As far as timeline, place etc is concerned, South India was going through a lot of turmoil at that time. We can only rely on books and whatever is left now. Just because there are two jaya stambas you cant say Sri Vidyaranya was not defeated. It means that there is confusion regarding place of defeat. There are many Shankara Vijayas and in each there is lot of difference, even in names of parents of Sri Shankaracharya. Does that mean Sri Shankaracharya was non existent? Also, Vijayanagara empire did not collapse after Ramaraya. Get your history correct first. Capital was shifted to Pengonda and then almost everything and more was re captured. So your story that Vijayanagara kingdom went down due to Vaishnavism is cooked up. All people who are Vaishnavas now were Shaivas before.
