Great video. All designer items are overpriced. When I first started looking at the Chanel jumbo in 2017, it was $5500 USD. In 2021, it jumped to $9500. No way it’s worth $4k more.
No. Most high end designer brands are overpriced. Contemporary designer brands have upped their game when it comes to quality and materials while for a few high end brands they have plummeted. LV and Chanel are the most overpriced brands IMO - their cratsmanship has lost a lot during the last 15 years, the materials are lower quality as they used to be and there are defects in so many items. You should not have to look for defects on a 9 000€ bag but with the current situation that's just something you do when you receive an item from Chanel. I love contemporary brands, esp. Coach and Furla. They are so much more worth the money!
And the fendi peekaboo 🤔 I dont know why its so overpriced, its like 5000$. For me any overpriced bag is a bag that is not in leather. Fabric, denim, canvas and even PVC for thousands of dollars!!! Thats insane 🙊 Amazing video i definitely agree with you on the Chanel CF 😩❤️
What with the classic flap being so ubiquitous, it’s 100% not worth it buying compared to a birkin because it cannot even lend the status it wants to give off. Great video btw!
The mini pochette accessoires used to be so worth it!! I got it for $310 USD in 2019 directly from LV and it’s almost $800 now! I could not believe it. So sad because I was looking at getting a 2nd one in a different print but definitely not worth it anymore 😢

Agreed. I saw a video where a leather expert broke down how much the $1200 Chanel wallet actually costs in terms of materials. My jaw hit the floor. The markup is crazy.
You have to remember that included in the price is the cost of marketing and the cost of the weight of the luxury name behind the item. Its funny to think but if these bags were all 19.99 at Marshalls no one would be going crazy for them like we do now. The insane price is part of the emotional value
I use my Pochette accessoire as my dog walking pouch. Stuck a strap on it and carry poo bags in it. Makes me feel good whilst I’m bumbling about in brambles with the doggie 😂😂. Got it before the last silly price increase, wouldn’t buy it at current price knowing how much money increase was. It was just rude. X
Personally, I bought a jumbo classic flap from the boutique in 2/2022 for $9500 USD. I have a medium classic flap & a 2.55 reissue 224 from 2011 &2013. Quality wise, it is not worth it. I have more wear and issues on my 2022 bag than I do on my 10+ year old classic flaps! I loveeeee the classic flap & have always. I always wanted to add a jumbo and a mini square (which I still want). I can compare quality! Although I love the bag, it’s not currently worth it based on current quality
I was waiting for the Dior tote , right at the end .I purchased a very good dupe , thought I would test run it first to see if I would use it .I have two other real Dior bags in the same pattern and you can’t tell the difference .Conclusion , for what I use it for, it gets taken to the beach , thrown in the back of the car , abused whilst travelling , has made me decide not to buy an original for the money , I couldn’t treat it in this way .
I cannot get over the prices of the LV pochettes, both the mini and the Pochette accessories. If I didn’t already have them I would never buy them at their current prices. I thought they were expensive when I bought them a few years ago, silly me 😂😂. Prices from all these luxury houses are just crazy.
I definitely agree with you about the Louis Vuitton pochettes. They are beyond overpriced. I remember back in the early 2000s I paid $165 for my PA. I considered the mini pochette a few years ago but they were hard to get. Once the price increases happened, I became uninterested. IMO, they aren't worth the current price.
I couldn’t agree more! I bought them brand new for a fraction of the price years ago… should have bought 2 of each lol as back ups. The new prices are a joke… love the pochettes but they are NOT worth these prices.
I have chanel a black in caviar woc for like 9 years. I wear every single day, to a grocery store, to a dinner, traveling. I would buy over and over again.

I can’t believe how much the mini pochette costs now. I love mine and I got mine back in 2014 for £165. I wouldn’t pay £500 for it. It’s crazy. £500 I can get myself a nice wallet. The Chanel classic flap price increases are insane, I’m so glad I got mine last year. I do think they are over priced now.
I purchased a Mini Pochette Accessories in April 2018 as my first direct from LV item….it was £195… 🤯 I use it all the time so for me was definitely worth the money but £515 is just crazy. I do notice that coinciding with that hefty price increase, they do seem to be much more frequently available online! 🙄
I agree with your opinion on all of these bags. Honestly, the price on most designer brand bags has gotten insane. However, I am somehow less hesitant 2 make a purchase on an over priced handbag from LV and Chanel than other designer brands because I know that if I don’t like it or it doesn’t end up working for me, I am much more likely to get most of my money back. I do love Prada, but the bags I own, Ive either bought them on sale or at their outlet. I looove your vintage Chanel flap! 😍
Great video. Bought an old medium Boy bag in March 22 for 5400€. 5 months later it retails at 5900€…. I thought many times about reselling my Boy to get a mini, but everybody says the classic flap is less practical than the Boy + quality issues. My Boy in caviar leather holds very well though. Glad I got the Boy which will soon get back in trend at a very high price point
Great discussion abt these bags.I know the Dior tote prices are ridiculous but I really enjoy mine and use it quite a bit,I have three because of the usefulness in car travel,one on each side behind seats,reach back get a snak have hand cleaner,tissues,makeup,medicine in other,easily holds enough for an over night stay.I've really enjoyed them,hokding up great. In the 60`s the Chanel classic caviar leather bag costs 450 Deutsche Mark. My grand-aunt always wears chanel and dior. A woman in normal stores got monthly for work about 270 Deutsche Mark during this times.
I bought into the hype and purchased the LV multi pouchette for 2700$ USD after tax and regret it ever since. It looks cheap and there are so many fakes it’s not worth it to me anymore and I agree with what you said that for that price I could have just gotten a bigger bag. Anyways looking into selling it now
All bags are now overpriced. But I think the classic chanel flap will always be timeless and it's the only one worth having (except the kelly and the birkin). At this price it is reserved for an elite, too bad I wanted one in a pop color. Have a nice day :)
I kid you not...I purchased the mini pochette accessories damier ebene in 2017 for $395. The overpriced bag that I would buy again is the Dior Book Tote. I have it in a seasonal paisley print in the medium size and I love it so much that my name is on it!😄 There are tons of great alternatives, but I'd still choose Dior's.🤷🏾♀️
I absolutely agree! I do think that it is a bit overpriced, but it’s all hand embroidered and one takes about 36hours to make! I think that’s amazing. I bought the book tote in large first and I loved it so much I recently but it in medium in the burgundy red color!
Sorry, I have both the mini pochette and the Chanel mini o case, and no, the latter cannot replace the former. The width of the o case makes it more appropriate for very thin items, which is why it makes more sense to use it as a wallet than a pouch. The mini pochette can hold a lot, lot more than the o case - their purposes are vastly different, in my opinion.

I hated my Metis so much! There are too may issues - glazing on top handles, glazing on the flap getting scratach from the hardware of the strap, the buckle closure.. it's not for me. Sold it after a few months.
yes on all of these!!! I am holding on to my "old" Chanels for the sole reason that I would never be able to buy them again, considering how the prices are exploding. The WOC is my absolute favorite. Perfect for a night out and fits what I need. BUT I would never consider buying one now from the store. Just no. I got such a good deal on a black one not even 2 years ago. 1600 Swiss Francs for a Chevron, goat leather (suuuper durable and fuss free) with light gold HW. I love it. And at the beginning of this year I got a limited WOC in teal color with emaille CC logo and matte gold HW for 2000 Swiss Francs. That one stung a bit, but the color combo was too amazing to let it go. How can Chanel justify a price of 3100 Swiss Francs for this??? They have gone insane.

I bought a Chanel wallet on chain, and sold it soon after. The chain was inconveniently long, and it was too small to be functional. The lambskin was too fragile, and it didn’t have a magnet to close so it was difficult. I also had to buy a base shaper. With that purse, I felt like I had to inconvenience myself rather than have the luxury item function for me.
Fair video imo. At my local Lv and Gucci the barriers are down, there’s no apt line and there’s 2-3 SA chatting by the door so few customers. Sad tbh maybe the prices have been a bit much for many of us.
I see so many fakes with the Dior book tote and it ruined it for me. I do see a lot of dupes of the Bottega Veneta but you can usually tell that they are not the real thing.

Hi - Have you seen the LV OnMYSide pm tote? If so do you think it is over priced at $4050 US??? I really like this bag and really considering it. It does have everything I like in a bag - pebbled black leather, top handles, adjustable shoulder strap, can be worn cross-body, turn lock closure, magnetic large side pockets, metal feet on the bottom. I had a BB Capucine but sold it as it was a little to dressy for everyday. This one has monogram sides and more of a tote so would be great for everyday - but the Price?????

Just as I was thinking of getting my first Chanel bag, and it took me some courage to even consider spending such money for it, all this negativity has come out about it. I’m sure the quality has gone down somewhat because of the demand, but… not sure I’d want a second hand. I think, perhaps, I will divert my focus on diamonds, as the price of it is going down.

Great idea! Bought a dupe or maybe not dupe but a Tory Burch version of one of the bags I wanted and well decided I don’t like the style or size at all but saved a lot of money not buying the LV version.
The Fendi first bag: I have got one now (small size in the tan colour). It scuffs all the time and the leather is so soft. It fell down once and the leather covering the metal part has slightly torn. Its not worth the money at all! I have LV ones like the emperinte pochette metis that is virtually indestructible and looks nearly new after 3 years of regular use!

Yea the LV MPA is cheap looking IMO and felt cheap. I used mine a few times and sold it after about a year (didn’t use it much) Glad I sold it when I did! Didn’t get my money back but almost! 🎉
For me the YSL Rive Gauche bag is overpriced. For the look it”s almost just the same as Marc Jacobs tote bags at $295. Or you can get Tory Burch simple tote. I mean if you’re looking for “simple” why pay £1300. Dior maybe more expensive but when you put them side by side with your YSL Rive it also shows how expensive looking it is.

Chanel CF is expensive, but it’s so pretty. If you love it and can afford to buy it, then just buy it. It’s better to buy that then some other bags that you don’t love and goes out of style in a couple of years. Hermes Birken is just as expensive, so it’s as overpriced too. People just think it’s not as overpriced as Chanel CF because it’s been overpriced for a longer period of time and is hard to actually buy one.
I would love a Chanel bag but so expensive. I bought a beautiful Fendi bag brand new on auction. I own quite a few designer bags but only three are brand new the others pre loved from EBay but in great condition.
Vintage Chanel classic flap bags are better, just make sure the condition is well-cared for, i’d suggest checking it yourself before buying & ofc autheticate them.

Who cares how much is the bags you carry. It only make you look stupid. They are all same, no style. I have a couple lv but I only get compliments when wearing a cheap Ralph Lauren. I have also very old coach bags for over 20 years that I washed them in the washer machine . They are like New and people came up to ask me what it is ad there is no Logo back those years. Can you wash a LV, a Chanel or a hermes???? But coach and Dooney bourke, Yes! And they are real sturdy leather. If taking good care of them, even neglect them, they last forever and in good shape for decades. An example, the coach cassie looks exactly the same as the pochette metis louis vuitton, except one is all leather I got 150 new at the boutique and one is canvas with lots of issues price almost 3k. And the Cassie looks ways better than the louis vuitton metis pochette, elegant but sturdy and Care free
Hi Steph, I got my mini pochette for £195 in 2019 it was impossible to get at the time I’ve never actually had a use for it so I would never pay the price it is now. Love the Ysl coin card holder. I was interested in the Chanel mini flap but need to travel at least 3 hours to purchase one and the price has gone up again considering another brand but unsure what one

All luxury bags are overpriced IMO. But, there are some that retain their value better than others that take the sting out of the priceyness.
yes on all of these!!! I am holding on to my "old" Chanels for the sole reason that I would never be able to buy them again, considering how the prices are exploding. The WOC is my absolute favorite. Perfect for a night out and fits what I need. BUT I would never consider buying one now from the store. Just no. I got such a good deal on a black one not even 2 years ago. 1600 Swiss Francs for a Chevron, goat leather (suuuper durable and fuss free) with light gold HW. I love it. And at the beginning of this year I got a limited WOC in teal color with emaille CC logo and matte gold HW for 2000 Swiss Francs. That one stung a bit, but the color combo was too amazing to let it go. How can Chanel justify a price of 3100 Swiss Francs for this??? They have gone insane.
I agree especially with the Dior book tote bag. It's definitely not worth that price for a canvas tote!!

I bought a Chanel wallet on chain, and sold it soon after. The chain was inconveniently long, and it was too small to be functional. The lambskin was too fragile, and it didn’t have a magnet to close so it was difficult. I also had to buy a base shaper. With that purse, I felt like I had to inconvenience myself rather than have the luxury item function for me.
Fair video imo. At my local Lv and Gucci the barriers are down, there’s no apt line and there’s 2-3 SA chatting by the door so few customers. Sad tbh maybe the prices have been a bit much for many of us.
I see so many fakes with the Dior book tote and it ruined it for me. I do see a lot of dupes of the Bottega Veneta but you can usually tell that they are not the real thing.

Hi - Have you seen the LV OnMYSide pm tote? If so do you think it is over priced at $4050 US??? I really like this bag and really considering it. It does have everything I like in a bag - pebbled black leather, top handles, adjustable shoulder strap, can be worn cross-body, turn lock closure, magnetic large side pockets, metal feet on the bottom. I had a BB Capucine but sold it as it was a little to dressy for everyday. This one has monogram sides and more of a tote so would be great for everyday - but the Price?????

I know! It’s definitely gone up a fair bit. My crystal was £2000 with a 10% discount it’s now £2600 and I only got that a few months ago

That was my last bag. After the Chanel flap bag. I haven’t gotten anymore. I love my Chanel but after the price increase I haven’t gotten any more. I got scammed on eBay. Love all my Lv bags I just got the Diane ❤

Just as I was thinking of getting my first Chanel bag, and it took me some courage to even consider spending such money for it, all this negativity has come out about it. I’m sure the quality has gone down somewhat because of the demand, but… not sure I’d want a second hand. I think, perhaps, I will divert my focus on diamonds, as the price of it is going down.

The Fendi first bag: I have got one now (small size in the tan colour). It scuffs all the time and the leather is so soft. It fell down once and the leather covering the metal part has slightly torn. Its not worth the money at all! I have LV ones like the emperinte pochette metis that is virtually indestructible and looks nearly new after 3 years of regular use!

Yea the LV MPA is cheap looking IMO and felt cheap. I used mine a few times and sold it after about a year (didn’t use it much)

For me the YSL Rive Gauche bag is overpriced. For the look it”s almost just the same as Marc Jacobs tote bags at $295. Or you can get Tory Burch simple tote. I mean if you’re looking for “simple” why pay £1300. Dior maybe more expensive but when you put them side by side with your YSL Rive it also shows how expensive looking it is.

Chanel CF is expensive, but it’s so pretty. If you love it and can afford to buy it, then just buy it. It’s better to buy that then some other bags that you don’t love and goes out of style in a couple of years. Hermes Birken is just as expensive, so it’s as overpriced too. People just think it’s not as overpriced as Chanel CF because it’s been overpriced for a longer period of time and is hard to actually buy one.

Vintage Chanel classic flap bags are better, just make sure the condition is well-cared for, i’d suggest checking it yourself before buying & ofc autheticate them.

Who cares how much is the bags you carry. It only make you look stupid. They are all same, no style. I have a couple lv but I only get compliments when wearing a cheap Ralph Lauren. I have also very old coach bags for over 20 years that I washed them in the washer machine . They are like New and people came up to ask me what it is ad there is no Logo back those years. Can you wash a LV, a Chanel or a hermes???? But coach and Dooney bourke, Yes! And they are real sturdy leather. If taking good care of them, even neglect them, they last forever and in good shape for decades. An example, the coach cassie looks exactly the same as the pochette metis louis vuitton, except one is all leather I got 150 new at the boutique and one is canvas with lots of issues price almost 3k. And the Cassie looks ways better than the louis vuitton metis pochette, elegant but sturdy and Care free

Hi Steph, I got my mini pochette for £195 in 2019 it was impossible to get at the time I’ve never actually had a use for it so I would never pay the price it is now. Love the Ysl coin card holder. I was interested in the Chanel mini flap but need to travel at least 3 hours to purchase one and the price has gone up again considering another brand but unsure what one
