So far other than the line about I beg to differ about grams I prefer the pilot we actually got maybe because I watched that a bunch more times, but I still prefer it and about your description on the first part of this your content is amazing and definitely worth the wait we will be here as long long as it takes
I agree! The second version of the pilot is just so nostalgic and (imo) has a better flow! And thank you so much! I've felt so bad about getting behind on videos, so that really means a lot! 😟
@ of course I mean that your content is amazing and the only other thing I would add to that comment is after watching part three there’s a lot of exposition that I wish made it into the show like how warlock are evil witches, regardless of their gender when in other media warlocks are always evil male wizards I remember watching the show for the first time when I was 12 years old and I knew the term warlock as an evil male wizard so I remember saying out loud to myself. What do they call female evil witches then I really wish I didn’t have to ask that question to myself then again it was 2016 when I watched the show for the first time and it was 1998 when the show aired so there wasn’t that much to expect back then but I watch shows now and sometimes I think about how much society has both changed and not changed over the years. It’s very interesting to think about sorry for the long comment I guess I have a lot to say
@@Emmadilemma518 Completely agree! I loved the immersion in the second version of the pilot, and the way they incorporated the lore! And no worries about the long comment, I love to hear everyone's thoughts on the videos, and I try to read and respond to as many comments as I can!
In both versions, this is the only time when Prue uses Telematerialization. To teleport liquid with the power of ur mind. Pure never does that again. Its been theorized that if she continued on and grew, a possible advancement would b that the she could start affecting others like solid and heavy objects, maybe even ppl. Sort of like an orb-less version of telekinetic orbing. Which means either as a sub-power to the main one, or perhaps her 3rd seperate power would've been Apportation aka Remote Teleportation: to teleport others without touching.
@@mr.impressions1370 Orb-less version of Paige. We've seen on the show of ppl doing that before. Like Drake the Mercury Demon, the elvin nanny, and number of others.
Lori Rome I could tell that her her acting abilities is different than Alyssa Milano if she had never left everything would be different and if Constance was still there the concept of the series would never have changed and would focus on their sisterhood and a womanhood and their family dynamic what concerns their destiny to fight to fight evil and dealing with humanity that also are doing evil but I could see Lori Rome she is a good actress there 🥰♾️🔮 1:26
Lori gives off a "too mature/older" vibe to be the youngest sister. Also her energy is too similar to that of Prue. Alyssa's take is better. She infused the character of Phoebe with a more devil-may-care, cheeky persona which worked well. Also visually, Shannen, Holly & Alyssa looked good together (similar heights and builds) and each brought something different to the table. As a trio they worked amazingly (at least onscreen).
@@weirdlybeloved I was thinking the same thing. However, had they pursued, the sister set up from the reboot. In which Piper and Prue were reuniting with a long lost sister from their mother‘s first relationship. Then it might’ve worked. You would keep everything else the same as the OG charmed. But that’s an angle Lori’s energy could’ve navigated.
Lori wasn’t bad, but a little too matter-of-fact and sarcastic a character. She’s also a little too tall compared to Shannen and Holly. Alyssa really was the right choice. Maybe because she had the experience. I watched Picket Fences, Who’s the Boss/Melrose Place, and Beverly Hills 90210 and thought Charmed was perfectly cast. Rose made an excellent addition. Like the Golden Girls, the actresses were just right (although Shannen and Alyssa eventually became enemies and Betty Whjte and Bea Arthur allegedly didn’t always get along.)
This show would’ve been completely different with Lori and Phoebe, she definitely played the role more seriously; in my opinion, she would’ve been perfect casting for Aaron Spelling because season 1 definitely reminds me of Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210 with magic.
I wonder if Shannon would have been fired if they went with Lori instead of Alyssa I mean dont get me wrong I think Alyssa done great in the role but I just feel like the cast would have gotten along better
@@mr.impressions1370 Shannen would’ve still been on the show; it was Alyssa. It has come out that Alyssa felt very strongly about Shannen being the highest paid and the main star (number 1 on the call sheet) on the show. And Shannen being pushed in the middle of the promotional photos, which was one of the things Shannen and Alyssa disagreed with, she also hated that Shannen got certain magazine covers and Alyssa would make it a competition… Shannen stated she didn’t look at those things and think she was (That GIRL); she was about the work… In my opinion, Alyssa was very much like Jennie Garth to Shannen. Shannen always had this aura about her that women she worked with would really love or have some type of envy against her, and Alyssa and Jennie had both ladies lead the charge against Shannen to get her off the show and to push their star Bigger Jeannie on 90210 Shannen was number 2 on the call sheet, and guess who moved to number 2 once she was let go? Jennie… Not saying Shannen being late didn’t cause her ultimate exit, but Shannen's issue is that she should’ve spoken to Aaron and Tori about the issue she was dealing with with her then-husband, and she would’ve still been on the show. Now with Alyssa, once Shannen was let go (and if I’m being honest, I think Shannen was let go due to her high salary and Alyssa threatening, It’s me or her, and she would sue the network if they chose Shannen), guess who was moved to the center and was the main sexxxxx symbol of the show and got the most press!???? The one who caused all the strife herself, Alyssa
Fair point! I feel like Lori looks more like Shannen and Holly in the promo photo where the lighting makes her hair look darker, so I think if she'd had darker hair in the episode it would have been easier to see the similarities. ❤️
Most of the scenes were redone and filmed on the soundstage set that was built after the initial pilot, but I think most of the scenes with Roger and Jeremy stayed the same!
Would Charmed still be popular if Lori joined and lasted 8 Seasons would Shannen have stayed on i wish i could know how different things would've been if Lori joined the show instead of Alyssa but will never know i like both pilot's but i prefer the one with Alyssa because it worked and the show lasted for 8 years.
To be honest, probably not. I like Lori, but Charmed was a supernatural drama, so the show needed a sister that fed into that. Lori's version of Phoebe was too down-to-earth for it to make sense why she and Prue didn't get along, but Phoebe's version nailed the sibling rivalry and helped create the sort of tension the show needed, so I think that's a big part of why it ended up being so successful.
Good point! I definitely think the scenes they added in the second version (like Piper and Phoebe talking in the bedroom and the one in the drugstore) helped balance out the pace!
According to Shannen and Holly, Lori's church found out she was playing a witch and pretty much forced her to quit, so Aaron called Alyssa and asked if she would be interested.
The blond lady? Her name was Serena ~ it seems like Jeremy was seeing her behind Piper's back in order to get close enough to kill her and steal her power.
Wow, heard about the original Phoebe but never saw this first pilot episode! Loved Charmed and it was good, but it never reached Buffy's cool and edgy status. The 3 rarely if ever went all full out with their powers.
Agreed! Charmed and Buffy will always be icons, but there's no denying that Buffy had something that Charmed didn't.. and definitely had better writing, imo.
I definitely think her hair color threw me off a bit.. it's almost red while Piper and Prue both have very dark hair. I wish she would have kept her dark hair in the pilot, so they looked more sister-like!
Alyssa M. is very successful at playing the same exact character, Every. Single. Time.! Similar to Angela Bassett. If they did not have the connections or 'looks', among other things, I doubt either of them could have made it on pure talent.

You're welcome! I'm so glad I was able to share it! Hopefully they add it to streaming someday so it's more easily accessible for everyone!
They really improved on the scene in the café where Prue first notices her own power. The dialogue in this rendition is so much clunkier!
Definitely agree! The second version is also much prettier, with the backlighting and the warm tones at the bar!
