Last composition “ Vara leela gana lola” was most unusual and charming. No doubt other compositions in this album are good too.🙏🏼
It was inspired by the English band playing in chennai at that time pukka sahib in the white town. The bands were made of Tamils and may be some Telugus too. They used to wear Band Uniform but could not afford footwear. Hence played Bare foot. They had music in their blood (Isai Vellalar community, odhuvar , pillar, and Devadasi. In addition Brahmins land Lords etc. It is them that protected Carnatic music. It was an eclectic society. Karunanidhi and clans and the Tamil Nalvar for music, Thanjavur Nalvar for dance preserved the classical music. Main sights Deekshithar were these people and he had no qualm in teaching. Thyagarajs's Nauka Charitram is quite risqué. It includes dis robing the God's. However much put a holy cloak on Tyagaraja, he was a human too.
TM krishna is from orthodox parampara, but inspitr of his unorthodox ideas of social norm one must accept the truth of the society. So those who raise the stone to throw should first introspect first.
Among modern pioneers of carnatic music is Abraham pandithar, devadasi like vernal Dhanan, Brenda, Muktha, Balasaraswathi, Vazuvoorar, Dandapani, Madurai Somu etc.
So ido thing south Indian classical music fresh air. Not fanatics of Telugu language.
By the way Not only Tyagaraja used English notes, Deekshitar has also composed over 40 numbers. Harikesanallur Muthia Bhagavad-Gita was the architect of Madhurai Mani's NOTTU SWARAM
