Ah ... I know Paganini also played and composed for guitar, but I never would have guessed Caprice #5 sounded this soothing on anything but violin. Ewan: あなたは素晴らしいです。Thanks!
What the heck was that...? I don't know this piece...but I don't think I heard ANY mistakes...? Was it Flawless ? And he seems to not even be really trying..? Beyond amazing..
James Musbach That's what happens when you have a combination of supernatural talent and supreme discipline. It also helps to LOVE doing what you do. Ewan Dobson is truly an ascended Master of the guitar.
The proficiency of one's composing abilities at that point is solely subjective. You may not think his compositions were the greatest, but there's no denying he was a virtuoso, and that there WERE and STILL ARE countless people who believe his compositions were the greatest, such as myself, personally.
Or he's just mixing 2 Ralph Macchio's characters: Daniel Larusso (Karate kid - most famous) and Eugene Martone (Crossroads - this music is played in the final duel)...
the filter wont let me tell you how much i adore this im linking this everywhere `kin hell man . you deserve a medal im a bass player and have yet to summon up enough courage to submit a vid mostly due to the horrendous aggression on here.but that .. mate ..im scots and we dont spread praise easily that was easily the best ive seen since antonio forcione you have NOT wasted the 15 years it took you to master that . if it took you less ..well .dont answer the door for a day or 3 hug
Well, if you feel that ewan dobson is one of the best guitar players and one heck of a composer for acoustic guitar, paying for the tabs would be a good way to enable him to spend his time making more of the music we love, as opposed to working in a register or something (Ofcourse he woudn't, he's probably a rocket scientist, but you get the point). And if you don't agree? Well then you SHOULDN'T buy the tabs, that's the beauty of it :P
What other performances of this piece do you have? Jesus, why criticize? It's not like this is a competition. Just be grateful that this is up here for US to listen for FREE at no COST at all. Can't you appreciate that small fact at least? Geez, people these days.
There are a lot of people in the world who say they are musicians, and get paid to be musicians..But there is only a very small minority of them who dream of maybe playing a few bars of Paganini, and an even smaller minority who actually do, or can play Paganini. That alone make Ewan Dobson unique, even though there are a lot of other reasons you can say that about him.
one of the most impressive alternate picking displays you will see, if a bit slow on tempo compared But to play this music on guitar accurately at all is an incredible feat.
Who cares about the flag. It means he loves Japan and its ok. What matters is his music and I think is using pick is most difficult and complex than using finger style on guitar. Ewan is simply an insane performer and I am becoming a big fan of him. So thank you.
Only korean nationalists are obsessed with the flag, which is in fact still used today by the JMSDF. You are completely right though, Ewan is a great performer.
DerpTheGreat Exactly! Not only being used by JMSDF for years, but also being worshiped by Koreans themselves during Japanese occupation period, believe it or not. Koreans have rewritten own history after the WWII.
OBSESSED? I DON'T CARE WHAT NATIONALITY YOU HAVE BUT JUST KNOW THAT YOU HAD SUCH A TERRIBLE HISTORY LESSON FROM SCHOOL OR MAYBE YOU DIDNT JUST WENT TO A PROPER SCHOOL? YOU KNOW WHAT ALL THE BULLSHITS YOURE GOING TO REPLY WILL BE MEANINGLESS SO BEFORE YOU WANT TO HAVE A CONVERSATION LEARN HISTORY FIRST
To those who are hostile to "Rising Sun pattern", I have a question. He has uploaded a video in 2009. At that time did you not a problem? If there is a problem with the video, he is in trouble, it is not pointed out "at that time", even if it is said, that five years have elapsed since.
the problem for using and displaying the pattern of japan's criminal flag has always been a problem. so it is a problem for everyone who likes this video and the stupid taughtless dumb youtube community to not warn the youtuber back 5 years ago. plus be shameful of your self and the society that made you to have such a bad thinking
Paganini was known to cut the strings from his violin until only one was left and still play the piece. Pretty slick Ewan, you could give up your day job.
Really, people talking about flags after hearing this. This piece, if you take the time to learn and master it, will take you 10 years at least - unless you become a brainwashed ninja from hell and practice it every day all day to polish it up to level of performance Ewan displays here. I think that might be the artistic hint people are missing here.... plus Ewan has a thing about costumes and hats. Give him a break.
I like the way you play the guitar. I just want to tell you that the symbol on your headband and you used for the background is very offensive to some East Asian countries like China and Korea. To them, you can be seen as wearing a headband which has the Hakenkreuz on it.
Yuni, although what you say is probably true, you have to take it in context. To Western eyes it's just a bad-ass design and when put with incredible guitar playing it creates an image- not a political commentary. If you watch Ewan's other videos you'll see there is an Eastern martial arts theme and it makes him a bad-ass video game hero!! Rock on Ewan
My opinion....sounds too technical and not enough musical. Some parts sound musical but it sounds more like you're practicing scales alot of the times. But...you still blow me away on guitar, lol.
Nice performance!! sounds cool.. Sorry to my pool english BUT This flag is simbol of japan's imperialism aggression. This flag and hairband should be considered as very rude to other asian contries... Using this simbol is same to advertising hakenkreuz.. So please study history of japan aggression and change backgroundwall. thanks for reading and I hope to know more peaple that simbol is invalid to use.
Prime minister Murayama apologised in 1995, Hashimoto apologized in 97, Koizumi apologised several times during his time as prime minister, and so did the emperor and many other prime ministers; for the full list of apologies go to: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_war_apology_statements_issued_by_Japan But for some reason, chinese and korean governments were never happy with them;
Legend says that he bested Chuck Noris just once, that Ewan played so well, chuck noris defeated himself in an effort not to lose to Ewan Dobson's musical expertise!
i don't think i even have enough room in my brain for all those notes. three notes in i'd drop the flatpick into the sound hole and that'd be that. amazing.
He wrote this song back in the day under the name Paganini. Ewan Dobson has always existed as the source of all music for all eternity.
Pick, acoustic, every note. That’s skill. Thousands of hours of practice right there. Respect.
Ah ... I know Paganini also played and composed for guitar, but I never would have guessed Caprice #5 sounded this soothing on anything but violin. Ewan: あなたは素晴らしいです。Thanks!
Ewan Dobson uses LR Baggs pickups and Ernie Ball guitar strings. Buy them at www.candyrat.com/stringsandthings/
He's using the Pick of Destiny, not fair!
+TheDiet God LOL!!
😂👍
To play something that fast so cleanly on an acoustic guitar is quite a feat. I've only seen or heard a couple of people do it. Very nicely done.
Classic guitar for beginners, lesson 2: "And now we'll try something more difficult..."
Come back here after many years and he is still amazing
Great playing Ewan. Very Clean, great tone and feel. Inspiring
Who would have known that classical music and shred metal could coexist so beautifully?
Karate Kid/Crossroads. I win for getting the reference.
But the karate kid play's the caprice of steve vai and is more easy than this men
Youre one of my favourite guitarists, and Paganini one of my favourite composers. THANK YOU for this performing, man, THANK YOU
Give me a minute... I have to pick my jaw up off the floor. I've only seen caprice #5 done on violin... this blew my mind.
Try check out "Crossroads"
80s Robert Johnson Blues movie where Steve Vai trys this on an electric guitar and fails.
Macchio nailed it though.🤣
If the flag is impeding Ewan's amazing effort to touch your soul, close your eyes for the full experience.
one word to sum up Ewan Dobson
Robot!!
hes simply amazing.
Go CANADA Go!!
What the heck was that...? I don't know this piece...but I don't think I heard ANY mistakes...? Was it Flawless ?
And he seems to not even be really trying..? Beyond amazing..

Loving the rising sun reference to "the karate kid" who's lead plays Eugene in "Crossroads" where they use this song in the guitar duel
This guys is so good people dislike it cause they simply cant comprehend how good he is.
Someone practised their scales religiously for endless hours! Lol. Omg wow :)
This is technically awesome. The song as so many different parts to learn but it follows some pretty common patterns that makes it easier to remember.
Does he like the Japan Maritime Self Defense Forces?
Playing his guitar is great.Σ(゚д゚lll)
I think he does not have any political affiliation and simply loves Japan for its wonderful traditional culture and customs.
Or he's just mixing 2 Ralph Macchio's characters: Daniel Larusso (Karate kid - most famous) and Eugene Martone (Crossroads - this music is played in the final duel)...
André Oliveira Precisely.
the filter wont let me tell you how much i adore this
im linking this everywhere
`kin hell man . you deserve a medal
im a bass player and have yet to summon up enough courage to submit a vid mostly due to the horrendous aggression on here.but that .. mate ..im scots and we dont spread praise easily
that was easily the best ive seen since antonio forcione
you have NOT wasted the 15 years it took you to master that . if it took you less ..well .dont answer the door for a day or 3
hug
Ive been playing for 13 years now and I wonder how long it would take my to learn to play the first 13 seconds of this piece.
13 more years lol
+Gavin Galloza haha.. hahahaha good answer
+Phlop Alopagus You can do it. How fast just depends on how much you practice.
***** not even. he's so accurate😭
If you practice...Another 13 years...Maybe..If your GIFTED...13 Seconds..
It's sad to see what makes a top comment on youtube!!
Paganini wrote some great music and Ewan really does it justice!!
Guitar God!!!
Amazing performance under the great flag! God bless you!
you should be shameful to the millions who suffered under that stupid flag
im sory that your society taught you to have an iq of a worm
@@JAJA-pi8ji i agree with that
One hell of an exercise-this guitarist may be, no, is the top of modern classical guitar. Bravo, please tour.
"My guitar will make a nice coffee table..."
0:33 i really like the brief switch from picking to strumming here.
His fingers whip like wet spaghetti noodles.

You like Japan and play incredibly good
Three thumbs up o.o xD

Thank you ! From Japan
best performance of that piece on youtube...that was, for lack of a better word, remarkable.
旭日旗をバックに置くとマンガの集中線みたいでカッコいいね。
演奏お見事でした!!
Now that he has warmed up.... this guy is insane.
Fucking cool!! And awesome flag
This was 13 years before,
I wish I could go back to that time and fix things that I killed up!!!
Our Love- O Kaiseki Chan O!!!
アコギも上手だし、旭日旗もかっこいいし。
Cool: this is how Paganini is meant to be played! Thanks Ewan!
maybe he lives or loves Japan..=/
he played super clean on an acoustic guitar. imagine it on an electric guitar . EPIC
Who cares about the flag. It means he loves Japan and its ok. What matters is his music and I think is using pick is most difficult and complex than using finger style on guitar. Ewan is simply an insane performer and I am becoming a big fan of him. So thank you.

***** lick here to hear another great version of this, recorded in 1993 on a clean electric. Thank you!

the people who worshiped are betrayers of the country. plus the japanese forced innocent citizens to pretend to worship the criminal flag
EWAN. MaRS Boy......you come frome another planet....what Fantastic performance! ?!!!! Keep going

凄いテクニックだ。ギターの音色があまりにも美しくて涙が出そうになったよ。
Bravo~
背景の旭日旗と鉢巻が演奏を引き立たせて実にいいね。
Beautiful performance and beautiful flag. GoooGreat
軍国主義の象徴だと?笑わせるなよな。日本の文化を勉強して下さい。
ドブソンさん、あんたに惚れたぜ。
Ewan wears some crazy gear!! 😲😂
His guitarrin is second to none!! 👍😎😎
Cool flag of the Rising Sun!
Your Great Samurai!
s 17 that simbol isn't relevant samurai. flag of rising sun is simbol of imperialism aggression
if that's cool is Hakenkreuzflagge cool for you?
Paganini was known to cut the strings from his violin until only one was left and still play the piece. Pretty slick Ewan, you could give up your day job.
im pretty sure i just heard alittle karate kid in there at :29
best guitarist ever, trust me
かっこいい!
( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
this is crazy... how he can on earth to play like this... great...
道着らしきものも着ているし、日本びいきなのでしょうか、旭日旗のデザインが好きなのでしょうか、
This is the way I've always wanted to hear it
Fantastic

It's Japanese navy flag.
WOW. Amazing! Thanks for posting. I love classical guitar and this guy's playing is very very very goooood!
トンスルランド人が下の方で何人かわめいてます。
Hi
what are the 105 people thinking that they dont like this??? incredible!!

Its not true, op is retarded, spreading bs. Japan still uses this flag.
思わずモニターの前で拍手してしまったよ!すごい!
My opinion....sounds too technical and not enough musical. Some parts sound musical but it sounds more like you're practicing scales alot of the times. But...you still blow me away on guitar, lol.
Blame paganini for that not him. If you want "feeling" go listen to blues, this piece is suppose to be technical .
The goal of Paganini was to make the fastest music so no one but him could play it
Ok, makes sense to me. Thanks for the education.
this is candyrat, its all technical stuff.
This is basically classic piano on guitar. This has as much "feeling" as does a temped up composition of Mozart.
I'm Italian and I'm honored about dat performance!
Nice performance!! sounds cool.. Sorry to my pool english BUT This flag is simbol of japan's imperialism aggression. eoch i it’s from karate kid
This guy eats greatness and craps amazement
Man... AWESOME. Only this word!
Teh mornin' sunrise in japan starts with Ewan Dobson
LARRAVEE!!! THUMBS UP! HE MAKES THE BEST GUITARS IN THE WORLD.
@steeleninja3 nope, violins are definitely tuned in 5ths. guitars are tuned in 4ths, apart from the G to B string.
Epic, his playing style is so good. Love it
SIR... this is incredibly amazingly played!!!!!

Ewan, you're amazing to the power of million!
the best I have ever seen
This blew me away
Ive heard some amazing shit before but you just blew me away.
Nicolo Paganini incarnate! I swear! He would be proud. Not many people can do this song justice on the guitar.
YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
Well That just blew my mind.
Yes! Your play is KAMIKAZE
Legend says that he bested Chuck Noris just once, that Ewan played so well, chuck noris defeated himself in an effort not to lose to Ewan Dobson's musical expertise!
Não é pra qualquer um reproduzir no violão composições de Nicolo Paganini , você e muito fod##
this guy is my hero
This is the same music I scrape my brains off the floor to after watching him play.
wow, on an acoustic, thats nearly impossible. Friggin great job!!! Mad skills dude!!!
すばらしい演奏、最高のテクニックですね。すごい!
amanzing amanzing !! great job dude !!
i don't think i even have enough room in my brain for all those notes. three notes in i'd drop the flatpick into the sound hole and that'd be that. amazing.
...wishes he could play with such clarity and precision.
