"Walking in the air" sung by treble Aksel Rykkvin, in a Norwegian version ("Vandrer på en sky") written by Marte Wulff and Charlotte Qvale. The song was part of the opening for the show "Kvelden før kvelden" December 23, 2016 on NRK1.

I just received my copy of the cd "Aksel-Arias" and I am speechless at the sheer beauty of the vocal interpretations of these classical tunes. While I realize he is now a baritone, nevertheless, I wouldn't have missed having this lasting legacy of a truly astounding voice. only wish he had more cd's available.

TH-cam have just recommended this beautifully sung piece to me - as excellent music for Christmas! (first time I've heard it in Norwegian - what a lovely sound!). But I wonder why, in July?! Probably means you'll be doing the Cold Song as an encore at Stolberg...
Lucky you! Fascinating as TH-cam's recommendations for me are (serial killers and psychopaths), I would much rather hear this. Aksel's version is far and away the best. His voice, ful of magic and mystery, lifts us up until we, too, are "walking in the air".
Nearly a spiritual experience but it ends so abruptly!

Is it me or does he bear a striking resemblance to Aled Jones, who was also not much older than Aksel was here when he recorded it? Wow.
At least if you meant /visually/, some similarities to varying degrees (hair most salient-- esp. color, style to a degree) but overall, I do not find a striking resemblance between Rykkvin and Jones.
Dearest Aksel, you are an inspiration for all musical youths... I sincerely hope that you have a musical future, but you have already done so much for the musical world that I don't think anyone would be upset if you decided to take a break and concentrate on football for awhile; your artistic contribution is quite a lot already! I beg you, please don't ever smoke cigarettes, (and I know there are lots of temptations in the world of the arts)... once you start, it's very hard to quit! I used to have a nice voice; now I sound like a croaking frog because of my idiotic choice to smoke tobacco...
I am curious, do you also play musical instruments, or are you confining your talent to singing for now?

Are you sure it was the language and not the singer? I've heard many versions of this. Aksel's is by far the most beautiful.

It's ok, Aksel. :-) Walking In The Air is one of my favourite songs, and The Snowman is one of my all time favourite Christmastime stories. I'm just glad I was able to hear a little bit of the song sung in Norwegian. :-)
