Shunting Superpower! - The Class 60 Shunters at Eastleigh

Whilst browsing through my files for other bits, I came across footage taken in 2012 and 2013 of the time DB Schenker used Class 60's on shunting duties at Eastleigh. Official information wasn't really available, but from what I remember, members of the class that hadn't been selected for the full overhaul 'Super Sixty' program were used. These locos were I beleive high on engine hours but still had serviceable life in them.
Locos used during this time were all still in EWS livery, with 60039, 60045, 60049, 60065 & 60071 all seeing use as the resident shunter. The locos would be tripped down on the Scunthorpe to Eastleigh long welded rail train, which was still in the hands of DB Schenker at that time.
The use of the Class 60's was mainly due to the train weights being shunted beginning to be too much for the resident 08's and 09's. I certainly remember one of the 08's being hauled about dead with shifted cranks, caused by it trying to shift a heavy ballast train! On occasions, the 60's would escape and be used on on local trip workings to Marchwood MOD, Southampton Western Docks and the out and back Westbury engineers. Hard to believe this was over a decade ago now.
The footage in the video is presented 'as is', I tended to be a bit more point and shoot back then!

Cheers Scott! A point in time I wished I'd taken more video off, especially as I'd visit fairly often. Agreed, there's a certain charm to an overgrown yard!
