    Delta 2/46 and I swear I think the only reason these Drill Sergeants seem so chill is cuz they on camera cuz i do NOT remember them ever being this polite.

      I think it's the fact they are being filmed mixed with the fact that they are a POG training unit, they had it alot easier then the Cavs and Tankers

    I realize alot of these young men sign . How many of these really stay in . I know they are young thinking they really Know what they are doing and signing up for . But yet thinking they know it all . Get careless and loose their lives also .Which is very sad . But the way they tear these young People down to rebuild them to what they expect . Does this Help or Hurt them ???

    • @pixelcade
      @pixelcade  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +chicky1785 In my Platoon alone we had 2 Section 8's and about 10 that
      didn't complete basic meaning they were recycled to the next class. I
      was one of the older guys being 24 when I joined there was one other
      person older than me in my Platoon who was 37 he was a good guy but he
      couldn't make it. Yes it is important to be broken down and molded into a
      soldier. You must be conditioned to react, respect your fellow soldiers
      and learn the life style etc...
      I was a 91W after Basic a Combat Medic and having the training I
      received from Fort Knox the breaking down and rebuilding helped hone me
      focus and determination to the fighting force. Until you experience it
      and put it all on the line you will never understand. I can see your
      points but there is a method to the madness. It forms bonds between
      soldiers because you are all equal and as the training progresses you
      are tasked to throw in your own knowledge on what to do in a situation.
      And for the record EVERYONE signed we have an all volunteer military.

    • @chicky-ek9gq
      @chicky-ek9gq 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Being conditioned as you say sounds they retrain your brain . Almost like brain washing to a point . But can understand this to a point your own feeling would always do the talking first if seeing one of your own being hurt or killed .You have to be able to stay as a Team . Not falling apart in the middle of a battle Not only putting your own views in place
      Are you retired or still in the Military Friend ? And if so are you home on Deployed right now ?
      Thankyou kindly for your reply friend .
      Much love hugs and prayers

    • @pixelcade
      @pixelcade  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +chicky1785 I was medically discharged. And being a free thinker I never considered it brain washing. It's training conditioning you to react and work as s team. Even if you are afraid your conditioned to act and react. I miss the service terribly it was a great lifestyle for me. So I do what I can now for veterans and work with the schools veterans office I attend to help vets get their benefits.

    • @chicky-ek9gq

      Hi Friend ..
      Thankyou for your Service . How long have you been discharge and do miss it ?.May I ask if you were badly hurt ? My heart goes out to all Vets ..And might I ask if you get flash backs
      Working as a Team is very important on mission the Military does do .
      I think this is great what you do .. God Bless you friend
      Have a wonderful day their
      Hugs and smiles

      It is a small price to pay for the privilege of living in the United States of America. There is nothing I am more proud of than signing myself over to Uncle Sam at the tender age of 17. My military training has served me well in my life. I am a retired disabled veteran, injured in the Gulf War, and I would not change a thing. The best friends are those you can count on. I met most of those friends in the Army. Ft. Knox boot camp, 1986.

    I went through 30 years before you, D -15 - 4. A world of difference. 4th Brigade where, yes, they filmed Stripes, is now totally gone. The old reception station is gone. There is a huge Human Resources Command building taking up much of where 4th Brigade was. I was also stationed there 83 - 86 and everything from then is gone or changed as well. BTW, we did PT in our boots back then. Unblouse the trousers, untuck the shirt (pre BDU days) and off we went. Went through PLDC at Knox as well and that is also gone, as is the Drill Sergeant School.

    Hard to believe this was filmed 11 years ago. My time was back in April, 1981...D-3-1...armor crewman basic and AIT in the Disney Barracks. My cycle was the last ones to be issued pickle suits, that's how long ago it was! Afterwards, I was assigned to 4/37th armor, 194th armored training brigade (I doubt this unit even exists anymore) at Fort Knox. I thought I was lucky. Little did I know how much better the Army was over in Germany until I PCS'd over there to the Cavalry. Remember these times, young men, for they are sacred, and you will spend the rest of your lives trying to find and recapture the camaraderie you were privileged to be a part of in your youth. And thank you, Drill Sergeants Simms and Mason for showing me the path to manhood.

      Sadly to say, the armored divisions have moved to Texas.
      That happened several years ago.
      Fort knox is basically Human Resources Command for the ARMY.
      and cadet training. 229th "flying tigers" is still there. Apaches replaced with Blackhawks.

      +Ron Lawrence that's true Ron, basically lots of barracks. HRC Is the big thing. i live just outside base in Radcliff.
      still load military trains every so often. little track left up in base.
      thank you for your well respected service. veterans don't get the credit they deserve now and it really is a shame.
      thank you again,
      mike

      Michael Appleby I started out living in E-Town, then moved into Radcliff before I PCS'd. I lived on a really pretty little street with a divided road called Logsdon Parkway. I really loved living there, but spent way too much of my paychecks at the Cav Store if you know what I mean.
      Hey, I've got a real blast from the past. Ever been to Shepherdsville?

    • @RailroadScannerMan15
      @RailroadScannerMan15 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ron Lawrence definitely interesting.
      I live next to the Nazarene Church off logsdon. remember the old Nazarene close to Elm Rd?
      this town is falling apart with a quickness. over run by thugs and everything looks awful. changed over the years and quite honestly, not for the good.
      German restaurant under the bridge by Big M Chevy is all but history and the drug store in Radcliff before you get to Walmart way and elm is gone and has been closed for years. now it's a tattoo shop.
      and I have been to Shep a few times.
      not many in this current time.
      I lived in FL most of my life (Tallahassee, go Noles!!!) and when I came here, it's changed. I am not an older guy, I am 20. would've never knew.

    I was there Aug 03-Dec 03. Forget what company. 3rd platoon. Drill Sgt. Pollard. We got lucky with only 1 Drill Sgt. Kinda wish this vid had more of the everyday struggle. Pugil fighting, gas chamber, and obstacle course is legit like only 3 days out of the 4 months.
    Was sent to S. Korea after. If youre aingle and under 21, they automatically send you to Germany or Korea. 7months in Korea and we got orders that we were going to Iraq. They werent supposed to be able to send us from 1 hazard duty station to another, but found some loophole i guess lol.
    I got a purple heart after being shot near Ramadi. 15 years later and im still dealing with stuff from that 2 year period. I dont regret my decision and would do it again. Only thing I can be proud of besides my son. If youre still reading this: thank you. 🙃
