  • In this next route learning video, we take a journey along the Riviera Line between Paignton and Exeter St. Davids on a wet afternoon. Our traction for the journey is an Intercity-livery HST utilising the new AP Valenta enhancement pack, and we call at Torquay and Newton Abbott along the way.
You can purchase the AP Valenta enhancement pack here:

Lived in Kingskerswell, spent many happy years at Newton Abbot. The scenery even shows the house I lived in. Very Nice. Subbed.

The last trip that I made along this route was behind a Merchant Navy class Pacific on a special from Birmingham New Street to Kingswear. It was a foggy morning, but as we rounded the corner onto the sea wall we burst out of the fog into brilliant sunshine. It was quite magical, and we had some astonished looks from bystanders on the beach as we stormed along.

This AP Valenta enhancement pack is obviously good because this video is even better than the 2015 one of the same route. Beat that, you 800s!!! Thank you again!

Great to see the Valenta HST running yet again on this channel and I suspect that a VP185 will be coming soon. But talking of wheel slip, I have a story about how damaging wheel slip can get. I remember the day was extremely hot and my father had been looking through a train magazine and he had found an article stating a heritage run in Wales had had to be cancelled because the driver added to much throttle while departing a station with a heavy load causing wheel slip so severe, the loco's drive wheels had welded themselves to the track. The loco was a vintage Saint Class as well. Crazy.

I'm starting to see the Class 800's on testing and being hauled by road , Slightly depressing knowing they will take out these 125 babies !!

Florida Railfanning 812 The group that preserved the 41 planned to get their hands on a production HST waay before. They never thought they'd last this long!

And sadly thar time arrived earlier this year but at least those of us in the west county still get to see the hst running, all be it in a shorter 'castle' set with 4 mk3 coaches which does enable faster acceleration.

I've got a haswell i5 @ 3.4g and a gtx 1080. Can run in 4k dsr at 40 to 60 fps but drops to about 12 when loading the next tile! Strangely, it does the same on 1080p and 720p!

PTGRail impressive, I run an i7 7700k with only 8gb ram but face stutters, frame rate drops and even crashes. I'm in the middle of sorting it out but do not get it as smooth as this, even with a 1070. Presume you have Windows 7.
