- This video features movie locations from the 1983 comedy hit. First up is Winthorpe's Residence at 2014 Delancey Pl, Philadelphia. Staying in Philly, next up is the Duke & Duke Building which is really the Wells Fargo Building on Broad St. Then it is off to the Heritage Club (Exterior) which is the Curtis Institute of Music at 1726 Locust St, right next to Rittenhouse Sq. It's here where Billy Ray is questioned by the police officers. The Police Station/Jail (Exterior) was filmed at 1700 Spring St. This is where Clarence Beeks completes the setup, and where Louis meets Ophelia (Jamie Lee Curtis). The giant Clothes Pin Sculpture (Bank Exterior) is located at 1500 Market St. Louis and Billy Ray have another run-in, this time in front of Independence Hall on Chestnut St. Ophelia's apartment will also be seen, 1210 South St. New York City stood in as Philadelphia in a few scenes but then as itself in others. The Bar Scene was shot at 2794 Broadway in Manhattan. The Squash Club is the Heights Casino at 75 Montague St in Brooklyn. The street where he stumbles off the bus drunk in his Santa outfit is 223 Ave B also in Manhattan. Beeks makes a pay phone call outside the NY County Supreme Court. The World Trade Center site will be on display here, including The National September 11 Memorial Museum. Lastly, Pier 1 in Brooklyn will be seen by the bridge, where we learn Beeks and the gorilla live happily ever after.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the amount of time you took to put this location comparison video together. Trading Places is a great American film classic. I know what I'm spooling up on the projector tonight, great job, Nick!
Thanks so much for the awesome feedback! I am going to do a follow up video in the future for the remaining locations.
Whenever I watch things like this, I like to look how vegetation and streets have either changed or stayed the same. Seeing some of the same trees 30 years later is pretty cool.
Another great video. Your vids stand out for me because you capture the identical filming spot and angle so well. The 80's were my favourite decade for films and you've covered so many of them. There aren't many youtube videos that I can stay glued for 30 minutes+ but the time zips by watching yours. Brilliant... Thank you.
That really means a lot, and thanks for taking the time to comment! I definitely share your appreciation for the 80s, special time.
My uncle Carmen appeared in the opening shots, cleaning up some heads of lettuce. He passed away many years ago. Always brings a smile when we see his face.
Love the effort you put into these videos. A sign of true passion. Trading places is a classic.
Awesome movie awesome matchup and absolutely great video
Classic lol.. Thanks a lot Mike…
Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Awesome video, Trading Places is still one of my favorite movies after all these years and I must have watched it at least 50 times. It's still funny and the story line holds up even today. It was great to see the filming locations and you did a wonderful job at matching up the exact locations.
Glad you enjoyed the video, and I really appreciate the compliment.
It never ceases to amaze me how things change so quickly. 30 years is quick.
Nearly 40 yrs.
A underrated classic! Got this on DVD! The 911 ending is still sad, even after 20 years!
One of my very few desert island movies. Thank you so much for this great job.
Thank you!
Wow, i am blown away by the way you put everything together.
You did such a wonderful job.
It brought back so many memories of how really funny that movie was. Thank you! ❤
That’s very kind of you, thanks a lot!
This was a very good movie. I feel like the weather was more foggy, cloudy, and cold back then. Thanks for making this.
It would've been filmed in the Winter of 82...hence the foggy/snowy surroundings...This was probably filmed in the Spring, and only just uploaded....
Supposed to be a Christmas movie.
The streets werent filled that time, today it seems all totally overfilled with people and vehicles.
Great memories! Thank you
Looking good Louis! Feeling good Billy Ray!
The Duke’s mansion was Chestnut Hill College.
Great video!
Thanks!
I absolutely love this movie. Watched a million times! I really enjoyed your video man thanks.
That’s awesome, and thank you!

Thanks so much, greatly appreciated!
merry christmas and new year everyone, thanks for another video of a classic from my childhood
I have just begun to see your videos recently and I really love the production values you bring to them and your voice over work is spot on. More than entertaining, I find them informative, which is value added.
I like the way you handled the World Trade Center segment, very respectful and you pretty much let the images do the speaking. I have had a hard time dealing with the 911 tragedy. Back in the late 60's into the early 70's, after working evening shifts in North Jersey, I would go over to the construction site at 1 or 2 in the morning to look at the progress being made. I knew this was a historic building being made and wanted to watch its creation. I often wondered over those several years about the future, thinking about the day when it or other buildings needed to be replaced, how they would accomplish that task, never thinking for a moment about a terrorist attack. After the buildings were gone on 911, I would avoid looking over at New York City, while travelling on the NJ Turnpike or from scenic view points in NJ, it was too disturbing. Time has passed and I can handle it now but it is a wound that will never heal.
Thank you for the effort you have taken in creating these videos.
I really appreciate the feedback.
While I didn’t get to see the creation of the WTC, I know what you mean. Time helps heal all wounds, glad to hear you’re able to handle the situation better now. I did the same thing for a while, in terms of avoidance.
Thanks a lot.
GREAT JOB!!!!! Watching from Scotland
Thanks a lot Tim!! Happy Holidays!!
Excellent job with the split screen very very well done
Thanks a lot!
Outstanding Job Nick! Just loved it. Thank You Mark
Haven't been to the 911 Memorial yet Nick, and not sure when I'll go. Took me about 8 months after the tragedy before I went downtown again. On my way to the former J&R Music World, I would always look up and over at The Towers, but then they weren't there, and I was pissed. It's been nearly 21 years now, and my feelings haven't changed all that much. Thanks for including that at the end, and upfront, featuring one of my favorite Eddie Murphy films of all-time: Trading Places!
I really love trading places I watch it at Christmas time and in the year also great job finding the locations fantastic video as always 👍
Many thanks bud!.. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
@@NickP Thank you have a great Christmas time to you and yours also 🎄👍

Another great video Nick! On of my faves this one.
Thanks a lot!
Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year, Nick. Thanks for all of your content.
Thanks so much Anthony! And a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!!
Great vid great commentary!!!
Such a great movie and so nice the location of filming that movie good job sir 👍❤
Thank you!
@@NickP always welcome sir nick ☺🙏
What a great movie.
I lived in Philly’90-‘95 and at one point was a bike messenger and stopped at many of these locations. Ironically my next destination in life was St. Croix and know Davis Bay well. Good job.
If you do Shawshank you’ll need to go to St. Croix to film Grassy Point and Sandy point for the ending. You could do an update edit on here with Davis Bay while there. Great work on such a classic.
That’s great, I like Philly. I’ll do Shawshank Redemption one day as well.
Thanks a lot!
One of my all time favorite movies. Top notch video as usual.
Thanks a lot bro!
Thanks for the classy touch on 911. I was a police officer in NY working that day. I haven't returned to Ground Zero since then. Someday I will.
Wow, my hat is off to you. I understand completely and hope you do one day. Glad you appreciated the video.
Brilliant video my friend . Loved this movie thanks for sharing the locations 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
@@NickP thanks nick . Love your channel . See you on the next one 👏
@@scouse_till_i_die I really appreciate it
@@NickP your welcome sir 🙌
Great work man!!!
Greatly appreciated!
This is a Christmas classic. Drunk Santa eating salmon through his beard. New year party on the train with the gorilla 😂
I've watched 3 people react to this movie the last couple days, maybe a dozen first timers overall and it's still funny as hell and holds up well, the Dan Ackroyd blackface scene gets a lot of surprise reactions but overall newer viewers enjoy it.
Great bloody video!!! Love your work!! Subscribed!
Many thanks!
Nick P on point... Great Video. You do an awesome job with the filming locations.
Thanks a lot!
Solid GOLD as usual Nick!! 👏😀
Thanks a lot!
New to your channel. Great work, much appreciated
Many thanks to you
me gusto mucho tu video, te lo agradezco, trading places es una de mis peliculas favoritas =)
And she stepped on the ball!
LLLOOOOLLLLLL
Wonder if the back n forth between NYC and Philly had anything to do with filming schedules and SNL. I cannot even remember if trading places was after they both had left SNL or not.
Anyways. Imma late to the party. But great video. Love how you cross fade audio between live and movie. And the great care you obviously take to frame up your shots as close to the original as possible. Really transports me right into the movie and back in time.
Jersey guy here so the ties to WTC a numerous and some still raw even after all this time. Kudos for the great respect and courtesy you showed.
Well done
That would make sense for SnL, good call.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video and all that goes with it… It brings me back as well! Many thanks for the great feedback. Happy New Year!
Good job !
Excellent content 👌
Thanks a lot
Liked and shared my friend,I know its been a minute, hope you and yours are well, early Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,I loved this movie, heck of a job as always my man!
My good man Tony, how are you? I hear ya, and it’s great to hear from you. Wising you the same bud! I’ll be by soon, thanks a lot!
Obligatory nick p was also here 😂 hell of a job my friend! CLASSIC movie
Haha Nice… Thanks a lot bud!
01:11 Haha I love how you can barely keep it together saying his name "Louis Winthorp III"!! Awesome one again, Nick! Trading Places is such a classic. Then the thing about the 911 memorial museum is that when it opened up I think in late 2011 or 2012, I was there then, everyone had a lot of respect for the place and its history. I went back in 2015 and a lot of tourists made silly selfies in front of the pools, which I found quite offensive. Anyhow, keep filming locations!
Lolll it was a challenge…
Yes, I know what you mean… getting the over views were tough enough, and I couldn’t include the walk by tower 2, screen over screen. It didn’t sit right with me. I felt I covered it enough. I honestly had to fight back some tears putting that segment together. It was tough.
As always, thanks a lot Scotti!
Excelente video!
Many thanks!
Thoroughly enjoyed this, Nick is the best in the business
Awesome..Thanks so much!
Keeping up the hard work nick..
Great job!.
Absolutely class movie.
Jamie Lee Curtis has some fabulous parts too! 👌
Oh for sure, and that’s much appreciated Geoffrey!
Dan Aykroyd would definitely agree with your statement as well 🤣
And she had two fabulous other things...
"Merry New Year!" "Looking good Louis!"
Excellent job
Thanks!
Thank you for locating the Philly locations for this movie. The city needs to be known for other movies. I'm glad you didn't do Rocky this day. This is so well done. Much appreciation.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great work pal, appreciate the time and effort, the detail was spot on, you have made a English man very happy, one of my favourite films 👍
That’s awesome bud, thanks a lot!

Haha Thanks a lot Nathan, and I hope all is well! A very Merry New and Christmas to you and yours as well LOL.
Very beautiful
I gotta say, Eddie Murphy wore a suit really well. I remember back those days, that if Eddie Murphy was in a movie, I knew I was going to laugh.
I really wanted to comment on an interesting point you made about the characters trying and failing to go back to their roots. I find that one very interesting and a very astute observation in general.
Both characters had their lives upended, and fond themselves put in to situations where they had no business being, and couldn't make any sense of it, and trying to rebuild what was taken from them. But, they couldn't because their old worlds were gone, so it was a matter of moving forward, and out of this strange place they were in to rebuild new lives for themselves. And both became better people afterwards.
Perfect Job, man. I think the hardest to find was Ophelias Appartment, how is it possible to know where these small locations are when not even the Director of that movie remembers about...?
Takes some searching and comparing, google maps is a big help. The longer you do this, the better you get at identifying areas. Also, research helps out as well.
I love this movie! My inner Ivy is on fire 🔥.
More sterling work from you Nick P! Well played! Are you a New Yorker yourself?
Thanks again, and yes I am.
Awesome job Nick and an awesome movie as well!!! Thank you for showing it to us and thank you for showing us the 9/11 memorial! :)
Thanks my classy friends. Hope the holiday season is treating you well!!
8:49 aw you skipped the slam! HAHA!
Hahaha
Thanks for your best videos. Make please video about "Punisher" filming places. Thanks🙂🤝
Haven't seen this film in a long while. Forgotten it was partially set in Philadelphia, a place I haven't been to. Been to New York City twice though, going up a few skyscrapers. We don't get many where I live, they're building one in town right now but it won't be as tall as anything in NYC, or even London. As a kid, I always saw New York in media and wanted to go there, so many tall buildings I often wondered what it would be like to be around them, and such wide roads too. The city I live in couldn't be more different...although they rather funnily renamed the New Street train station as Grand Central....yeah I've been to the real one and it's way nicer than ours. If I ever get to go to America again, I don't really know where I'll go. It's not often I get to travel. I only went to Scotland for the first time last year and been to Ireland once...when I was 7 in the mid 90's. Been to France and Wales on school trips....that's all the countries I've been to.
Oh well, nice video, I always like to see how things used to be in some capacity.
You’ve been to some great places, those of which I’d love to visit someday myself.
Thanks so much for the feedback. There really is something difficult to put into words that you feel when having a then and now experience. Interesting stuff!
"Who's been putting out their Kools on my floor?" "In Philadelphia, it's worth fifty bucks!"
Great job. Very touching 9/11 tribute. On a side note, funny how this movie was based on a 1913 play called Pygmalion and later a Three Stooges short called "Hoi- Polloi.
Thanks! I did not know that, appreciate the info.
@@NickP Ya when you have a minute, watch Hoi Polloi. It might be on YT. Curly has a famous line that probably wouldn't fly today. Keep up the great work. You do an amazing job.
@@user-sm2ql7nq4l will do lol.. thanks again!
I tell you what Nick. Top marks for this one brother. You’ve been travelling far and wide to get the shots it must’ve taken an age to make this video. Good effort
I really appreciate the bud! I hope to get so more up soon. Have some footage to sort through.
@@NickP good things take time to make bro. This couldn’t possibly be a one a day channel without compromising the quality.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas !
From Pakistan
Thanks a lot! Same to you!
Funny, nobody considers this movie a Christmas movie. 🎄🎁
Merry new year 😂😂
I do
One thing I would dispute is when Dan Aykroyd gets off the bus as the Drunk Santa he is getting off a Septa Bus which is the bus system in Philadelphia but you say he is standing at 223 Ave B, NY NY. I would suggest that he was actually standing at maybe 223 Market St in Philadelphia or perhaps that was some really good movie magic. I am from Philly so I know a Septa bus when I see it as I took many of them in my years of living in Philadelphia. Also that Building across the street from the Wells Fargo (Duke and Duke) building is the Union League of Philadelphia. I didn't hear you mention it in your video and well it is a pretty big deal in Philadelphia. I actually thought they filmed in there during the setup of Louis stealing that money but now I know it was in New York City so thanks for that info.
No, it is definitely the location in NYC, it was dressed to look like Philly. They filmed several scenes in NYC.
@@NickP After looking at it several times you are right about that when Louis is standing there with the dog. But before that they must have filmed him getting off that Septa bus then they cut to NYC at that location you mentioned in your video. Pretty slick movie magic. Yes I think most of the end in NYC. By the way the 911 Memorial was a nice part of your video. Sad day in the USA and especially in NYC.
@@joee5081 No worries, and yes, movie magic indeed! It’s awesome that you enjoyed the video, thanks a lot.
Amazing seen biutiful day
You should explore 3322 la Cienga place where the 1st season of the office was filmed
Most amazing. Great job. Thank you. But what about the trading pits? If Im not mistaken they were in New Jersey or Chicago ...
Many thanks!
I wasn’t able to confirm.
Nick i think you have to Crown 4 best filming location TH-camr! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wow, that’s an amazing compliment! Thanks a lot Mark!!
