      In many cases they speak English as they have to pass the English language test before they can get a visa, but in many countries you can just 'pay' to get the pass on the test....

      I mean, thanks to the internet learning languages is really quite easy and convenient.
      I realise that as a Brit, you may not have looked into learning languages at all, but hey; most people in the EU speak English.
      Getting your B1 level English As A Foreign Language should not take the average European person more than a year, assuming they did not learn any in school. Which most EU countries start teaching at quite a young age, and the majority of people enjoy original language films and series. Again, leading to learning various languages; English prime amongst them.
      I'm sure that my English skill could be nit-picked at if someone really felt like it, and in my defence it is my third language. :)

    These greedy care home owners need to start paying british carers a decent wage then they won’t have to look overseas for care workers. The care industry is in an appalling state of affairs. The prices some of these care homes charge is eye watering, but they can’t pay their staff a decent salary.

    • @MrReubenTishkoff
      @MrReubenTishkoff 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Why would they if they have a endless supply of migrants ready to do it for the price they want or even less? Companies don't have an incentive to hire with decent salaries, nor it seems a disincentive not to. There has to be a crackdown on companies that offer these jobs, enforce the workers rights laws and also curb migration. This has to be tackled from all angles at once in order to work.

    If they paid a decent wage they wouldn't have to recruit from abroad. The problem is GREED from care provider management and stupidity from the government who could easily apply minimum rates for staff based on qualifications and experience but who actually LOWER rates for workers who've come from abroad. Up to me I'd compulsorily purchase every care home and bar the present owners from ever tendering for any government contracts for life.

    • @Scapestoat

    The reason you don't have care workers now is the appalling way we have been treated since the 90's. I did the old SEN training and worked in hospitals until my son was born. Due to citizenship death syndrome I chose to leave for 18mths until I knew he was OK. I couldn't get back into hospital because you need return to practice training. Fair enough but overseas were given priority for the funding. 3 times I tried but in each case could not get in. I worked in care homes but when the new training for sends to upgrade ti the RGN hospital staff were funded but private sector had ti pay for themselves at just over £3000 per module. Git myself into a lot of debt. Now during covid get you know what or like your job. Finally the abysmal pay for care workers is why you can't get quality staff

      1) The powers that be want cheap labour, as do large swathes of the middle classes.
      2) At least some of them firmly believe in deliberate social change by 'adjusting' the population.
      3) Many politicians actually have no interest in policy at all. They want the ministerial salary and car, so let someone, anyone, else make the decisions.

    Pay people well to work in social care. Then you wont need for many immigrants. If 1000 are claiming to work for bogus firns it's wrong. I worked in the NHS i mentored foreign nurses. Believe me not many came up to the standard we expected. I mentored one recruited for emergency care. She shadowed me furiously writing everything down. At the end of the shift she burst our crying admitting she worked in patient transport. Not in an emergency ambulance. IE a taxi service to and from the hospital Totally nieve to emergency care. The NHS had paid for her and her family to come and house them. But she couldn't do the job she was recruited for. Absolutely shambolic . I bet this isnt an isolated story. British nurses can get jobs in most countries im not covinced the calibre of some under developed countries is the sane

    Seems a body of people that fill chairs and expect a salary and a pension for just turning up. Or of course now work from home in a converted room or garage in between the school run, shopping or doing the garden, which now has been going on for years., so more away of life than a job as such, so long as their computer works. Matters not what Government is in or out you still have the same people who assume they are unanswerable. Myself I can't remember anyone lately that speaks clear English, after waiting sometime to be connected to someone in a garage / spare room office. England needs a lot of clearing out of a lot of places / people as it is no wonder this country is now near finished.

      Their work ethic is completely different than that of their forebears in the 90s and early 2000s....I really like some of them as people, they are great to talk to and all but most of them are not cut out for care work unfortunately.@@shanghaichica
