She is lovely! I am in tears. I was lucky enough to have been in a class where she came and taught and the way she commanded the studio the minute she walked in, you could hear a pin drop! Thank you so much for sharing!

I feel like the spirit of the ballet world has gotten colder since I was younger, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, this wonderful woman reminds me of everything I loved about ballet when I was little. Thanks for the video!!

I adore this idea of how the knowledge and tradition are passed down through the generations - I like to imagine that one could trace an almost un broken line from Alicia Markova to Mlle. Antoinetta Dell-Era in this particular role

Actually, we were blessed with having this magnificent artist until 2004 when she died at age 94. How wonderful that she lives forever in splendid films like these. If only Diaghilev had allowed the original Ballet Russes to be filmed! Imagine being able to watch Nijinsky and Karsavina in Spectre?!! Ahhhhh.........

Most likely the greatest ballerina ever! With Ballet Theatre (later ABT), in the 1940's my uncle patnerted her, and my to make a long story short, she was like watching the music itself in "Giselle." She was a tiny woman with all the talent and command a ballerina could give. I think it's wonderful she decided to coach those lucky enough to have her! She died in 1994, and was a professor at the University of Cincinnati's dance department until that time. How magnificent, lovely, and great! ..

Is this particular version performed still as Markova danced it? Royal Ballet and National Ballet of Cuba have very similar versions but they are still a bit different.
