Sorry you had a bad crash that included broken bones, yeowch! But I'm glad to see you creating videos again, I live vicariously through your adventures 🙂
“You don’t have to worry about getting run over, which is nice.” Classic Paul Suchecki understatement. That’s why we love you, brother. If you’re willing, maybe a video sometime about your accident and what we can do to avoid following precisely in your tire tracks. Keep on Truckin. Heading out on a short 225 mile loop tour to Crater, Klamath and Hiatt Lakes next week out of Medford. This 69 yo thanks you for the continuing inspiration. See you on down the road.
Sorry for the slow response. I've been out riding some rail trails. Thanks, I really appreciate it. I can't really give details right now, but I will as soon as I can. Kind of a public service thing. It feels good to be riding again. Sounds like you (had) a great ride. Thanks again for watching. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Wow, didn't know you were injured. Glad to hear you're recovering and able to get back on your bike. I love your videos and perspective, but I think this one's been my favorite so far. You got some great shots and really showcased your local trail. Thanks for sharing!
Just stumbled across your bike trail videos. Wonderful! I can't say enough good things about them. Well-crafted narration, simple and effective videography, excellent sound editing, fantastic video editing. Oh yeah, I really like the dry humor and deadpan delivery! I hope to see you on the Tunnel Hill Trail sometime.
I love your videos...im an old dude on a bike and your vids inspire...oh...the drone footage is so cool...i put on music and one of your vids on the screen... and im set🚴😀
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm sticking to rail-trails this summer. The Green Brier in WV and the Michelson in SD. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Paul, I crossed the Tunnel Hill Trail in early June 2024 when I thru-hike the River to River Trail. I hope to hike the R2R again in October. This video may convince my wife to come down to S. IL for a few days to drop me off. Perhaps we can go to Harrisburg and take the trail south and back. Then she can drop me off at E'Town for a nice hike in the Shawnee.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. There are some nice sections on the R2R trail. Part of the America Discovery trail. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
So good to see you riding and posting again. That sure is a nice trail and your videography is top notch as usual. I look forward to seeing the videos of your upcoming trips. Love your humor as always.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
I'm glad you are on the mend. I subscribed when I was laid up with a broken leg, and you were my escape and motivation to rehab. Hope the karma comes back to help you get back to where you were!
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Tunnel Hill is one of my favorite trails. It's a short 20 minute drive from my house. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Great to see you back Paul! I crashed last July (2022) as well. An unleashed dog came out from a fence and sent me over my handlebars. Broken/sprained ankle. The ankle is 90%, but i agree with you... I'm sticking to railtrail and gravel. Glad you're back riding! Happy Retirement! 🍻 Alex
I think so Chuck! A few of my friends were attacked by dogs as well, but luckily, didn't go off their bike like me! Glad we're both ok (and Paul and fellow cyclists!).
Thanks, I really appreciate it. It feels good to be riding again. Sticking to the rail-trails for now. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you are back. My husband had a bad crash and at 79 it took a bit of confidence away. We rode the rail trail from Vernon BC to Oyama BC and the trestle trail, and they are the way to go to get back riding again. Thanks, really enjoy your videos.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Rail-trails for me this summer, that's for sure. Greenbrier in WV and Michelson in SD. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
my first experience with a rail trail was in 2012, on the New River Trail in virginia. It was almost magical. My daugher was 12 back then and we were riding from North Carolina to Texas that summer. We found the trail almost by accident and what a marvelous find it was. I remember how happy she was to swim in the freeing summer waters and how nice a change it was after the hills of the Blue Ridge mountains. But a few days after we were off the trail, and into the steep mountains of Kentucky, my daughter did declare how nice it was to struggle with the hills again. I guess variety is the key?
Sorry for the slow response. I've been out riding some rail trails. We went to West Virginia in June and then out to South Dakota in July. New videos coming soon. The New River trail is on my list. Sounds awesome. Hills can be fun, especially the downhills. LOL! Thanks again for watching. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
That guy looked scary, so I kept going. LOL!! Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Paul, so glad you are back, on the bike, and working to a full recovery! As always, thank you for sharing. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down
Sorry for the slow response. I've been out riding some rail trails. It feels good to be riding again. New videos coming soon. Thanks again for watching. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Nicely done👍 Great narration. We have a potential trail/rail/train here where I live that has been in study and planning for 10years +. Still no trail. It has been held up by train advocates that the train needs to be included along with the bike path. Transportation board has had endless studies and resulting conclusions are the same. Train is not economically feasible. Yet, they hope to have another study that agrees with the train coexisting with the trail. Oh yes, my wife (nee James) as well as her family/siblings, early home was in Tunnel Hill. Other problematic issue is we live in California. That should partly explain why there has been little or no progress.🤣😂
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Your story makes me appreciate our Tunnel Hill Trail even more. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!😎
Always sucks to come off the bike. Glad to hear you’ve pretty much recovered and can do some riding again. You’re a big inspiration for my own bike tours and when I’m out on the bike and come across a situation you’ve covered I think of you and your videos. I’m tempted to try bike packing but so far I enjoy the creature comforts of a proper shower, bed and heating. Thanks the the videos mate!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!

It was so good to see your first post after your crash, not knowing how you ultimately fared. It’s even better to see you back riding. The joy you find in biking is so generously shared in your videos. Bike on!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. My left arm took the worst of it. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
your ridding a Surly bike witch one. You've inspired me with your video's I found a surly disk trucker I've been putting in 10-15 miles a day trying to get ready for a Katy trail ride next spring
Sorry for the slow response. I've been out riding some rail trails. It feels good to be riding again. I also have a Surly Disc Trucker. So far I have no complaints. It's not lightweight but it's an expedition bike. The Katy is a great trail. Have fun. Thanks again for watching. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. The southern tip of Illinois is very pretty. Most of the rest is corn field or big city (Chicago). Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Glad to find that the accident did nothing to deter your humor. So many good lines in this one, but I have to go with "If you happen to see a snake sunbathing on the trail don't freak out, don't pick it up, give it plenty of room and just keep on going." Also, now I know there is a bike trail in Southern Illinois that I need to ride. Go ride your bike buddy.
Welcome aboard. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! I ride the Tunnel Hill trail often. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!😎
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to be riding again. I'll be sticking to rail trails for a while. The Katy is one of my favorites. I just got back from the Michelson in SD. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Sorry it took so long to get back. You might try the Des Moines area. We spent a few days in the area last summer, and my wife and I enjoyed the many established bike trails while staying in an Air B&B. It is close to our home in Columbia MO, and would be great place to put together a longer bike trip.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. So far I only have some loose plans for this summer. I'm just waiting for the weather to improve and I hope to be riding somewhere. Hope to see you down the road. Stay safe and ride on!
Hi Paul - like everyone else,, I was surprised to learn that you'd had a bad accident that stopped you from riding for a while. I'm glad you're back at it. As many people have said, your videos are very informative - from your biology videos, I get the impression that you teach and your videos have the touch of a teacher who thinks of the important information to pass on and the best way to do it. Another aspect of your videos I enjoy is the quality. I do video work for a living and your videos are really good visual communication. And there's a final thing I really enjoy about your videos. I grew up in Chicago until going off to college. Like you, I live south of Chicago but far, far, far south - in North Florida. Listening to you is enjoyable because you remind me of my hometown. I hope you continue to make videos for a long time. Thanks!
Sorry for the slow response. I've been out riding some rail trails. Thanks, I really appreciate it. Chicago is great place to be from, but I'm glad I live in southern Illinois. Florida, even north Florida is too far south for me, sounds hot. Thanks again for watching. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
This made my day, thanks for the vid! I can see the Katy Trail from my house (near Peers Mo.) so I ride it a lot. Recently bought a 1974 Schwinn Le tour. I hope to see you out there.
Excellent work Paul. Btw, Karnak now has a Dollar General which is sure convenient. I've ridden that trail many many times and often we continue just a few miles further south down to the Ohio River and either stay at the Grand Chain Lodge or camp in the area.
Thanks for the tip! I didn't know about the Dollar General in Karnak. I'll have to check out the lodge at Grand Chain. Thanks for watching, I really apreciate it. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
This is probably my favorite video from you! It was tunnel hill that made me fall in love with cycling. Maybe I'll see you here one weekend. It was nice meeting you earlier in the year at Rim Rock. Glad to see you making videos, again, Paul!
Thanks again, Shawn. In the fall I might cover the lake Glendale bike paths. Maybe we could work together on that one. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
So glad to see another video from you, Paul! And glad you’re on the mend. Really missed seeing your videos and was hoping you were okay. My husband, daughter, and I did this trail this past spring and loooooved lunch at Ned’s Shed in Vienna. :)
I love Ned's! Great food. Best milk shakes anywhere. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Glad to see you back on the bike! A word of caution, after six decades of bike riding those ice cream cones and chocolate bars found me on three month a tour around New Zealand....Heart attack. Still touring, but now on a Cube Kathmandu EXC. electric assist. I should have been watching my diet a bit closer over the decades. Wishing you tail winds on your future tours.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Heart disease runs in my family. Time to start trimming back down. My February fat has lasted into July. LOL!! Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Glad you're feeling better. I know all too well that crashes are no fun. If you feel up to talking about lessons learned from that, we're all ears, but if not, I understand. Always draining to revisit whammies...
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. I can't really share details right now, but when I can I will. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!
I absolutely LOVE your videos Paul!! Sorry to hear about your crash, but thankful you have recovered!! I've learned so much again and am thrilled that you are making/ posting again!! I am with you on all points about rail trails! Hope some day you make it up to Ontario to sample some of ours. I have one out my back door that climbs up the Niagara Escarpment! The new bike looks great! I can't recommend fatter tires enough! They are actually faster on gravel and so comfortable without compromising speed! One suggestion: I find fenders are totally worth it! No spray/ mess on that fine gravel! Nothing worse than getting unnecessarily soaked! Ride on! Welcome back!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm definitely sticking to rail trails for now. Rode the Green Brier trail in WV and the Michelson in SD. New videos coming soon. I've tried fenders and didn't care for them. It might be worth a revisit. Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
We missed you, Paul! We wondered were you have been. So sorry about your accident - glad to see you back on your bike!!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
“As I get fatter so do my tires”
My chuckle for the day…so true.
So true! Thanks, I really appreciate it. Stay safe and ride on!!😁
"As I get fatter, my tires get fatter"...lol I feel this comment so much! Great video!
Unfortunately it so true. LOL! Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Stay safe and Ride on!

your ridding a Surly bike witch one.

The southern tip of Illinois is very pretty. Most of the rest is corn field or big city (Chicago). Thanks again. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!

What a cool bike trail!
Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!😎
Glad to find that the accident did nothing to deter your humor.
Nathan. Thanks buddy, I really appreciate it. Keepin' it real. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!😎
TrailRider Trunk Bag. Have one over 15 years. Good kit.

Total bummer about the accident, glad to see you back we also love rail trails. Just got back from the Katy trail !
Thanks, Paul. Glad to see you back in action.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!😎
Hi Paul - like everyone else,, I was surprised to learn that you'd had a bad accident that stopped you from riding for a while.
Welcome back. Missed ya. Thanks for the video. I'll be down there this fall.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!😎
Another great video!
Thanksfor watching, I really appreciate it. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Hey, Paul. Good to see you back in the saddle again.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you make a full recovery. And a great video BTW, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and ride on!!
This made my day, thanks for the vid! I can see the Katy Trail from my house (near Peers Mo.) so I ride it a lot. Recently bought a 1974 Schwinn Le tour. I hope to see you out there.
I love the Katy trail. It's one of my favorites. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Stay safe and ride on!!
man i really love that big surly frame
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. It's a pretty beefy frame. So far it's held up really well. Ride on!
I just started my cycling journey and I live right off this trail. I’m very excited to complete it within this month
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!😎
Welcome back Paul! Great to see you back on your bike. Keep pedalling!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Stay safe and ride on!!
thank god you are back paul !!! we were worried about you ! hope you fell better and "go out and ride your bike" !!
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
Glad to see you’re back and doing well. One of my favorite rides in Southern Illinois, too.
Mine too! Thanks, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Hope to see you on the trail. Stay safe and ride on!!
