It's hilarious listening to people criticize his music claiming to hear dissonance or such nonsense. If you understood music or could play at all, you'd understand how good this is - not just his play but the arrangement as well. This fingerstyle is so far ahead of just strumming chords on a guitar and he executes masterfully.
@@ryaningham5374 No, he's right. Being smart has nothing to do with it. If you play guitar, then you know how advanced this is, and that the only people complaining don't understand because they don't play. I've tried something like this once, its not easy
Besides, the clim that anything is dissonant is ridiculous. There is NOTHING dissonant in here. People who say such thing need to attend a couple of music theory classes.
It’s not just his technique. The arrangement is masterful too. He gets SO much done with relatively low intensity fingering. He’s planning on playing for a long, long time.
Thank you for posting this. The beauty of Sungha's music brings me to tears. Tears of happiness, and bittersweet memories. This was one of my Mom's favorite songs by her favorite artist John Denver. She passed away in 2006. Thank you for the memories.
That's about as good as it's ever going to be played...Fine job my young friend. Best wishes from the hills of Almost Heaven, West Virginia....keep on pickin'..
mountnmonkey... Almost Heaven is a a name of a place??? Oh wow... Now I get it... I thought it was something different... Greetings from "almost heaven"... Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia...
JG this is actually one of his easier songs to play. The thing is, with enough practice and motivation, anyone can play his songs. I can play most of his songs on guitar pretty well. The more impressive thing about sungha jung is how he's able to arrange these songs this well. That takes way more skill than actually being able to play it and that's why he's so much better than me.
I can play most of my favorite songs just like the original recording. But even as a advanced guitar player, there is NO Way I can play this song! I don't think anyone can play this song but Sung Ha. How he came up with this arrangement is also very impressive!
Its called Travis picking :) Check out Tommy Emmanuel if you havent already Him and Chet Atkins made Travis picking polular, its all about constantly between the bass linr withyour thumb while you play the melody with the rest of your fingers
I haven't heard this song in forever; you brought tears to my eyes. The talent that exudes from your finger tips is insurmountable. I can vaguely hear John Denver singing along in the distance. Thank you for brightening my day. Much obliged. 13 August 2019. Auckland, New Zealand.
Once again I am very pleased by Sungha's work. Especially when it comes to the song that's dedicated to my home state of West Virginia, The places mentioned in the song, the Shenandoah, and Blue Ridge mountain, these places were amazing to me, almost like a theme park or a live Football game. We only talked about them when we were trying to have a fun weekend with the family. And as for the moonshine, well, it'll definitely put a few teardrops in your eyes.
I HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS SONG PLAYED SO THOROUGHLY OR SO MASTERFULLY!!!!!!!!! There aren't words to describe. To call it beyond beautiful would be an understatement.
Superbe interprétation, fan d'une heure, fan d'un jour, fan toujours. Merci pour tous ces moments de bonheur musicale. Tu es à mes yeux le plus grand guitariste au monde.
Take me home, country roads Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue ridge mountain, Shenandoah river, Life is old there, older than the trees, Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze Country roads, take me home To the place I belong, West Virginia, Mountain mamma, take me home Country roads All my memories, gather round her Modest lady, stranger to blue water Dark and dusty, painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye Country roads, take me home To the place I belong, West Virginia, Mountain mamma, take me home To the country roads I hear her voice in the morning hour she calls me Radio reminds me of my home far away Driving down the road I get a feeling That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday Country roads, take me home To the place I belong, West virginia, Mountain mamma, take me home Country roads Country roads, take me home To the place I belong, West Virginia, Mountain mamma, take me home To the country roads Take me home, that country road Take me home, that country road
I believe, the country roads were the ones taking him home. He wasn't going to the country roads. Also, there might be a few modest ladies in West Virginia, but I believe he was refering to the State being a mining State, hence, "miner's lady"
That is exactly what comes to my mind when i hear him playing....thank you for bringing up the nice souvenir and wonderful feelings of this film...You must be a fan of japanese film like myself...
I am a very good guitar player, better than most people, but I can never be as good as this guy!! This version is INSANELY difficult to play. He may be the only person in the world who can play this song in this style. Sounds too good to be real!
If you ever get a chance to stitch together his greatest hits and play it on a summer weekend it becomes an unbelievably cool evening!!!! Thank you for all your effort and uploads. Wish you the very BEST.
blake norton if you search sungha jung and then add whatever song hes playing, there are tabs by him, just slick to songsterr tabs and you can even play along. i havent ran into a song that wasnt tabbed yet. Trust me, i live to play his music , hes incredible.
Beautiful..john denver would be so proud
🏕
acually its not just john denver 2 others were part of it . john was the last guy.
Linda Johnson . Ya. For sure!
John Denver wrote the bridge section of the song. He'd never been to West Virginia when he recorded the song.

Paogou Hangshing 😂 true true
Am sure John was smiling down on him, when he was playing this. Nice rendition-brought back some good memories
His tone and effortless playing is amazing. The arrangement makes it sound like a whole band is playing.
That's what fingerstyle is all about, one man band. Melody, chords, bass, and even percussion.
If John were still with us I am sure he would love to play with Sungha!
sporty04 yes he would!
sporty04 No doubt
Sorry I didn’t like your comment cause it was already at 69
I watch a lot of fingerstyle guitarists but sungha is the most naturally gifted I have seen. He’s on another tier...
True musician lot of diversity in his song selections pop, country, rock, soul....etc. And he does it so well
love that muted bass line all the way through! an absolute joy to listen to my friend, well done, beautifully arranged and executed!
dan,uk.
Amazing! Love from WEST VIRGINIA! Country roads, take me home!
I think only people who play guitar can understand how insane this is to play
James Gardiner - most definitely. That was my point below. After I read a few comments about this being over complicated or such garbage.
is easy
Its pretty hard to play like sungha. He's using fingerstyle
That's insane, but not for an asian guy

A++ Love your rendition. Timing impeccable. Wonderful bass line.

It's clear that anyone who have you thumbs down has never played a guitar in their life. You are so full of talent I would like to have 5% of it .

Sorry but this is quite an easy CBS simple arrangement. Are you sure you're "advanced"?

johnny cash isnt country music ...
Johnny Cash country?? hahaha
Michael Helmans exactly
johnny cash is in the rock and roll and country hall of fame... so yes country but he blurs the lines between genres
Johnny cash is a pioneer of country music
A day with Sungha Jung .....completes my day!
One of the best and a great tribute to John
Even keeps the bass accompaniment up while doing the melody. First rate.
"fingerstyle"
