I love this! The “not explaining” thing is so key! You always end up practically talking yourself
    Into it. 😂
Also, it tears down your self-esteem, even if you don’t realize it in the moment. When you are SO focused on making sure no one is mad at you, when controlling other peoples’ perceptions of you is your number one priority, you are telling yourself… “Everyone else is more important than me, even to myself. Others will always be protected at my expense, even by ME. There’s no one I can count on to protect me.”
However, when you shift that mindset, it’s so powerful how quickly reality shifts to align with your new state of mind!
When I started protecting myself from the need to prioritize other people’s conception of me over my own well-being, it is AMAZING how many people were drawn into my life who ALSO prioritize my well-being. WE ATTRACT WHAT WE ARE!!!! 😊

Right! 👏 thank you for sharing!
And great thoughts about loss of self esteem.
It’s alarming how once a negative mindset or behavior forms, it can snowball and just create a web of other damaging beliefs with it.
      Always love your perspective 🫶

As a recovering people pleaser, I LOVE that you are addressing this. I had to learn that "No, thank you" is a complete sentence and requires no other explanation. Actually I adopted "I'm going to pass this time, thanks" as my go to. The key to me being able to do these things was to start with my closest circle (husband and best friends) and let them know that I was going to start setting boundaries and that their support was much appreciated. It gave me the "back up" I felt I needed and to be able to safely practice with them the art of saying no. Thanks for doing this video. It's so important. And when the shoes came off I had to laugh!

A lot of my past “anxiety” and “resentments” stemmed from a lack of setting boundaries or following through with them. It’s so uncomfortable at first to say no, but once you do it- a lot of those secondary problems disappear. And my life is so much more peaceful when I’m happy with myself and my own decision making!! Great episode

Hi, Cade! Great video! Learning to say "No" is a crucial skill! For me it's equally important to do it with kindness and care. When we say "No" respectfully and empathetically, it not only helps us set healthy boundaries but also maintains our relationships and preserves mutual respect. Of course, there are times when people might push too hard or not respect our boundaries, and in those cases, it's essential to be firm and clear. To me saying "No" is about valuing my time and energy while still honoring my connections with others. Have a great day and please drive carefully! 🤗

A wonderful point Nadia, thank you for emphasizing this balance of self-care with kindness! That is an important reminder to not burn bridges of important relationships, because those can be important as well. And don't worry, I'm a very safe driving despite talking throughout haha! 🫶
