Kelly Cheng/Sara Hughes won their fourth title on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour since they reunited four months ago when they beat Brazil’s Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos on Sunday in the final of the Tepic Elite16 in Mexico. Cheng/Hughes lost the first set of the final to the reigning world champions but came back to win the next two (21-14, 15-21, 15-10). Cheng/Hughes did not lose a set until the final. *Cheng/Hughes have won four of the six Beach Pro Tour events in which they have competed since their reunion, including the 2022 Beach Pro Tour Finals.* “It’s been amazing,” Hughes told Volleyball World. “I’m so happy to be playing with Kelly and just working with our entire team. We’re putting together the right strategies and working as hard as we can. We have all the support back home and that’s what makes a good team.”

congrats to both USA and Brasil, really a fun match to watch. I see the strategy of the Brasilian team on the 2nd set and it works; they did the same thing to the other USA team. The 3rd set was a winner take all and the USA did some awesome blocking. These 2 teams will only get better. Can't wait to see them at the Olympics in Paris!

Cheng was telling Duda that she didn't touch the block and that she would´ve told them had she felt that she touched it. Because on a previous point Duda was accusing Cheng of touching the ball on the block with a long stance by the net. I was there in the crowd ;)

A transmissão deixando muito a desejar com essa câmera horrorosa. Não se transmite vôlei assim dona FIVB. Vôlei não é tênis! Com relação ao jogo, notei uma queda de rendimento da Duda já tem algum tempo. Já a Kelly é bem afrontosa, mas passa longe de ser uma Walsh como atleta e pessoa.
Engraçado que eu gosto da câmera posicionada assim. A bola não fica tremida pois o câmera não precisa ficar caçando a bola o tempo todo e dá para ver toda a quadra.

The BRA have not updated their game... very old fashion game, thanks to the big block they have... they would not have such high level without the tall girl. No surprise in their block, we know where they block lots of seconds before. The pass is not good OR they do not attack in 2 as they are too slow etc etc...
They are still the top ranked team, and this game could have gone either way. Cheng and Hughes are playing a much more conventional game than they had in the past also.
I think both teams respected each other a lot. The hugs and embrace and the exchange of notes at the end of the match felt endearing and authentic, which made me very happy to see. During the match, of course you have to be aggressive and intimidating. But I actually noticed Duda kept looking at Ana Patrizia with an annoyed face after she didn’t make a play or didn’t get a block. But maybe it was just me reading into it too much?

congrats to both USA and Brasil, really a fun match to watch. I see the strategy of the Brasilian team on the 2nd set and it works; they did the same thing to the other USA team. The 3rd set was a winner take all and the USA did some awesome blocking. These 2 teams will only get better. Can't wait to see them at the Olympics in Paris!

Duda was telling her that it was a block touched that the referee didn't mark on her favor.
Cheng was telling Duda that she didn't touch the block and that she would´ve told them had she felt that she touched it. Because on a previous point Duda was accusing Cheng of touching the ball on the block with a long stance by the net. I was there in the crowd ;)

A transmissão deixando muito a desejar com essa câmera horrorosa. Não se transmite vôlei assim dona FIVB. Vôlei não é tênis! Com relação ao jogo, notei uma queda de rendimento da Duda já tem algum tempo. Já a Kelly é bem afrontosa, mas passa longe de ser uma Walsh como atleta e pessoa.
Isso foi um elogio ou uma crítica à Walsh?
Engraçado que eu gosto da câmera posicionada assim. A bola não fica tremida pois o câmera não precisa ficar caçando a bola o tempo todo e dá para ver toda a quadra.

The BRA have not updated their game... very old fashion game, thanks to the big block they have... they would not have such high level without the tall girl. No surprise in their block, we know where they block lots of seconds before. The pass is not good OR they do not attack in 2 as they are too slow etc etc...
They are still the top ranked team, and this game could have gone either way. Cheng and Hughes are playing a much more conventional game than they had in the past also.

I think both teams respected each other a lot. The hugs and embrace and the exchange of notes at the end of the match felt endearing and authentic, which made me very happy to see.
During the match, of course you have to be aggressive and intimidating.
But I actually noticed Duda kept looking at Ana Patrizia with an annoyed face after she didn’t make a play or didn’t get a block. But maybe it was just me reading into it too much?

Kelly Cheng/Sara Hughes won their fourth title on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour since they reunited four months ago when they beat Brazil’s Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos on Sunday in the final of the Tepic Elite16 in Mexico.
Cheng/Hughes lost the first set of the final to the reigning world champions but came back to win the next two (21-14, 15-21, 15-10). Cheng/Hughes did not lose a set until the final.
*Cheng/Hughes have won four of the six Beach Pro Tour events in which they have competed since their reunion, including the 2022 Beach Pro Tour Finals.* “It’s been amazing,” Hughes told Volleyball World. “I’m so happy to be playing with Kelly and just working with our entire team. We’re putting together the right strategies and working as hard as we can. We have all the support back home and that’s what makes a good team.”
