I show you how to get inside the single seat record setting McLaren Solus GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. #solusgt #goodwoodfestivalofspeed #mclaren
That is one helluva ride, Brooks! Great content, as always. Funny thing is that each time you said McLaren Solus, the closed caption would write it as "McLaren Soul-less". Nothing could be further from the truth! 🤣
Cool car. You're a great brand ambassador. McLaren should collaborate with you on creating a Brooks Edition drag racing package for some of their other cars.
never thought the side to side helmet protection would be attached to a more or less a fascia canopy. i dont recall seeing that before. yeah yeah yeah their engineers know their stuff but as a layman i'd like to understand how this works.
Dragtimes Awesome Review I think it's awesome that you had a chance to check out that Absolutely incredible McLaren Solus GT and I hope you get to drive the Triple F Collections someday
The V8 has been ditched. In favour of a naturally aspirated V10 that revs past 10,000rpm and develops 840bhp. This is good news, even if it’s not boosted by an electric motor for each front wheel.
I just don’t understand the true value if each seat is molded to the person who bought it. Even if the buyers never sold it but passed it down to their kids, how would they be able to drive it?
Just an easy $150k seat swap 😆 But in seriousness I'm not sure about that I'd assume they would be uncomfortable and would have to have a new seat installed (either a new replacement seat molded again provided by Mclaren if they would, or install a regular seat.) I know the McLaren F1 had a molded central seat for the driver but I'm not sure how that worked out exactly.
@TooManyChoices1 I understand that for cars without windshields (F1 cars, etc.) but this has one. Is the glass different than other cars that go this fast and are track only built or is this just another precaution for protection? For example the Bugatti Bolide doesn't have one.
@@DragTimes McMurtry Spéirling at 39.081 seconds in 2022, this year McLaren Solus GT - 45.34, who cares if the McMurtry Spéirling did not get an official time this year...
I see the tape holding the side helmet/headrest padding on, it's already falling apart on a 3.5 million car. I love McLaren but, I have the same problems on mine. Everything held together with Velcro and 3M tape. Come on McLaren, I'm your Midwest ambassador and this is embarrassing.
You kno that's not a person's car . I've been a few prototypes and u would be surprised 😅 also lol I work on airplanes 😅 yeah u don't want to kno what holds planes together. 😊
McLaren continues to make these limited edition models to dilute the brand. This one is totally useless. Good for the super rich who will let it sit in their collection
@inflatable2 unfortunately mclaren is going bankrupt. They sold their HQ for like +200M and is now renting the same HQ to hold off bankruptcy. It's like selling your house just to rent it from the new owner. Aston Martin will be the first to go though.
Two different directions of development purposes. But yeah personally I do appreciate the T50, it sounds absolutely incredible and has a manual transmission 👍, and recreates the looks of the F1 besides the fan. The Solus' insane creation is more in line with the Bugatti Bolide, Delage D12, etc.
Mad props to McLaren for letting you sit in it. Such an awesome car, this is what I wanted the Sabre to be!
This looks like McLaren's answer to the Aston Martin Valkyrie (designed Adrian Newey).. Both insane cars.. They're like F1 cars for the public road..
Was about to say, looks like a cross between the Valkyrie and the McMurtry with a bit of Batmobile/Porsche 919 vibes thrown in for good measure.
It's not road legal
@@TheG60528XiJinPing legally owned f1 cars then
I'd pay that for the canopy closing mechanism alone......(if i wasnt broke)

@@larryc1616 I know, my 6.2 L truck will be ready for it.
Insane machine. I'll just have to settle for my cheap McLaren's though.
765 is not cheap at all 🎉
first world problems lol
I'll have to settle for my matchbox 765LT
What Mclaren would that be?
Mclaren staff changing voices when you get out without taking stearing wheel 😂
The Triple F car will probably have the xl seats. 😂 Love both of your channels.
Great you got to enjoy the great British summer weather at glorious Goodwood 😂. I would love to sit in that McLaren.
Glad stuff like this exists
Dammm Brooks!
What a crazy CRAZY time !
Cool concept definitely a F1. Inspiration in this design
That thing is a formula car with the wheels enclosed.. nuts!
V6 V8 V10 perfect for hybridisation. Plus that Cosworth V12 My Oh My.
A nod and a 10.4 in the Elva. Alas lucky boy.
"It's good to be the king!"
That's so sick!

Not a proper driver Aka F1 Ace?

Thanks to Gran Turismo, this car became real one and being well recognized in the world.
I hope a ton of this styling comes to their road cars.
Such a cool McLaren jacket.
Be more cool if some LMDH/LMH versions get made for WEC and IMSA
Next WEC/IMSA top class should be something like this car...
So it’s basically a F1 car… with some added bits.
No.
Didn’t know I was claustrophobic until he closed the canopy.

Reminds me of the Mazda Furai
You should drag race some Calvo Motorsport turbo vipers in your fatest car's. It will be interesting to see.
Legit car
Tell Hayden he needs one as well
Sounds amazing! I wonder how the 765lt would fair against this beast in a 1/4 mile race
8.7-9.1s probably. The Elva is quick 9.2s with a proper driver. Oh them trigger word's. 10.4 madness shown.
Canopy doors are sooo cool
Cornelius Would Be Proud.
Lucky the Solus didn’t swallow you whole or kidnap you 😂
Welcome to a typical English summer!
Does a vehicle have to be that expensive to go that fast?
No! As a Tesla Model S Plaid has proven that on the straights, so will another vehicle in the twisties.

Did you meet up with Tim (Shmee150)?
Probably yes
yes, I visited his garage...
I was there. What a disappointing FOS Saturday.
Why disappointing
@Euromasterrace5000 from what I've read, for one the order of the cars going was in an odd order, and there was rain as well so wet pavement.
Haha you closed the hatchett on the seat belt , ouch
That halo would probably part your hair in a head on.
AC’s are for the lower class.

Why would you need halo when you have a windscreen?
Halo protects from debris off other cars like tires crashing into the windscreen. They were required after some tires killed a couple people.

The McMurtry was faster. The run was not 'officially' timed due to politics but that doesn't change the fact.
What politics? Aren't both british?
The car is glued to the road with an electric fan. Boring.

Lots of prototypes are like this because "prototype". Not "production" ready for the customer.

Gordon Murray’s T50 weights less, has 3 seats, it’s a manual.
