    Mistakes do not matter, or matter even MORE than a perfect-note performance. Colin Marston extols the power of emotional playing, over perfect playing. this is a GREAT example, especially when one recognizes that all members tasted of a 'peace pipe' before this performance, and it still carried more power than every other band at this festival. see Mick Barr's solo at 19:49. the entire crowd DIED to hear these notes, an event that happened ONCE in a lifetime. I was there, and the retention was INCREDIBLE. more than any recording could capture.

    0:00 Etemenanki
    8:18 Kronus Deposed
    15:22 Loum
    22:50 sounds like a new song to me? - 1/9/2019 update, the song is Church from their Wolf EP
    26:35 This Forest For Which We Have Killed

      @22:50 definitely new song.

      Ok, that's what I thought, either that or I was going crazy. Almost sounds as if it could be a b-side to Loum.

      yup. lack of vokills is another indicator. they introduced new tracks live numerous times in the past, sometimes these iterations would differ quite alot to what they eventually recorded, like the intro to "transformation chronicles".

      Turns out the song was Church from their just-released-today Wolf EP @@cerealito

      True, I remember seeing them play all of Prelapsarian (also the first time I've seen them play live) and was like "waaaat is this". The new song in the video above is Church from their Wolf EP. @@jaderpansen5838

    Loved the sound on “This forest for which we have killed”. Better than studio version, because bass is much louder, which creates very melancholic feeling on long tension and release.

    The end of Kronus Deposed--it's one thing to hear that recorded and think that maybe they used some studio tricks to make all those sounds. Then you see them perform it live. Damn.

    At 30:50, you can see the drummer Lev Weinstein getting his cowboy hat back on his head. It is well known that drummers perform 69% better with a cowboy hat on.

      @Musica Masonica Dimensional Bleedthrough is "square"???? Are you on mushrooms!?

    • @kellymoon3406
      @kellymoon3406 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Musica Masonica That somehow makes no sense but I know what you are talking about. I kind of like the square sound then, Diotima was the ultimate square record and then YPM kinda went more into the more Gorguts/atonal direction they've been on lately. I love their early stuff way more personally, but I still can marvel at their non-pretentious musicianship.

    • @Randinator
      @Randinator 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m the opposite. I worship the long winding compositions from the first four albums. Dimensional Bleedthrough is one of my all time favorite albums. Mass Cathexis harkened back to the old style a bit and there have been remnants of the old style in other songs too (Lotus Throne). I’m always blown away by how they don’t play with metronomes too. Incredible musical chemistry with Krallice.
