My favorite scene in this whole movie is the first confrontation. Because with a lot of Spielberg's films, I always have a favorite moment in every single one of them. And definitely my favorite moment in this movie is the first major confrontation between Dennis Weaver and the truck driver. Why is the truck so intent on ruining this guy's day? We're not given a reason, and that actually makes it a little more scary. It's also an example of Spielberg's excellent use of editing, as he uses that filmmaking tool to ramp up the suspense.
Well I guess in that sense it's sort of like the Patrick Stewart Christmas Carol. Because that's another movie that's well shot to the point where you almost forget that it's a made-for-TV movie. But that movie also feels like a feature film even though it was made for TV.
Or Psycho. Why is Norman Bates killing all of these random people? I don't know. Or The Dark Knight. Why is The Joker doing all of these terrible things? I don't know.
Loved the movie love this review. You are 100% right. Masterpiece.

I haven't seen Duel but I seen the Hulk episode with Duel stock footage.
Alex, one of these days, you oughta do a list of your top 10 favorite Steven Spielberg films.
I really would like to do that video and one for other directors
I always thought it was a metaphor, for what I'm not sure. Something psychological.
