I built a Tasker task that puts my phone in battery saver mode if the screen is off for 5 min (customizable). There are drawbacks to this though. First, location updates and app notifications won't occur in battery saver mode. I used a paid app (Buoy) to edit battery saver settings to allow location updates. For notifications, the apps have to be moved to "Not Optimized." There are still delays vs not being in battery saver mode, but it's the only way for me to get 6-7hrs of screen on time and still only need to charge once every 24 hours.
I have a question, please, Shane. I just got a Surface Duo (original version). I have a Samsung Note 20 Ultra and an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I can easily put Microsoft Word on my home page. I cannot on the Duo. When I attempt to install Word on my Duo, I get a message that it isn't compatible with this device. To open Word, I have to open the Office app, find Word, and then open it that way, an awfully convoluted way to do it on a Microsoft device. Am I missing something?
So years ago... I de-googled a pixel device. "Google Play Services" is what kills all android batteries. I could use my de-googled Pixel 4 for a week without recharging it just by removing those services from the phone.
Some devices running Android 12 will show restricted was an option. This is an extra level of restriction beyond rare.
Fantastic advice and much appreciated!
Hey Shane, Thanks for the tips. Finally I got my Duo 2 and it's way better, I like it most than my Fold 2.

It's also what enables a ton of functionality regarding notifications, location and everything that uses your Google account.
How do you turn off developer mode on duo 2?
Go into developer mode and turn it off at the top.
Nice 1 Shane :-)
