I can't wait to live there🥰🥰am so blessed to live in Australia. I love Melbourne but when i visited GC i was like this is it am moving here,it's so beautiful
I mis-spent my youth on the Gold Coast when the original Birdwatchers Bar was there, and it was a friendly fun place to go to. Now, its all just glitter and sparkle that hides a seediness that only the locals know all too well. You have to "love" the cleverly designed seating that prevents homeless people and "persons affected by drugs and alcohol" and other socially undesirable people from getting too comfortable and having a snooze on them. I'm surprised they didn't simply install sprinklers to go off randomly to shoo them away as if they were seagulls around a hot chip. I'll always try to remember the family friendly holidays (and the wicked teen years) that I had on the Gold Coast when it was a happy and easy going place to spend time. Now it's all "Party, pose and pout". Thanks for sharing. I was hoping to see some of the original heart of Surfers Paradise. Now it's all show pony like every other tourist magnet anywhere in the world.
Agree totally. The heart and soul has all gone. When I walk around after 10:00pm I'm scared and always watching my back. If you want to remember the old Gold Coast there is a Facebook page called "Have you seen the old Gold Coast" - worth a look. Thanks for your comment.
Hello and thanks for your comment. I filmed this in October 2016. I'm currently holidaying in Surfers - Cavill Av hasn't changed much since my last visit. However on the road facing the beach there are two huge apartment towers going up ... one of them will be 250 meters tall. They both should be finished in 2-3- years.
Pizza Hut was shut down? I seem to remember eating there in 2001. Do you live in Surfers? I went to uni there (Griffith) for a year in 2001 and miss the hell out of it almost monthly :/ At 8:05 you aaaaalmost filmed Aloha apartments where I lived.

No I don't live in Surfer's but I wish I did. Yeah I miss Surfer's and the whole Gold Coast. I hope to retire there one day. Thanks for your comment.

Cavill Av is full of shops such as cafes and restaurants and bars so I'm sure some if not all of them will be open on Christmas Day.
