This sensei is impressive. He immediately reads what wrong with each student and doesn't let him to hit at the time. It's more hard to do actually. I'm also impressed by these students. It is very hard to hit correctly after the shinai was knocked away, but they still hit correctly.
Kakari Geiko is an exercise in which the student attacking, is forced to keep fighting beyond the point of physical exhaustion, it is designed to test mind over matter, and prove that a student can show strong spirit even when their body is broken.
and whats awesome(to me anyway) is that aftr u do this till u want to die, when you do shinai shiai with somebody youre way faster. its like it breaks your brain and body but youre so tired you begin to react without thinking. its the whole mu nen, mu shin thing. pretty coo i think. the human body is incredible.
I boxed before I did Kendo...for me, kakarigeiko is like a combination of Intense Focus mitt training & heavy bag switch drills(when you pucnh the bag continuosly for 30 seconds with full speed & power).
I'm not a kendo guy and I'm not familiar with the term Kakari Geiko. so what do we have here? I'm guessing this is a training session with the sensei being the guy that's getting hit by everybody to teach them what is open when and where and how to move and strike properly. is that close? that's quite a cool video. those guys are pretty darn fast. and can you say "bouncey"? good, I knew you could. 5 and fav
dam i suck at this kendo exercise i get confused because when i do a shiai with my master, he leaves his men open and i kinda dont get it and he laughs at me T___T ahhh y does life suck

Thanks Lenny, I don't know much about Kendo but it looks to me like they did a really good job. this is a really fun video to watch.
thinking about where these students are now. Some of them are yondans, and some of them never picked up a shinai again...
