Gosh. I accidentally clipped my toe nail a little slanted and didn't think much like 3 days ago and now each day my toe is hurting a little more. I really hope this is a problem I can fix on my own and it does require me going to some foot doctor to cut off half of my toe nail off.
The curved toenail made a small cut inside. No infection and no excessive bleeding, just painful when touched, do I still need to soak it in epsom salt? Or can I just use the pain reliever right away?
Hi Jessica - Thanks for your question. The swelling on the side of the toe is likely due to the ingrown toenail. If the swelling is severe, we would first suggest that you use foot baths with Epsom salt to help calm the infection. If the swelling and pain calms down, we recommend that you switch to the Ingrown Toenail Pain Reliever to help dissolve the nail that is projecting into the toe. This will stop the nail from causing the aggravation. We hope this helps!

Video is very reassuring. I soaked with Epsom salt first for 15 minutes. Dried foot and applied as shown. My inside big toe nail has been ingrown for 4-5 weeks. Just annoying at first. Not visibly “ingrown”, but now has grown red and easily irritated. Uncomfortable at night sleeping and some walking now. Will see podiatrist next week for another matter and trying to avoid a partial toenail removal and acid treatment to prevent re growth as he proposed. Geez, sounds gruesome. Wish me luck! BTW, smell not as bad as anticipated. I did hold my breath!
We recommend keeping the bandage on while you are treating the area. You can repeat treatment twice daily (morning and night) for up to 7 days until pain and discomfort are relieved or until the nail can be lifted out of the nail groove and easily trimmed. If you have any additional questions, please contact our Customer Support team at drscholls.care@drscholls.com. Thanks!
I assumed they gel should be focused on the actual nail but the video seems to place it about 50/50 over the nail and skin. Is that the correct method?
When doing twice a day is it suppose to get sticky after first use and then do you wash it again? (I am using the older scholls ingrown toenail thing with the glass bottle)
Wash the affected area in between applications but please be sure to dry thoroughly before reapplying. Treatment can be repeated twice daily (morning and night) for up to 7 days until pain and discomfort are relieved or until the nail can be lifted out of the nail groove and easily trimmed. Also, be sure to check the expiration date on the package; do not use a product past the expiration date.

Hi Percy - We suggest that you first soak your toe in a solution of Epsom Salt to draw out the pus and reduce the pressure in that area of the toe. During the day, please apply a band aid with Neosporin to help calm the irritation, infection and swelling. Once you've done this, you can use Dr. Scholl's Ingrown Toenail Pain Reliver to fully dissolve the piece of nail and treat the issue. What about the tool to rip that shit out?
downgraded.... years ago they had in liquid form... few drops worked in 1 minute... jerks
We're sorry to hear about your experience, and will be sure to pass it along to our team.
The instructions give no time limit to how long you're supposed to have it on for. It just keeps saying "use twice daily" ok.... use twice daily FOR HOW LONG???? 1 hour?? 10 mins? 2 seconds?! WHEN do I take it off?? Be specific about instructions....
Apologies for the delay. The treatment and bandage should be worn until the next application. Since the applications are 2 times daily, it should be worn for 12 hours per treatment. This ensures sufficient softening of the nail to allow it to be safely trimmed to stop the ingrown irritation of the toe. We hope it heals soon!
Lidocaine.
Is that what this is?

Can I use this for fingernail?
