    It's always a pleasure to listen your lessons!!
    Maybe another point to be discuss is the length and weight of the armature bar related to the different types of rear/front springs and frame geometry.
    Cheers

    Bought my first coil gun from Amazon just to practice to see if it's something I could do well. Lining, no problem. Shading, absolutely not. I cannot get the skin to take the color. It just will not take the ink properly and I will not move to human skin and scar it all up going over it four hundred times to get it to accept color smh. Any suggestions? Slowed the machine down, adjusted the spring up top (although probably not correctly,) slowed down my movement... Idk what to do. Technique is on point or so I believe. I'm lost!!!

    Thanks man you was a big help on tuning I was wondering what was the best way to tune your machine loaded or unloaded...and it seem to be clear tuning your machine while loaded to have the correct numbers

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can tune it unloaded to get close. Then load it up and make minor adjustment. Then take it for a spin. Tattoo with it and see if it's doing a good job.

    Do You actually tune your machines to the skin type of a specific person?

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tune the machines a specific way. They are set up to do a certain job. I can adjust a machine to the artist needs. Set a machine to specifications different artist like. It would be up to the artist to make decisions on what works best for the client. What machine settings would get the job done. Can make multipurpose machines or ones that only do one thing.

      @@TheBeardedTattooer Here is the plan. Right now I'm moving and using this time to get myself reorganized. Tattoo University is Unique in how things are taught. Its purpose is to teach the fundamentals. Teach things that have not been taught yet. Make improvements to the way things are done. What I need to do every so often is reflect on the progress and see where changes need to be made. The answer to your question is yes, but I want to do it in a different way. Want things to be more organized and structured. TH-cam videos are random and people jump around too much. There is no structure. I've started writing some books on tattooing techniques. As I write these books there will be videos to go along with them. This way people can get visual and have book to use as reference.

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheBeardedTattooer Right now because I'm trying to get myself more organized I'm going through older video. There is stuff I deleted. Videos I made and never posted. Files I have on my computer that I need to organize. I've evolved as a tattoo artist and the channel has evolved. I'm looking to see if some of the older videos need to be deleted. There might be better information out there now. I've changed my process and some stuff is outdated. I really want the channel to grow and improve. Stay updated and not get stale. It might feel like that right now because of the house cleaning. Let you guys know I have plans to do a lot of videos that will be better quality. I'm going to set up the new areas for recording video. There will be several camera angles. There will be cameras where I tune machines. I plan on making everything better. Just need to get through the time it will take me to set all of that up. I will be posting some shorter videos until everything is ready.

    Hey bud I've been tattooing on and off for 18 years self-taught never tattoo anybody but friends and family never did it for money. Just start getting back into it. Good friend of mine actually got me back into it he wanted a tattoo so I did a small tattoo on him and everywhere that I put black in solid he scarred and it looked infected to me. He has multiple tattoos from other people and places. When I seen it it scared the crap out of me but he told me that he has issues with certain inks in the past and that it's only take moms ink. So he wanted another tattoo and I ordered some mom's ink and it's healing funny again not as bad as the first tattoo but it definitely does not look right. Second tattoo black outline and grayscale first tattoos black outline grayscale. But the 2nd tattoos with think that he said was good for him so it must be something wrong with him. when I seen the second tattoo wasn't healing good as well he was trying to tell me that I was too deep but I wasn't I know it wasn't he didn't bleed I didn't rip him up. Voltage wasn't High I have good tattoo machines. So my question is have you ever come across someone like this? this is a friend of mine that I've known for years. it's very discouraging seeing My Tattoos not heal right and not knowing why. Like I said I'm self-taught practice on myself on my thighs and my arm my dad was my Kenny pig as well. Was always clean. It's just scary. I'm just getting back into it and I want to quit already do you have any advice or have you ever seen or heard of anything like this I can send you pictures

      That's gross, put the machine down and either get an apprenticeship or leave it to the professionals.

    @lukedorrington7455 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My new machines came in the post today the liner came with 224 grams of tension and the shader was a little higher I'm going to adjust that what ballpark figures should I be aiming for?

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone has what works for them. Typical liner tends to be a faster machine with a short stroke. People set the tension differently. Personally I would raise the tension a little depending on the machine and the springs. What you need to do in this situation is adjust your machine so it is tuned correctly and then take it for a test drive.

    Do we ride the tube when packing colors?

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't need to ride the tube but some artist like to do this when packing color. As long as you can do it without coloring outside of the lines or making mistakes. Riding the tube blocks what you can see but doing a bigger colored area wouldn't matter as much. Do what works for you.I don't ride the tube. I just don't hang my needles as much when packing color.

    I've been a tattooist for over 20 years and while some of the things you say in this video maybe correct you really don't need to worry to much about spring weights.
    I think it's time that you actually started to show us some of your tattoo work because if you are not a good tattooist how can you teach or advise others.
    Also you can line with any weight of ink for example colour or black
    You do give some good advice so please don't take offence to my comments I just would like to see some of your actual tattoo work

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There will be more work posted. I have some older stuff posted on social media. Right now I'm more focused on machines. It is a bit of a trade. Working on machines takes a lot of time. Takes away from tattooing. My mentor said you are either a builder or a tattoo artist. I get why he said that now. It is difficult to do both. I'm changing how I will be doing things. When everything is set up again there will be more tattooing technique videos.

    What's up Bro, I'm new to the game and ur channel has helped me so much. This Yahoo is using ur name Tattoo University for a master class in tattooing and charging alot for it. I follow his work because I like his style. But when he messes with one of my mentors name it pisses me off. You help people and we appriseate it. He's charging thousands, I don't think it's right when he's using ur name. The Dickhead's name is Daniel Silva. Thank you for all you do. Sincerely, Stan

      I'm aware of this. My information is free. I'm not concerned with what other people are doing because they have different motive than me. I started doing this to help people and my main motivation isn't to make money. Things are changing from when I started. You can see a lot more professional artist teaching online. When I started it was hard to find good information. It actually makes me happy to see this form of teaching becoming more accepted. I will continue doing what I do and will be happy for anyone who is successful teaching others how to tattoo. This might seem odd to some but it's how I am.

    Sir I have a question..when we do tattooing and bcoz of the air in the atmosphere our ink in the ink cups getting thick so will it be ok to do tattoo with it I mean how will be result..
    I use intenze true black ink..
    I'm getting thick scabs I have controled my machine speed and even I'm not going for skin damage.. so I think the ink is little thick so bcoz of that Im getting thick scab..is it possible sir?

    • @TattooUniversity
      @TattooUniversity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      scabs are from too much damage to the skin. I would work more on controlling the depth of your needle and your hand speed.

    WRongggggg. The duty cycle and hz and all that shit are guidelines..A duty cycle between 38-54 will probably get the best results but its all subjective. Setup machine the way you like it based on your individual real experience. Use the the numbers as a guideline to keep that machine consistent if and when the machine needs new springs or if you want to try something new and can go back. Dont listen to this guy he is CLUELESS.
