Nice kick from the Digitone. Great to read about the ESI again. I have one, recently purcased, with floppy emulator and turbo installation. I seldom play with it but would like a workflow where its easy to import/sample loops and get the loops perfect. The jog wheel is a pain though...

Hi. Yes that Digitone is great for kicks. I often use the Esi to simply sample a stereo input then trim and filter etc. it’s possible to set it up as an 8 separate out beast with the Turbo (many early jungle records made this way). I have also done midi sample dump to it after prepping samples on a computer (mono only). However I like using the pitch bend wheel to scrub back and forth over the sample when editing to audition a bit like a DJ scrubbing back a record - takes a little getting used to but fast and hands on and away from the damn computer. The Esi workflow is initially quirky but you soon memorise key presses to avoid using the jog wheel too much. Good luck!
