I miss the short nose on the f56. It kinda looks like a fish to me in some trim levels. In r50 you can see a British bulldog face. In f56 I see a fish! When the newest version showed up, they clearly stated that the nose was redesigned to look shorter thus removing the fish face.
The white rings are OEM. It’s part of the JCW Anniversary Edition. Yes I modified a special edition. lol. It’s only one of 75 in the US I’ve been told. Not sure how many of them are manual but all 5 of the ones that came to Baron MINI where I bought mine were stick shift.
Here's a video idea. You should a comparison of every MINI generation so far (when the F65 - U25 models come out, that is). R50/R53 vs R56 vs F55/F56 vs F65/F66 R52 vs R57 vs F57 vs F67 R60 vs F60 vs U25 Obviously, it would have to be a three parter.
@2:05 mate, that's just WRONG: R50 gen and also R56 gen have 4-holes wheels PCD 4x100 (so wheels are interchangeable between I. and II. gen), while F56 have 5-holes PCD 5x112 and these are not interchangeable unless you're going to replace wheel bearings, brakes and the rest (also tire size got bigger, just check the numbers beyond wheel size in inches) FYI my family owns R50 Cooper and F54 Clubman Cooper S and I am responsible for maintenance of both vehicles :) @3:08 mirror caps were actually changed with LCI-1 on MY-2019 (available mid-year 2018 onwards)
I never said the F56 wheels are interchangeable. I said the wheel and tire sizes have been the same since day one. Those sizes haven’t changed but I know the old ones are 4x100 and the new ones are 5x112. Tire size for R53 with the S-Lites was 205/45-17. Tire size for an F56 with 17” wheels is 205/45-17. Tire sizes have not changed. If the mirrors changed in 2018 with LCI1, then why do my friends who have 2019 JCW’s have the pre-LCI mirror caps? Caps didn’t change until 2020 model year as I recall.
I wouldn’t say the F56 is less design elements. If anything, it’s over designed and over engineered. The R50 does have a simplicity to it. All the more reason I think they simplified the styling on the F66 new car. They wanted a return to some of that minimalist aesthetic.
Two beauties. I am totally in love with that R50. ❤ (proud owner of two R53s) 😊
Thanks for this comparison!
Let's have the same for country- and club-man
I love the older models, especially my R56 ^^
That’s not a bad idea. Soon as I can get the access to those, I will.
I love my r50
❤R50🎉

I don’t really see the fish you speak of. I still see the bulldog.
Both beautiful!
I’ll take the F56.
But love them both.
R50 is forever beautiful (driving F56)
It’s a pretty car for sure.
I like your F 56 " Design Decal " Look. + The white headlamprings . Very RACE-Y... NICE composed

this R50 is really beautiful❤ I owned 13 of those, but never had the chance to get a BRG

Interesting.
I've had a 1st gen. I'm trading into a 2nd gen. I have no interest in a 3rd gen.
Excellent video.

Can I use a r53 engine rebuild kit on a r50 engine?
I’m not sure. I don’t think so since the R53 uses a W11 while the R50 uses the W10
Just got a 24 F55, how do you black out the belt line?
They sell a kit that replaces the belt line. Or what I did, vinyl wrap.
R50 platform youthful quality. F56 platform middleweight girth with less design elements definition.
