You know what is sad? Somewhere there is a good deck just sitting around not being used. But to find it and everything is the problem.
    Nice job

I'm willing to bet there's some even stacked in warehouses, forgotten in "transit". You should see how many things like that get thrown to the steel yard because in some cases (countries) you can't sell them anymore and you have to dispose of them.

Little tip. Once you’ve scored your sheet just break it off and grind the edge. Save the saw blades for when you need them. Looks good man.

    Good work there, chief!
And good note with the safety glasses. They're important when anything is spinning or chips are flying! I've had things hit me right in the glasses before and who knows what would have happened if they weren't there. Cheers RK!

A good job, looks reasonable, considering the state it was in. The manufacturers change the designs every so often so you are forced to buy a new mower every so often as old parts disappear from stock. The one you have has tension pulleys the newer one do not. Plus they now go over the top with health and safety, labels and safety switches everywhere. I removed the safety switch from the seat as I like to get of the mower to open gates with out stopping the mower. I know if I falloff the mower it will keep going until it runs out of fuel or it hits a tree or something.A risk I am willing to take as cars do not have this feature

I hate to say it but drives me crazy when people take the deflectors off their mowers. It's dangerous. We had a bolt from the neighbors lawn tractor come flying through our bedroom window because of no deflector. The bolt fell off the tractor and was run over and the blade kicked it up. Had I been laying down at that end of the bed that afternoon that thing would have hit me in the head or neck plus the glass shards would have done some serious cutting. I just happened to be laying at the other end of the bed that day because the wife was washing the curtains and the sun was on that side of the house. Lucky for me.

Good job RK, you can spray some truck bed liner under the deck for some added protection. There is also a purpose made silicone type spray that helps the wet grass not stick, or easier to hose out..but it's "spensive"

Everett, SAVE those stickers. Put them
in a scrapbook or special envelope.
If some OSHA whacko comes looking,
    "I've got them right here."
Yes, OSHA has done some good, but,
I'm just sayin.' Sometimes they do tend
to go on. MY Cast Iron Shopsmith would
NEVER be allowed! But, the first model
