This rehearsal is great but if you ever saw videos of his actual concerts, you wouldnt say this. You would see what could have been if Michael hadn't died so soon. Gone too soon

I love that introduction, the soft subtle vocals and slow melody it is my favourite version of this song. So beautiful. And those visuals of the guys on the scaffolding climbing down and up at the end is awesome, I don't know why I, but I've loved that silhouette sequence with the music.

He put 110% into every performance, and those of us unfortunate enough to have never seen him live got the opportunity to witness that with this movie. I mean the dude was 50 and he was frolicking around and having a blast. His voice was always on point, and so were his dance moves. We will never see this again.
I don't understand why everyone keeps saying that in the This Is It rehersals he sucked and wasn't dancing properly and shit. It's a "Rehersal" he never tried during rehersals, he was just practicing and testing that's it. One thing I will say, you're right about him not trying - especially when it comes to dancing. That shows in the Dangerous tour rehearsals. But his vocals in the rehearsals are much better than they are live, the reason I mention it is because This Is It had a lot of lipsyncing to it. This one is just the regular acapella, Billie Jean was the demo acapella, and WBSS was a 2009 studio recorded acapella. If only a handful of songs were actually sung live in a rehearsal then I think every song in the actual This Is It tour would have been lipsynced. Sad to think about

I mean he lip-synced a lot in history tour because of his health conditions. However he still was going to do a great job cause doing few spins at 50 can make you breathless and he was still doing smooth dance moves (not energetic like bad or dangerous tour but still). I mean people loved him so much that was the last time we were gonna see him on stage so people would have still not complained even if he just sat down and make a high tech show with just playback.
Man, best version ever. They worked very well in playing this song. All the instrumental lines were well crafted and sewn together. It's amazing to hear that. It's like receiving a blessing. Michael shining like a star. Beautiful voice and great dance. I'm sad that I didn't get a chance to watch this show live.
I dont know about you guys but I've always liked MJ when he sings like this in 0:44 Really wonderful voice...can be really soft and soothing and yet, explosive and hoarse when needed. Miss you MJ!

he was 50 years here, and he could still do flexible moves, like when he get down on his knees and "pulls" pulls himself forward, I'm 22 and as soon as I get know on my knees it gets uncomfy pretty quick, and the thing about him looking too thin.. FYI Michael has always been a thin person, he's one of those who doesn't gain weight
Insomnia I can agree with, because he stated that after doing live concert through the years messed up his sleep and it also gave him a adrenalin rush. He always loved eating, especially KFC, I really don't think he had eating problems, he stopped eating because he continuingly (spelled that wrong, sorry) over the years said, "they" might poision the food I'm eating.

Man, This performance would have been so amazing if he could do this live in front of the world :( although this was perfect and glad I got to see here either way.
What’s sad is that’s the energy he was planning to have the whole show in the actual concert. He always would give it only half his effort during rehearsals. He knew in his mind what he was really going to do when the real show came. The rehearsals were for the other dancers really. Just watch his rehearsal for the black or white live MTV anniversary performance in 1991.. his performance (where he’s wearing a red shirt) is soooo different and mellowed down from his energy and perfection in the actual live performance, it’s crazy.
I was 8 when he passed, and for 2 years leading up to his death I danced all day everyday to his music. When this movie came out, I literally cried from start to finish. I’m 22 now and, I still get emotional thinking about it..

He is the master. When I first saw this whole documentary this confirmed to me that MJ was the greatest entertainer in the world. I never saw a talent that had so much command of his talents and aware of the environment on how to utilize it to the fullest. He knew everyone's parts, details, and space and time of every song. What was so impressive how he kept saying let it simmer... MJ knew certain parts the crowd would go crazy and he just pause and wait for the seconds while the audience would go crazy.

People say he lost his rhythm. If you know anything about MJ, it's that he never really gave it 100% in rehearsals. He's done that his entire career. He could still do the things he did back in the 80s and 90s easily

I watched the doc the year after it was released and just felt robbed. There was nothing wrong with Michael - his voice was better than ever, he was dancing better than his 20 year-old back up dancers and just seemed to be finding his groove and he just suddenly died. I watched Moonwalker religiously when I was a kid and even went on a Michael Jackson binge in adulthood. He was like no other entertainer I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. It was not supposed to end like this.
Ugh, if only he would have gotten the chance to perform the full show live at least once and show the world that he has always been and will forever be the King of Pop! He always held back a lot during rehearsals for obvious reasons and despite that he already sounded and moved amazing! I have absolute confidence that This Is It was gonna be his best show. People who are in denial about Michael's health in late June 2009 pisses me off so much because they are contributing to the lie that is the moive "This Is It". It shocks me that so many long-time collaborators of Michael like Kenny, participated in the making of the film. Especially after hearing and reading his testimonies in both the Murray trial and the AEG law suit by Katherine Jackson. Michael Jackson was not well, and nobody did anything to care for his wellbeing. It has been widely confirmed that the only reason he is up there standing is because he was given ephedrin so he would be able to go to rehearsals. He was, according to various court testimonies, rambling, dissoriented, obsessive, shivering, incoherent, extremely thin, to the point where his costume designer Michael Bush told Make up artist Karen Faye that he could see Michaels heartbeat through his skin. Faye testified that his skin was as cold as ice and that she had to put a heater next to him and tuck him in blankets, this was mid june in LA inside the Staples centre with all the lighting etc. Everybody else there was in t-shirts. Michael was given so many benzodiazipines along with the propofol that its surprising he was even out of bed. That is why he was given ephedrine. This Is It is a complete fabrication and a lie to cover up the incredible mistreating of Michael Jackson. He was ill, he was very ill and he should have been taken care of by people who cared about him and not just about how much money he could make for them. Those who tried to speak up and help him was either threatended or thrown out. The whole story of the TII concerts and movie is nothing but a very sad and tragic one. Ultimately resulting in the premature death of a loving father, a wonderful human being and the loss of one of the greatest entertainer that ever lived.

I don't know the real story (I doubt anyone really knows anything for sure when it comes to MJ as there is so much controversial information and most of it is speculation) but from various bits and pieces I have got the impression that he was more or less forced into doing This Is It. Him being happy about being on stage again / doing a comeback was perhaps only his way to tell himself that it was OK and he can/has to do this. Michael knows how to push himself, he's done it all his life. To me he looked fragile and as if backed into a corner, or as if he had lost all joy in his life. Maybe this was the depression or the drugs. As I said, I don't know the truth, just what it felt like to me, even though he is doing an amazing job even in this state. I keep saying "is" instead of "was" :) Wherever he is now, he is in a much better place, free from broken heart, spirit, and body.
Actually he wasn't THAT ill, the only problems he had were minor problems in his lungs due to lupus, and his insomnia wich caused stress/pain/confusion. Other than that he was fine, the autopsy even revealed his heart was fine for a 50 years old.

What’s sad is that’s the energy he was planning to have the whole show in the actual concert. He always would give it only half his effort during rehearsals. He knew in his mind what he was really going to do when the real show came. The rehearsals were for the other dancers really. Just watch his rehearsal for the black or white live MTV anniversary performance in 1991.. his performance (where he’s wearing a red shirt) is soooo different and mellowed down from his energy and perfection in the actual live performance, it’s crazy.

But he is pure joy to watch. I was screaming like "Omg look at the little twirl, he grabbed her hand, omg he is so playful, omg his walk so sexy, omg omg omg" 😂 The whole performance was breath taking, and different, just the way a Michael Jackson show is expected to be. The way the back dancers came crawling down in the beginning and went up again to their positions at the end was marvellous concept. I MISS U MICHAEL. When I first saw this whole documentary this confirmed to me that MJ was the greatest entertainer in the world.
I never saw a talent that had so much command of his talents and aware of the environment on how to utilize it to the fullest.
He knew everyone's parts, details, and space and time of every song.
What was so impressive how he kept saying let it simmer... MJ knew certain parts the crowd would go crazy and he just pause and wait for the seconds while the audience would go crazy.
First single I ever bought. And I really looked forward to seeing him live one last time singing it. At least I still have this. MJ still singing & dancing EXACTLY the same as all those years back. RIP, KING x

I watched the doc the year after it was released and just felt robbed. There was nothing wrong with Michael - his voice was better than ever, he was dancing better than his 20 year-old back up dancers and just seemed to be finding his groove and he just suddenly died. I watched Moonwalker religiously when I was a kid and even went on a Michael Jackson binge in adulthood. He was like no other entertainer I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. It was not supposed to end like this.

He always held back a lot during rehearsals for obvious reasons and despite that he already sounded and moved amazing! I have absolute confidence that This Is It was gonna be his best show. People who are in denial about Michael's health in late June 2009 pisses me off so much because they are contributing to the lie that is the moive "This Is It". It shocks me that so many long-time collaborators of Michael like Kenny, participated in the making of the film. Especially after hearing and reading his testimonies in both the Murray trial and the AEG law suit by Katherine Jackson. Michael Jackson was not well, and nobody did anything to care for his wellbeing. It has been widely confirmed that the only reason he is up there standing is because he was given ephedrin so he would be able to go to rehearsals. He was, according to various court testimonies, rambling, dissoriented, obsessive, shivering, incoherent, extremely thin, to the point where his costume designer Michael Bush told Make up artist Karen Faye that he could see Michaels heartbeat through his skin. Faye testified that his skin was as cold as ice and that she had to put a heater next to him and tuck him in blankets, this was mid june in LA inside the Staples centre with all the lighting etc. Everybody else there was in t-shirts. Michael was given so many benzodiazipines along with the propofol that its surprising he was even out of bed. That is why he was given ephedrine. This Is It is a complete fabrication and a lie to cover up the incredible mistreating of Michael Jackson. He was ill, he was very ill and he should have been taken care of by people who cared about him and not just about how much money he could make for them. Those who tried to speak up and help him was either threatended or thrown out. The whole story of the TII concerts and movie is nothing but a very sad and tragic one. Ultimately resulting in the premature death of a loving father, a wonderful human being and the loss of one of the greatest entertainer that ever lived.

Michael Jackson was not I'll and didn't have any health problems at the time besides his insomnia. I don't know the real story (I doubt anyone really knows anything for sure when it comes to MJ as there is so much controversial information and most of it is speculation) but from various bits and pieces I have got the impression that he was more or less forced into doing This Is It. Him being happy about being on stage again / doing a comeback was perhaps only his way to tell himself that it was OK and he can/has to do this. Michael knows how to push himself, he's done it all his life. To me he looked fragile and as if backed into a corner, or as if he had lost all joy in his life. Maybe this was the depression or the drugs. As I said, I don't know the truth, just what it felt like to me, even though he is doing an amazing job even in this state. I keep saying "is" instead of "was" :)
Wherever he is now, he is in a much better place, free from broken heart, spirit, and body.
Actually he wasn't THAT ill, the only problems he had were minor problems in his lungs due to lupus, and his insomnia wich caused stress/pain/confusion. Other than that he was fine, the autopsy even revealed his heart was fine for a 50 years old.
