Met Stephen a couple times from Around the Fur era to recently when I saw him at a dispensary promoting the Deftones herb. He signed every album copy I had CD, Vinyl did not bat an eye, he did it whole heartedly. Then had a conversation with me about having a new bass player that played with Manson and already having the material recorded and waiting for Chino to record vocals. All this during the time that they announced Sergio was gone. Awesome dude send him his flowers!!! Just a story for you deftoners out there 🤘🏻
I've seen Deftones in small clubs and big stadiums and the clubs in the early days will always be core memories, but seeing Deftones & Incubus at Red Rocks was something really special.
The fathers of 7 strings in metal are Morbid Angel (since Covenant) and Carcass (since Necroticism); they used 7 strings years before Korn and Meshuggah.
@@Tool-Deftonesfan101, reread my comment. Vai pioneered the 7-string and played rock. The first bands to use 7 strings before Korn and Meshuggah are the ones I mentioned.
Steph should HIGHKEY be a bass player... No disrespect to the man, and I am glad he is pushing heavier tonality in the 'Tones but as a musician in the prog+ sphere, come on now....
ohms, this link is dead, pompeji, ceremony, all have great riffs just from the most recent record. Maybe less than the first couple records but that's being incredibly reductive.
Dear Steph and Fishman music, the chugchugchug video was gold, please don't be afraid to release it again
Bring back chugchugchug video 🥺

What about Steve Vai? He created the Ibanez Universe guitar.

They did it before? Of course, but who made it popular? Korn and Meshuggah!
@@Malum09 Nope, Morbid Angel and Carcass.

I have to say, Stephen is truly missed whenever he is not performing with Deftones. It's just not the same. You just gotta love this guy. 💙

What's Stephen Carpenters Side Project? It's us...
After the last video I'm not sure this guy even knows how to play the guitar.

Watch ur mouth boy
We got some evidence…
He doesn't, and he acknowledges that. That's the beauty of it
@@thatdeftkid3116i mean he very clearly does, theres 9 albums to prove it. just cause he cant shred doesn't mean he's any less of a guitarist 😂

Hold up.. Steph said, "like yeah I wrote these songs, but like, honestly, like, I do not have a favorite, it is the fans'"

Why has Steph regressed as a player? Why doesn’t he play riffs anymore. He just does simple power chords and chugs
We let him loose on our new EP…
