    Loved it, one of my favourites of the year. I say that as someone who’s never really got on with Luca Guadanigno’s films.

      So glad to hear that and I totally agree! I was a bit hot and cold on Luca before as well, but after Challengers and Queer he's become one of my favorite directors.

    Why isn't there talk of best picture nomination for Queer is quite a tragedy.

      Tell me about it! In a perfect world both Queer AND Challengers would be in the best picture conversation. Unfortunately they aren't being campaigned correctly and are being ditched by their studios for bigger releases. It's a shame :( glad to hear you're a fan of the movie too though!

    I haven’t seen this yet, but just wanted to say your review was EXCELLENT. So I watched your review on “Conclave,” which I also haven’t seen, and “Saltburn,” which I DID see, and all were great reviews, so I subscribed! Your review of “Queer” was especially good because I’m somewhat apprehensive to see another Guadagnino movie after “Call Me By Your Name,” which was so good it was almost TOO good-it really changed something in me, that HEARTACHE that it left in me-so I was leery of seeing “Queer.” But your review was so glowing that I realized that’s exactly why I should see it! I’m not so eloquent, but really just wanted to say I’m looking forward to more reviews from you! Thanks!

      Thank you so much for the kind words and subscription! It really means a lot to me and I'm so glad you've enjoyed those reviews! Your Guadagnino experience is sooo similar to mine--I saw CMBYN when I was 17 and it also changed me and left such a massive impact on me, like you said, it's almost TOO good. I also put off watching another Guadagnino for a long time. My second was "A Bigger Splash" which I was sort of mixed on, but "Challengers" and "Queer" have quickly established him as one of my favorite directors working. CMBYN is probably still my favorite but his other work is absolutely worth your time and I hope you enjoy them anywhere near as much as CMBYN! Thank you so much for your comment and I look forward to bringing you more reviews :)

      "Saltburn" was the worst film I saw in 2024, by some measure! A good cast wasted on a tacky hybrid of The Talented Mr Ripley and Downton Abbey without the charm and intelligence of either...

    “this movie is such a feelings piece” YES. I loved this review a lot, i definitely think this video is one of the better and more nuanced reviews i’ve watched on here about this movie. I definitely think a second rewatch would have me understanding the film more. at first the psychedelic scenes threw me for a loop but as it went on and on, and we see lee going into eugene’s skin my heart dropped and i really felt the weight of how hopelessly he was feeling and that longing for desire to be had by him. even thought it was a slow movie i appreciate the pacing too bc it allowed space to feel the anxiety and confusion and timidiness from lee. such a beautiful movie!!

    Queer is a brilliantly haunting masterpiece and congrats to Daniel Craig's best actor nomination with the Golden Globe. Fingers crossed.

      @@cliffordsam8260 So glad to hear you’re such a fan of the movie! I’d absolutely love if Craig won there. It unfortunately doesn’t look like he’ll be win competitive for the Oscar but I think he absolutely deserves picking up a couple awards on the way. My fingers are crossed too!

    Thanks for the good review. I hope to see it this week. I'm a little concerned about the 3rd act, which some people have had a difficult time with, but I'm willing to have an open mind and see what happens. Cheers.

      I hope you enjoy it! The third act definitely seems to be the area of contention for most people, but I think if you go into it with an open mind you may enjoy it! If you remember, let me know your thoughts after you see it! Cheers to you as well.

      Just watched it, I have experienced something similar regarding the 3rd act and it resonated so deep with me, I completely understand why some people might have an “issue” but it was beautifully expressed
      This is a truly master piece for me 🫶🙏🏻

    Excellent review. I just saw it today, and you nailed it. It probably does need a second viewing. Some of it is abstract and needs extrapolation. I will need to think about parts of it. But you are correct that it is a beautiful, feeling movie, and the acting is superb. I HATED all the smoking, but it was the '50s. LOL

      @granteus_  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hahaha, you're absolutely right about the smoking--it was constant! I'm glad to hear you had such a good experience with the movie! And I completely agree about a second viewing--I could really see that fully bringing the movie into focus for us. Thank you very much for your comment!

    Here I go again: Like "All of us Strangers" watching all the trailers, interviews and reviews because I can't stream it on my platforms. By the time I eventually see it I'll go: "Meh" in underwhelmed disappointment.

    • @granteus_
      @granteus_  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I totally relate to that. "Queer" is a movie I had been anticipating all year, so when I finally sat down to see it, I almost felt like I was setting myself up for disappointment. Honestly, the thing that kinda works for me, is just pretending/assuming the movie is going to be absolutely terrible lol. That usually saves me from some disappointment, but that obviously won't work for every movie or everyone.

    Gross and pointless. Oscarbation at its worst. I'm not bothered by gay sex in a movie (or in person!), but this felt exploitative. WHERE is the beauty in the grimy story? Death in Venice meets a bad trip.

      Instead of concentrating on rudeness, it might be more beneficial to focus on the movie and its review itself; I believe CRAIG would find that approach more constructive. Emphasizing what's praiseworthy rather than what's negative can lead to a richer understanding and appreciation.

      @@granteus_It's unclear whether the gentleman commenting has actually seen the movie, but we can certainly recognize his strong preference for correctness-and his admiration for CRAIG. The exceptional flow and detail of your review have attracted 4.3K views, which clearly demonstrates the impact of your work. I would have to say CRAIG is thankful for the exposure.
