All these shows are a complete treasure trove of nostalgia and hi definition, hi fidelity audio quality transporting you back in time to when all these wonderful people were young and many were still with us. This is the nearest we have to time travel, Nostalgia and all!
He's also a good player, and I think he really makes an effort to match the contestants rather than simply being funny or cute all the time. (Although he's often funny, too!) He and Brett were my favorites when I watched this a kid in the 70s.
Charles and Brett were the two favorites of everybody of the regulars. Certainly better than saint Richard (Although, I'll admit, in the first several weeks of the show, he was kinda funny).
I had never heard of it before watching this episode, but CNR's revival of IT PAYS TO BE IGNORANT lasted a solid year in syndication. As of this date (7/17/20) I couldn't find any episodes of the 1973 version on TH-cam.
He was a joke machine. On the Dick Van Dyke show his character played a comedy writer so it was joke after joke. He tries to do the same thing here but that's not the point of the game. He seldom matches the contestants and he seems to write an answer based on a joke he wants to tell. Nice enough granddad but not necessarily a good MG player.
Her purple jumpsuit either this episode or pat od due to own that I want it so bad it’s beautiful. She’s gorgeous and sweet anyone know where she is now?
And from a technical standpoint, Holly suffered the worst fate possible, where there would be no hope of even surviving the question no matter what answer you give. (She needed two matches, and even though Ruta Lee would have matched her, none of the rest even matched each other.)
It almost looks like Morey Amsterdam`s shirt says Dunkin Donuts and has the little circles as part of the logo because they`re the same colors as the Dunkin logo
as I`m listening to some of these episodes I keep on hearing these little static spikes which last a fraction of a second here and there. they`re just random.....and I don`t mean the game buzzer sound. Even when I used to watch this show on tv it used to happen.
"Down in the ________ " - Morey offers the contestant: "Drain"!! (And he was the FIRST one she called on, not the third who sometimes is caught off-guard because the obvious answers have been taken!)
Free Spirit flying! ROFL! Another fine episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Charles! ;0) Love that laugh and smile... sigh.. Charles got him laughing again. ;0) There that acting again.. ;0)
don't bring "joey" into the pouch. nobody knows that's what you call a young kangaroo? brett thought her answer of "girlfriend" was bad but it was actually the closest to being logical. "boris is so manly..." (crickets) still not there yet.

"This is the nearest we have to time travel," (if I may quote you)
I don't know what it was exactly, but there was just a sweetness and kindness about Charles Nelson Reilly.
Charles is so adorable, and a doll. 🥰 Looks like he dressed up for the occasion. He adores Linda. ❤️

This is the first episode in which Brett, Charles and Richard are seated in the sequence that would become the show's trademark.
Post proof before that troll calls BS
I was just about to say the same thing
Love it on the answer that Brett gave, you can hear Loretta saying, "Say goodnight, Brett."
I love how Charles turned a scarf into a tie. Great color combo.
Charles love for Linda is so refreshing because it comes without the usual lecherous overtones on this show, but from a soft spot in his heart.
I wholeheartedly agree!
Exactly! I wish I had gotten to meet him. He seemed like a lovely person!
Was, the man is dead. So was is correct. 9-2-2021
Yes, I love him, and wish I could've met him also. 🥰
And Charles is all dressed up for her!
I love it when Charles says “That’s my partner”
I simply love this program
Gene looks like he doesn't know what to do with his hands without the long microphone. Maury's tie is hilarious!
wow ! brilliant show! that Charles $5K card was brilliantly played out, luv it.

Never heard of it and don't give a snot
Joe Ambrose glad to know you felt the need to say that even though nobody asked 🙄
18:09 Charles loved that question!
Morey seems like he was such a fun grandpa!
Morey was ANNOYING! (although I'll admit, he was 10 times better than Fred Travelena)

Most of Morey's responses are designed to sell a joke, rather than make some money for the contestant. Not good on this show.
Linda is really gorgeous lady! Loving the '70s 'natural' look! Lovely girl!
but, Swedish? ... please just be proud of who really are ...
Couldn’t agree more. Smoked hot!

Gene isn't holding his telescope microphone.
You can't help but feel sorry for the contestants when the celebrities come up with absurd, really silly answers.
Yes, they try to be creative, but need to think of the simplest or most common answer.
Even RD doesn't seem to be matching much right, either going political or funny
I think that was make Gene upset when the panel tried to out due each other instead of trying to match the contestants..
And from a technical standpoint, Holly suffered the worst fate possible, where there would be no hope of even surviving the question no matter what answer you give. (She needed two matches, and even though Ruta Lee would have matched her, none of the rest even matched each other.)
What about all the times the contestants say some terrible answer that has no chance, like "candy" in the kangaroo's pouch? Haha.
It almost looks like Morey Amsterdam`s shirt says Dunkin Donuts and has the little circles as part of the logo because they`re the same colors as the Dunkin logo

Ruta Lee - what a beautiful lady
Rita did a episode of Hogan's Heroes, super acting. 9-2-2021

It's just of the taping process. Think of how many times this show has been copied from one format to another.
ah, 70s girls. and great 70s tv family entertainment.
I like that show because of Loretta switt
you gotta rule out a few first - lol Charles
Linda Olsen was smoking hot! I’ve gone through all these episodes , she gets my vote as the most beautiful contestant. And such poise she showed.
Simp!
How does booze not match beer?
i think booze...is more like whiskey...vodka..etc
The "rule" they usually is that you can't match a general with a specific. Beer being specific ...booze being general.
Don't get me wrong, I like Morey Amsterdam, but he seems too intent on making jokes than actually winning anyone any money.
He was a BIG - time stinker
"Down in the ________ " - Morey offers the contestant: "Drain"!! (And he was the FIRST one she called on, not the third who sometimes is caught off-guard because the obvious answers have been taken!)
I wanted to say that but I was afraid of getting people angry.
i wrote to Loretta Swit and ask for a pitcher of herself and she send me one
Are you from Korea?
Which pitcher, Koufax or Seaver ?
Grammar Nazis are out
what did she taste like?
Linda would have made a great vampire, be it a beautiful one!
Morey would have been a great regular. Very funny.
Oh god, NO!
I didn't catch where Linda is from. Her features are just like a couple of my friends from Thailand. Very beautiful. ❤
Linda looks like she should be on Hallmark cards🌼
But first, she needs to see an orthodontist.
Awwww, Linda is so cute! Is she really Swedish of is Charles just making a joke?
