seriously gentlemen... bruce springsteen wrote about a record with three small chords teaching him more than he ever learned in school.. well this beautiful cover of this song... could teach anyone that ever had a heart how to sing a song... well done... thanks! :)
It's extremely difficult to do justice to a Molina original, but these guys knock it out the park here. Amazing take. Only cover of a Molina song that even comes close is Will Johnson's version of "The Big Game is Every Night." Really looking forward to looking into some of these guys' original works.
Hey, just for future reference..something to think on..you could have made the same point without spitting on all of those who contributed to that 2 disc set by labeling it "atrocious". None of those artists, or the label, made a cent off that collection. And they weren't doing it for that. They did it all for Jason's family and his memory, and did it out of a place of love. If you didn't like any of it -- fair enough. I can think of plenty of songs important to me, that I don't like the cover version. But when something is done from the setting that collection was created for...why piss on it with such a negative opinion? Why not stick with your main (and accurate point) that this is a beautiful cover of a beautiful song, written by a beautiful man.
William Schaff Point well taken. Comment edited. I appreciate all the time and effort those artists put in to help out Jason's family. I also love the incredible screenprint map that came with the discs. I think we all need such a "map for troubled times," and Jason's songs have served the same sort of purpose for me and countless others.
Thank you for this. Really beautiful. I love the twang in your voice and the harmony. So glad I found this. Best Molina/Songs Ohio cover I've heard yet. Thanks again for bringing a sincerely beautiful song to life again.
You never hear me talk about one day getting out Why put a new address on the same old loneliness Everybody knows where that is We built that house of his And when he's not home Someone else you know always is If Heaven's really coming back I hope it has a heart attack When they see how dangerous it is for guys like that The night has always known when it's time to get going When it's really been so long that it starts showing It's always had that ghost who always almost Tells me the Secret How there's really no difference in who he was once And who he's become Everything you hated me for Honey there was so much more I just didn't get busted But I'm not looking for an easy way out This whole life it's been about Try and try and try And try and try and try To be simple again
This is what I call doing justice to the original. Just wow.
Ten Years Gone. Miss You Jason.
Thank you for leaving in the outtro. It is the most heartbreaking part of the song and so many covers of this song exclude it for some reason.
sitting here listening to this with tears in my eyes
they have a great cigarette player
I cant stop listening to this

Well done fellahs, captured the essence

You are right, Ryhisner. None can bit Jason for his voice, and the sentiment that comes from the bottom of his heart.

Who in this fucking world would put a thumb down on such a beautiful song?
outstanding! It's somewhat sad to think that the majority of people will never know Molina's songs.
groundcat molina was there when my momma wasn't

You never hear me talk about one day getting out
Why put a new address on the same old loneliness
Everybody knows where that is
We built that house of his
And when he's not home
Someone else you know always is
If Heaven's really coming back
I hope it has a heart attack
When they see how dangerous it is for guys like that
The night has always known when it's time to get going
When it's really been so long that it starts showing
It's always had that ghost who always almost
Tells me the Secret
How there's really no difference in who he was once
And who he's become
Everything you hated me for Honey there was so much more
I just didn't get busted
But I'm not looking for an easy way out
This whole life it's been about
Try and try and try
And try and try and try
To be simple again
Like stepping on the old hounds tail
Good but have a listen to Amanda Shires version.
Why that one word?
Incredible cover. Lead is so right. Cajone dude trying to harmonize just doesn't work.
It should of only been one person singing.
Ah, that's what your rule books says?
@@tua7582 no. That's what would of sounded good. there harmonies off key.
