make curtains lowered and raised themselves?
    The idea for this project originated at me 2 years ago. In May 2016 I made reducer with sprocket laminate. All dimensions are chosen experimentally, experimental way, sometimes at random, based on the engine mounting holes, drill diameter ring (crowns) for wood and fixing points. Then he began to study the Arduino programming. This is my first project. Much would now be done differently, so judge strictly))
    COMPONENTS:
    ali.pub/mxdce - board Arduino Uno R3
    ali.pub/vaxoi - EasyDriver v44 A3967 (stepper motor driver)
    ali.pub/ncrj4 - Stepper motor 42SHD0001 (Nema size 17)
    ali.pub/3bvug - connecting wires 20 cm (10 cm possible - ali.pub/ltc7p)
    ali.pub/zof37 - Photoresistors (10 pcs.). I walked it in a set with the Arduino.
    The resistor is used to 10k. He took what was caught)
    ali.pub/htsk8 - I advise you to take the motor bracket (included 2 pcs.)

    goo.gl/Lk5oX4 - Generator gears online
    goo.gl/fFpZpy - Drawing gears support a full-size (with no size print). The right side is not needed!
    goo.gl/s7Eo8J - Wiring (Established in Fritzing program - goo.gl/zS8TKf)
    goo.gl/BcgBLb - program (sketch)
    FEATURES sprocket and gear:
    Sprocket: D = 25 mm,
    Small gear wheel (drive): D = 17 mm, n = 6, h = 7 mm,
    Large gear wheel (driven): D = 58 mm, n = 24, h = 7 mm,
    where D - diameter, n - number of teeth, h - distance between zubyami (step)
    NOTES:
    1) Print templates and pasted on plywood or laminate, and only then cut out.
    2) The smaller the sprocket, the engine will be easier. We need to pick up a cylindrical object that if the wrap around the chain, the balls must cross at the same level.
    3) Furniture screed perfectly approached as the axis of the driven gear.
    4) The most good way to secure the pinion on the motor shaft was sandpaper. If a drop of super glue, then tightly.
    5) For installation on a flat support wall need to rotate through 90 degrees (when the design will bulge) or change its shape. For both cases, you need to purchase for the engine mount. In my case, the kitchen tiles is not possible to use this method. Incidentally hotmelt keeps excellent))

      Hey just discovered this channel! By the way the production of the video is really good. Keep it up !
      Perhaps, you could try making a Wi-Fi Swich? (For eg, turning on a light or a stereo while you're still at work)
      ps: The only slightly complain I might have is that sketchy music, that prob 80% of cheap tutorials in instagram have. Maybe consider using some type of soothing music !

      Jose V wouldn't think so. But it shouldn't be to hard to do that. Either by hand or by printer. Think by hand is faster though.

    Thanks for a REALLY GOOD tutorial! 😃
    And BIG thumbs up for not only providing links to all the necessary parts, but also writing out the NAME/LABELING for each one in full! I really HATE when people are using affiliate links that requires you to visit the link in order to figure out the full product label! 😩
    I don't visit certain sites that are simillar to Amazon etc. (I'm not necesarily talking about Amazon here!) due to their heavy datacollection policy, so I'm forced to search for the parts on other sites that has terms and condition I can agree to!
    (And no, disabling cookies for ALL sites doesn't prevent online profiling. There are ways for companies to get around that 😑 It's not that I have stuff to hide or anything, it's just the fact that they seemingly don't care if I'm comfortable giving strangers access to my life or not. They are just selfishly forcing themselves in anyway 😒)

    Using the drill to turn the pieces while holding them against the sandpaper is a great way to adjust their size and gives a near perfect precision. It's also good to use connectors whenever you can. Overall, I quite enjoyed watching the project take shape. One thing to adjust is to put a tube over the photoresistor to direct the light that gets to it, so it's easier to adjust when you want it to receive light, where you want it to receive light from and how much.

    Great stuff. That nema 17 will have loads of power for that job. I have a small servo doing the same thing. I am on my third auto blind now. To make things easier I got rid of the chain and glued the blind bung straight onto the motor using and stainless tube that I crushed onto the keyed shaft. But instead of stepper I used a geared motor off ebay. Then a hall effect transistor to detect where the shaft was. Work great on BnQ blinds.

      Thank you for your comment! :) Maybe there are better ways of securing small gear on the motor shaft, but this option is non-adhesive and is kept pretty well. A piece of sandpaper was imposed on the shaft, and on top of tightly planted gear. many options have been tried. I wanted to show the process on video, but I could not remove the gear)) So she sat tight. If something is not clear, I will be glad to answer questions. Thank you for subscribing! :)

    Awsome work!! I liked you approach - I have only one question, Why you didn't mount it on he top part at the same level of the axel of the Blinds? But for most all the thinking you put in this what and how you solve with common resource is the impressive part.....I think there are a couples of initial setup if the power goes off that you might have to do - like where is zero position (is fully open)? Or the arduion will run a full open (that will require control the physical speed of the step motor to check if is not moving to stop it)

    • @dial2277
      @dial2277  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the nice comment! Some people offered to fix the motor on the axis of the curtains, but I do not want to spoil the main structure. Perhaps another time. I've been wanting to do it with a chain-gearing. The problem with turning off the power is not solved yet. Top or bottom position is set at the first stage. If it's light, it is necessary to draw the curtains, and then connect the power.

    How did you increase the torque by adding those geared wheels? Can you please explain to me?

    • @dial2277
      @dial2277  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your question! With great gear I just increased the shoulder of the force. The rotation speed is reduced and torque increased. More detail you can read about it by typing into a search engine the word "reduction gear". ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B5%D1%85%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%87%D0%B5%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80

    Hi there. I am impressed with your project. Its very nicely done. I badly want to make it for my home but the only difference is that I want to operate the curtain manually too , apart from electrically. One of the things I know I have to keep in mind for that is the detent torque of the motor I choose. I am not able to find the detent torque for the motor 42SHD0001. Can you help me with that? In your model, would you be able to operate this manually too if needed?

    • @dial2277
      @dial2277  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback! Unfortunately in my project there is no manual control. Maybe if you change the sketch. It is necessary to switch off the motor power when not in use. I do not know how to do it yet.

      I suggest to not use an automated light control. You can operate it via Tasker on an Android device from your phone in case you want to pull them up or down at different times of the day, and still have Tasker to do it at specific times of the day.

      Thank you! To create a chain wheel, I did not use any programs. I enjoyed the materials at hand, as shown in the video. I divided the circle into 5 parts (reference to the template is in the description) and noted places for balls.
