Preparation of Soil & Beds for Kitchen Gardening :
Preparing soil for growing vegetables is essential for ensuring healthy plant growth and a bountiful harvest. Here are some steps to prepare soil for veggies:
Choose the Right Location: Select a spot in your garden that receives adequate sunlight (at least 6-8 hours per day) and has good drainage. Avoid areas where water tends to accumulate or where there are large trees that might compete for nutrients.
Clear the Area: Remove any weeds, rocks, or debris from the chosen area. Weeds can compete with your vegetable plants for water and nutrients, so it's important to clear them out thoroughly.
Test the Soil: Use a soil test kit or send a soil sample to a local cooperative extension service to determine the pH and nutrient levels of your soil. Most vegetables prefer a slightly acidic soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Based on the test results, you may need to amend the soil to adjust its pH and nutrient levels.
Amend the Soil: Depending on the soil test results, you may need to add organic matter such as compost, well-rotted manure, or composted leaves to improve soil structure and fertility. Organic matter helps retain moisture, improves drainage, and provides essential nutrients for plant growth.
Till the Soil: Use a garden tiller or a shovel to loosen the soil to a depth of at least 8-12 inches. This will help improve aeration, drainage, and root penetration. Avoid tilling when the soil is too wet, as it can lead to compaction.
Add Fertilizer: If your soil test indicates low nutrient levels, you can add organic or synthetic fertilizers to provide essential nutrients for plant growth. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for application rates and timing.
Mulch the Soil: Once the soil is prepared and the vegetable plants are planted, apply a layer of organic mulch such as straw, grass clippings, or shredded leaves around the plants. Mulch helps suppress weeds, retain moisture, and regulate soil temperature.
Water Regularly: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Most vegetables require about 1-2 inches of water per week, either from rainfall or irrigation. Water deeply and infrequently to encourage deep root growth.
Rotate Crops: To prevent nutrient depletion and reduce the risk of soilborne diseases, practice crop rotation by planting different types of vegetables in the same area each year.
By following these steps, you can prepare your soil for growing healthy and productive vegetable crops. Remember to monitor your plants regularly for signs of nutrient deficiencies, pests, and diseases, and take appropriate action to address any issues that arise.

Nice work. Keep it up. it is very difficult to find quality content about kitchen garden on internet. Sir explains very well.
I suggest start doing the series on veggies and fruits. Take 1 plant and explain all the process i.e (like you do write now for seedling) with organic pest control.
Also a question what pest control / fertilizer you guys are using on seedling when the seedling is about 6 inch tall?
ماشاء اللہ بہت اچھے طریقے سے سمجھاتے ہیں قاضی صاحب۔
