  • Welcome to Jason Does Things!
A while back, CKG sent over their Stainless Steel Pro Scoop for me to try out and I feel like I've gotten enough use out of it at this point to give it an honest review.
There were a few points I forgot to mention in this video that should be mentioned.
First off, price point. If you're just starting out, the stainless steel Pro Scoop currently selling for about $115 for the scoop head (no shaft) is wayyyyy more affordable than the Titanium version, which currently goes for about $270 (head only).
Quick math, you could easily buy two stainless scoops for the cost of one titanium scoop.
Let's just be totally honest, the titanium definitely looks cooler and a little pro tip, if you're digging with the titanium scoop at night and you're hitting rocks, the titanium actually produces sparks, which just might be worth the steeper price point.
If you're ok with no sparks and a little extra weight, then you can snag this Stainless Steel Pro Scoop and it should last you a good long while!
Hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned for more videos to come, including more reviews.
    Until next time, Happy Hunting!

Get better soon Jason. I have the titanium one. No cracks yet, but I am not of the smaller holes. Once its wet its rather difficult to sift out dry sand. In the water it works much better.

Hey hope you get better soon good to see you once again. I like the review and thought it should be brought up that the jewelry catch in the bottom back part of the scoop is also beneficial when we, here in South Florida are I the water , the water allows for the sand to go thru it but in damp clumpy sand not so much saying all that I will need to give it a try to confirm this as a fact when I can confirm this I will try to get back to you as long as I remember to. Keep on swinging and remember to make it fun and Happy Hunting 👍🙂..

Very true. As long as there's water handy, the smaller holes are very useful.

Hey Jason hope you get better soon. I have the CKG titanium scoop, for the beach just sand its great. My go to scoop is an old Ukraine stainless scoop that bought years ago and wore it down to paper thin and then modified as per Tony Eisenhower with a hardened shovel tip welded on it and it works best in rocky areas or even harder dirt at the lake. I bought a Trex scoop years ago and its a tank as you said, as I get older I just can't use it anymore and resides in the storage unit waiting for a new home.

That old modified scoop sounds cool! Yea that T-Rex is indestructible but so hard on my shoulders!

Feel better Jason, I have the CKG with the holes, I have used it twice (I don't live near the beaches) and like it so far.

Thanks Bill! Glad to hear you're enjoying your scoop. Curious, do you use the scoop at lakes and volleyball courts? Just wondering if you've got no beaches nearby.

I haven't tried it at the lake beaches yet or volleyball courts. In urban areas of Idaho people are pretty sensitive to someone carrying a shovel or scoop because there are a lot of digging regulations. I use a small hand trowel in the volleyball courts. I plan on trying it out in some of the rural swimming areas this summer. I bought it for our trip to Texas beaches In January. There is no way I could have found much without it because most targets were 6-12 inches deep. My wife and I found 3 rings, 3 Earings, a big silver necklace with a 2" Jesus pendant and $12 in clad coins.@@jasondoesthings

I think the CKG wit the small slots would best be suited in the water. Or in the very dry. I have the CKG with all the larger holes and still try to get the target with the least amount of sand. Great product though for sure. Also is is a scope not a shovel. Cant expect it to last if it is treated as a shovel. Great review, Hope you feel better. 💯💯

Yep good point. And I've used this scoop as nearly every tool in the shed including as a shovel 😃

I put a belt on my purple Snuggie and walk around looking like a monk. Seriously, get well soon & go out and use those scoops. Mine's a CKG 6x9, good but a little small...

Haha! The wisdoms of the Snuggie Monk 😁
How do you like using a narrower scoop?

@@jasondoesthings - My (6.25" wide & 9" deep) CKG feels small. On Monday I ran into MMM in Monterey. His Gold Pull Tab (316?) scoop is huge! MY entire scoop fit right into it! It looked super-strong. But its opening is straight in-line (flat plane) w/the pole. No angle = no leverage w/foot. Will wait for CKG's Black Friday 30%-off sale to order their (8 x 11) scoop - currently sold out.
