Excuse me mr. Genius why isn't there a lake above that Lake for catching sediment only make it a little obviously a lot smaller and make it so it catches a settlement before it goes into the lake the big lake pretty easy to figure that out in the be a lot cheaper in the long run right
Very informative video! They dredged Lake Anne when I was growing up (I lived on Inlet for a number of years) but I don't remember the equipment used or the process. Find anything unusual? Shopping carts were not unusual back when there was a Safeway at Lake Anne Plaza and a Giant at Tall Oaks. Do you ever sift through the dredged sediment for smaller items people might have lost or other things that could have ended up in the lake?
+Arielle Masters Thank you, Arielle! We know that they found some waterlogged patio furniture. We'll check with staff to see what else they might have found and get back to you.
I grew up in Reston in the 80s and went to daycare at Common Ground on Lake Anne. This is surreal. Weird, weird sense of nostalgia every (rare) time Reston comes up. So glad I got outta there... Virginia is truly a lame, god-forsaken state to live in.
nice video production...thanks for sharing
+Jeff Schreibman Thank you, Jeff. We're glad you liked it!
Very informative and interesting video. Where does the removed sediment go?
+Lynne Mulston Thank you for your comment, Lynne. The sediment was transported to Chantilly Crushed Stone's facility.

Because that's not how it works dip stick.
We own a 130 acre HOA lake, looking to do the same. How much per acre is reasonable. I heard $6k per acre per 1ft of depth.
The dredging operation I am at, it's $750/hr, on site dumping. 150 tons every 2-3 hours.

+Arielle Masters Not only did they find the furniture, they also pulled out 19 bikes!
Wow, that's a lot of bikes! I'm not missing any, but some could have been reported stolen.
+Arielle Masters Unfortunately none of the bikes were salvageable, they had been there for quite some time.
