  • Canon EF lens ERR01 with error message of lens contact problem.
    This usually have to do with aperture module control error. Aperture cannot shut to smaller value either because of the ribbon snap or the aperture control motor faulty. The best bet is to change the whole module.
    Here is the step by step guide to change it.

    Nowhere on the internet i've found a teardown of the nikon 20-35 2.8. I leave as a suggestion for you to do a video on that lens. I have one and I've torn it apart to try to fix it and now stupid me can't put it back together heheh It's kind of similar to the 80-200 you did. Anyways, just a suggestion. Great channel. Cheers!

      @@WayWalker3 Taking this lens apart was not an easy task, and I would not recommend undertaking this repair to anyone with a faint heart. I had to watch another video to help me with the missing steps. The only other video I found was in Russian, and I had no idea what he was saying. When I got to the aperture module, somehow it opened up, and all of the aperture flaps fell out. I had to reassemble them on my own. That part was terrifying. I took the lens apart several times because things would not align properly. At some point, the lens-sensor focus flex cable snapped. I replaced that one too. However, after so many hours of going back and forth, the ERR01 did not go away. With a heavy heart, I had to let it go. I sold the lens to some happy camper on eBay and I am still mourning its loss.

    How similar is the L1 to take apart? My iris is permanently stuck closed (even off camera), and whatever came loose is now blocking the zoom mechanism. Zoom bumps into something at 28mm, should go to 24mm. Feels spongy, like the return spring popped out the iris mechanism...

    My canon 24-70 f4 was mounted on my 5D mark 3. I committed a grave error by placing it in a paper gift bag because I did not want to take my camera bag. It was just to disguise it. The bag gave way at the bottom and the camera and lens fell to the tiled floor. I’m 5’11” and it fell as I lifted the bag off a table while standing. It crashed to the floor. Immediately I noticed that the lens had a fault. It wasn’t focusing and there was an incessant motoring sound. The panel on the top keeps blinking as well. Eventually, I started getting an Err01 message. The live view doesn’t work anymore when this lens is connected. Other lenses work fine in the camera. I tried attaching the lens to another canon camera and the problem persists.
    What do you think has happened? Do I need to send it in for repairs?

    all good until re-installing 3 pins on aperture ring to support top lens assembly, the assembly drops too low inside the barrel. As I can't see the iterface between aperture and inner barrel in your video, that may be the problem. Direction?

    • @FotoSunMY
      @FotoSunMY  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lay flat the barrel to assemble instead of top down

    • @rickjohnson4887
      @rickjohnson4887 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      your video shows you loading from top and it sits at correct height, I assume its sitting on top of the pins-yes? th-cam.com/video/v_9umlhqRao/w-d-xo.html. On mine the gap between the three pins and bottom of top lens module when it's mounted allows pins to unseat and rattle around freely inside the barrel and potentially damage the glass attached to the aperture ring. Plus, I never saw these recessed grommets in my disassemble (part of the problem?) th-cam.com/video/v_9umlhqRao/w-d-xo.html@@FotoSunMY

    Thank you very much for the helpful video. I have the same problem on my Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 MKI, but maybe some of my observations might be helpful for this model too for people who can't fix it immediately.
    In f2.8 the lens should always work with AF, I saw many other discussions which stated that also.
    I also can trick the camera into using different apertures by selecting a high aperture in the camera, e.g f8 and pressing the aperture test button multiple times until the aperture closes. Possibly also by pressing the shutter and getting the error message, but this is slower. It is not reliable, you can't be sure which aperture gets selected, as the aperture closes or opens a random amount. Look at the front of the lens for the aperture closing. In theory f.4 should be the aperture half closed, f.5.6 3/4 closed etc. I am not sure in what increments the aperture jumps, might only be full F-stops or finer or totally random and even enable normally not possible aperture values. Only thing I can tell is that it is much harder to get it to jump to high values, F8 or f11 might be the maximum I saw and these are already rare.
    When you think the diaphragm is good, put the setting in the camera back to f2.8. The aperture will stay stuck at what you set it to. The camera will say you shoot in f2.8, but in reality it is a different aperture value. This value will stay until you select a different value from f2.8 in the camera and you push the aperture button again. However even if you find your favorite aperture that way, AF will not work. It will always go from closest to infinite, never finding focus. So if you use AF, set the focus before changing the aperture. To get AF working again you need to select a different aperture than f2.8 in the camera and press the aperture test bottom on the side of the camera until the aperture is fully open (f2.8). Then AF will work again. AF will not work if the aperture is in any other position than fully open.
    So it is a choice between only f2.8+AF or inaccurately something between f2.8-f22 without AF and no easy way to know the real aperture without calculating it with test photos. Still helpful if you for example always shoot at infinity and want an aperture over f2.8. Just take a few test shots to determine if you get the depth of field you want. Or maybe you are lucky and your AF is not affected at the same time.
