This game series is so close to my heart. It has been a Christmas tradition for my family to try to binge play a game every Christmas. Thats been hard considering them not releasing a game every year now. The Salem witch game we haaattteed but we hope that with the development with technology maybe someone will pick the game series up again
I hope they keep making games. My daughter is just now old enough to enjoy them and I want her to have as much fun as I did and to experience the excitement of new ones coming out.
Nothing against the new voice actress, but with all the game changes to be honest I just want the original voice actress back. I feel like I could handle the changes if it still felt like Nancy. But now the whole structure of the game is a stranger and so is the character I grew up with.
I understand how you feel, I've resorted to just go and play through the other games because I just gave up on the series after they let Lani go and MID's gameplay was not smooth either, I just realized it no longer was what it used to be.
I hoped there will be more games. Herinteractive clearly really struggled a lot even getting this game out and from what I understand they were already struggling before, which prompted the new direction in the first place.
My daughter and my nieces as well as myself would be absolutely thrilled to see more Nancy Drew Games come out. We were not happy with Midnight at Salem but all the games before hand were great!!!!
Midnight in Salem was horrible from what I was reading from other players they had just as much problems with the game as I did like game shutting down constantly lag problems constantly lack of puzzles 2 play was horrible as well and what puzzles they did have was so easy it made it boring I have fond memories of all the games from beginning the games helped me so much as a kid
If you're ever looking for a fun ND related video to do, you could do a video pointing out all the little details and easter eggs in all the games. Like pointing out every Sonny Joon reference/every recurring/past character reference... Just a thought.
You are the Nancy Drew Clue Finder!!! So cool that you have deciphered the mystery of how Her Interactive Chooses the next games! Can't wait to learn more!!!
I wouldn't say "a clue finder" - she worked there, so she knows. I remember seeing her under a (kinda cringy tbh... why dont just use the real name? I'd be a lot more appearing to me if she was just refered to as Cecilia ) nickname "little jackalope" - I recognized her face and voice straight away, so if she worked there, she probably knows about those "clues" and game makin process, even if she wasnt a programer/designer herself...
Yep, I did work for HeR Interactive, Inc. from 2010 - 2021. And yes, my pseudonym was cringy, but it was tradition to choose one to protect interns (in 2010) from real identity because at the time, there were fewer safegaurds in place on social media from fans stalking employees. My real name is Calina. :)
@@StoryRetold oh, ok. I didn't know that they made you use nicknames for that matter. so you were an intern in there? you worked there for quite some time, 11 years is a lot of experience. what did you do in there? I'm not askin for any intrusive details, but I'm guessing marketing related stuff? I remember you appearing on videos(that Halloween special or whatever that was, Its been a while since I watched that) and sorry, Calina. it's an unusual(and pretty) name 😊 definitely wayy prettier than that nickname you had(I don't want to be rude to you, I'm just saying that frankly, I always cringed whenever I read an article/watched a company video and heard or saw "written/created by Rainbow Unicorn, Little Kitten, Angry Hornet, etc. 🤣
On his resume, it seems Sonny Joon also worked on "Mystery Cruises", which I hope is a hint at a future game! Nancy Drew needs to get food poisoning on a cruise! Someone needs to fall overboard! Prudence Rutherford could be a potential cruiser, the possibilities are endless!
Great possibilities, indeed! When I asked the previous designer about this she gave me an ambiguous answer and a sly smirk about the cruise... but the old team with the old plans are no longer with the company. The format for future games have drastically changed.
Wow Calina, I love this video! The transitions and screens look beautiful! I also really enjoyed listening to all these little Easter eggs and clues that I sure never noticed before. This is why I always compare the Nancy Drew games to Nintendo games, the HeR dev team always took so much effort into the smaller things in their worlds and it’s so cool to see the passion involved. As for game 34 and HeR Interactive, as frustrated as I am with not having a new game, I genuinely do hope for their success and a revival of the Nancy Drew adventure games. It’s been a pleasure being able to stream them on twitch and get lots of LGBT streamers people into the games as well. The amount of LGBT gamers that play Nancy Drew games is insane! But yeah, thank you so much again for this wonderful video, and for sharing with us all these cool facts. I truly am excited for the future of the Nancy Drew IP, and I’m also excited for the fan base creations as well, including Amelia Darnell, Super Spy Academy (shameless self promotion) 😂, Marcella Moon, and much more! The Nancy Drew community is one of the most close knit and inclusive video game communities I’ve ever been in and I am so excited to see what’s next 😄
Great video, Calina! I was especially interested in the Maya Nguyen Easter Egg in FIN! Very very sneaky, those devs! They really knew how to tease! Fingers crossed we get some ND34 news soon. Can't wait to see what HeR has in store for the future!
Awesome awesome video! Would love to see a full history of HER interactive/the work on the Nancy Drew series. I think you would do a great job. Keep it up!
This is fantastic :D, though I wish we knew more about their current ways of doing things... Does anyone happen to know if the current Her Interactive people listen/read/watch reviews about MID? I think it would be awfully silly if they choose to ignore the very people they want to sell to...
Loved hearing how the next games were chosen! I personally don't feel Mystery of the Seven Keys is the next Nancy Drew game. But I can't wait to find out what it could be!
This was so interesting! You could do a Master’s thesis on HeR with this kind of research 😂 I would love to see more vids along this line (but ik they must take a lot of time) - gotta keep up on my HeR lore haha
Well, in its current climate, two ways: work for the companies the HeR team is outsourcing, or simply email your resume direct to HeR Interactive. I doubt they are hiring for roles right now, but if so, it would probably be contractual.

she retired
@@krystalharwood6359 Actually, HeR let her go.

CEO then decided to find a voice actress local to the Seattle area (Minella resides in San Diego).
I hoped there will be more games. Herinteractive clearly really struggled a lot even getting this game out and from what I understand they were already struggling before, which prompted the new direction in the first place.
What started the struggle? Why did the CEO before Penny leave?

You blew my mind with the Maya N = Mayan clue. 🤯🤯🤯
I enjoyed the format and flow of this video! It felt very professional and informative, yet concise and engaging.
The music is soooo nostalgic!
I remember being 10 and playing and note keeping all my puzzles, I'm so excited for a new one but also want to replay all the old ones

lol someone definitely needs to fall overboard.
@@StoryRetold That's true sadly, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Thanks so much for the wonderful video!
I love the Nancy Drew games I really don't want them to end I'll be heartbroken and disappointed if they don't make them anymore
i just hope we hear something soon
Found this while trying to find news on a new game haha
I love nancy so much. So many flashbacks. I need a new game. 🥺

Fantastic video! And thanks for the shoutout!
Too bad HER no longer listens to their fans.
Great video! Loved the insight into the way things worked at HerInteractive.
Woah....the thing about the clues for the next games completely blew my mind haha. Now I'm gonna be looking out for these like crazy when I play 😂
Absolutely! Especially games 20-32 - those had a lot of clues!
I would love a video about all the hints into the other games I am so bad at noticing that stuff 🤣 but love that they did that
Always good to use the books direct source

Very enjoyable, Calina! Hope you and your husband and children are all doing well.
We are doing great, thank you! 😊 ❤️
@@StoryRetold I am so glad to hear that. 🙂 ❤
Very cool! Any tips for getting a story or design based job like the ones described here? My dream would have been to work at HER in the 2000s!
Well, in its current climate, two ways: work for the companies the HeR team is outsourcing, or simply email your resume direct to HeR Interactive. I doubt they are hiring for roles right now, but if so, it would probably be contractual.
I tried applying and offering myself to be game designer as well. How cool would it have been to be among the team for those early games! 😀
Loved this wow
Interesting.. thanks for the info! =)
I like your cover art idea for Seven Keys. Maybe submit a suggestion using it. 😉
