When it's not fan suggested, that's normally what he does. Bands or acts that they covered (such as Simon & Garfunkel) or if they performed with them.
If he ever picks a Johnny Cash song, Marlynn Manson song, or Five Finger Death Punch song, he'll have quite a bit of styles to pick that these three acts have made studio covers of.

They also covered "Shout" by Tears for Fears as well. So there's that irony as well. The did a kickass cover of Land Of COnfusion in my opinion.
@Judge Dredd Yeah sounds more like Sussudio or something. To me, Genesis=Tony Banks keyboard sounds, and to replicate them properly is to replicate his unique writing sensibility.
Judge Dredd i have to disagree with that statement as i dont believe it was a horrible cover land of confusion by genesis was about the fear,anger and anxiety during the cold war whilst disturbed version fits more into a more modern fear with new wars being waged and terrorist attacks like 911 which still has people worried they both play off of different societal fears

It's not weird David comes from a jewish family is brother Ben has a completely different style check out stricken by ben draiman, David writes from the heart it isn't really shown in disturbeds style but his lyrics are written cryptically songs like want, inside the fire, indestructible just to name a few all have to do with David losing something but are true stories
